  • When clumps of cells form inside the vitreous, they cast shadows called floaters. When vitreous gel rubs or pulls at the retina, flashes occur. Floaters and flashes are more common as we reach middle age, or they can be a sign of a serious problem called retinal detachment. Get more information at www.geteyesmart.org.

    If you think, that you have the problem with retina you have to visit a doctor and ask about. It is not a joke. You can loose possibility to see.

    In both of my eyes, the entire left side is flashing like one of those eye tricks and I find it very difficult to read. What do I do...?

    Hi Alejandro
    I have this problem since end of Jan 2012.. I went to eye doctor, and he found retinal tear in my eye. He did laser therapy, but I am still seeing flashes, it is annoying. This monday i will go and see my optomitrist to find out if these flashes ever go away

    Hello there,
    I had a very bad trauma in my eye this Jan 1. First, i started noticing flash light in corner of my eye, and later i started seeing bubbles moving down to my eye. Worst of all, i started seeing them more often than weeks ago. i was in emergency at the hospital on the day of trauma, but they told me there was nothing wrong with my eye. Can you please tell me what should I be doing here?

    Hello doctor keep up the good work 😀. I had floaters since 3 years and my doctor says it's benign but recently I see small shining dots (very small dots ) floating across my field of vision . Should I be worried or is it because of severe dehydration or lack of sleep or poor diet?

    • @Linkario86
      @Linkario86 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If they are really tiny, appear to just randomly move around quickly and you only see them in bright light, it's probably white blood cells. You can check your pulse and see if those little white things move with the pulse. If yes, it's blood cells moving inside the blood vessels and you don't have to worry. However if they appear to swim, like floaters, it may just be more floaters. That's ok of they didn't appear suddenly within a few minutes.
      If it would be a shower of black spots, see a doctor immediatly

    I had an eye accident almost a month ago it was hit by a rubber band used in exercise and I have this floater in my eye that looks like a redish ink or seeweed floating originating from the medial canthus of my right eye whenever I look to the right. My ophthalmologist referred me to a retina specialist and he diagnosed me to have a vitreous hemorrhage? I need to have ff up with him after a month because he can't visualize my periheral retina right temporal area. I only experience this annoying floaters but I don't see flashers of lights nor curtain nor shadows. But my vision is still blurred my visual acuity is 20/50.
    My question doctor is how will I know if this is only vitreous hemorrhage due to trauma or a peripheral retinal detachment? Because I had a BScan OCT and a Fundus photo and it shows that my retina is attached?
    How long usually will it take for my body to absorb the blood in my vitreous humour?
    Thank you.

      Those are white blood cells in your blood vessels of the eye. Everyone has them but many don't notice. It's of no concern

      Blood pressure. It's no concern to the eye and happens to many people. But maybe you should have blood pressure checked

    I'm only 17 and i've got floaters and high myopia, the floaters dont really affect me in any way and i'm used to ignoring them. But i've also had corner eye flashes for a very long time, like more than 5 years. I dont know if that's natural or not but they havent been increasing in frequency. I'm gonna see an eye doc soon

      Just wonderful, been searching for "what does a black dot in your eye mean?" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you ever come across - Fiyilliam Uncomplicated Formula - (do a search on google ) ? It is a smashing exclusive product for discovering how to stop your eye floaters minus the hard work. Ive heard some decent things about it and my friend got excellent results with it.
