I think it was a wonderful chose to not have Jenny speak in this episode so we are just getting her emotions and what she is thinking through the fantastic art work! And we ARE getting the emotions!
Well she probably didn't have any voice synthesizers or universal language disks or anything like that and it was probably added on by Nora later on so...I think that's pretty cool!
I always found Nora and Jenny's characters to be interesting polarization of each other. Nora is hard-working scientist who seems to be more comfortable with machines with people, while Jenny is a robot with strong emotions who is more interested in being a part of humanity than Nora is. That's something to think about.
Yeah I think it’s time for an anime reboot for "My Life As A Teenage Robot" right now An anime TV series should be directed by not only by Nickelodeon or Nicktoons but also Studio Trigger as well because Studio Trigger makes the best anime TV 📺 series ever like "Kill La Kill or Darling in the Franxx"
This was great! I love the story, and XJ-9’s confusion towards the world. That girl questioning her name and XJ-9 just keeps stressing the XJ-9 is her designation is so cute. I love the explanation of why she is a teenager that we never got in the show, and how she is unable to speak because, like everything else around her, she is still trying to decipher what things are and how to interact with them. All and all, I like this (innocent, quiet, learning) XJ-9 better than the character from the actual show. Where Jenny from the original show was hard to like because of her selfish and misguided “teenage” actions, this version of XJ-9 is immediately likable and you can sympathy with her as she is new to life. The story was also good, and it makes sense given Wakeman’s past that she would be at odds with SkyPatrol and that they, in turn would be skeptical of anything she builds after Armagedroid. The idea of XJ-9 meeting a child and taking in the world from a child’s point of view is not only heartwarming, but is also symbolic of her own youth and inexperience. She is learning things for the first time, much like a child, so her first guide is a child. This episode reminds me of the Iron Giant Movie due to the robot and child friendship story. It also reminds me of the Bumblebee movie due to the robot who can’t speak and is learning how to love life and care for others story. I love both of these movies, and am thrilled to see the similarities. All and all, the story is cute and I think it is a perfect opener to this fan project series. Can’t wait for episode two. Why is this silent, innocent, and new to everything version of XJ-9 more likable than her understanding, combat trained, original television version? Lol 😁 Ps. I heard some Charlie and the Chocolate Factory music in there, lol. It was surprisingly fitting.
You forgot to mention how they changed the setting too. In OG series it was our world, with very rare technology progress shown(mostly by villains or aliens) Here, Jenny's creator, Wakeman, is only one of many scientists and technology seems rampant in this world.
The reason Jenny is so likable here, Is because you know what she eventually becomes in the future, She's always had a wonderful nature hiding behind her "Teen Angst" This show-cased that in it's full form, Nothing censored. She hasn't learned from anything yet, But you can see she still has the same "Flare" she has in the Show. "Like when she laser-blasted her Name XJ-9 on the Wall and presented it like it was the best thing ever, That was extremely "Jenny" lmao"
@@Joshuamiller19570 It's almost like an inverse of Darth Vader hypothetically watching Anakin Skywalker in the Clone Wars, and Vader's like, "If only you knew what you'd become." Now imagine present day Jenny going back and watching when she was first built. She'd be like, "Oh young XJ-9, if only you knew what wholesome teenager you'd become."
Yeah I would love to see how Jenny was first activated and was born and how her journey began I really wish they hadn’t canceled the TV 📺 show when they should’ve made season 4 when they had the chance
I don’t care what anybody says, this is canon now. (Also I don’t think that the length is a problem. There’s nothing wrong with a double length season premiere. It’s not like it’d be the first extra long mlaatr special)
Yeah this felt pretty accurate to how I imagined the first Day Jenny was made would be like, Why was she so Human-Like despite Nora not actually going super out of her way to teach her Human-Like stuff? It's because she learned it from someone else first. Very smart of them for thinking of it like that. Jenny's Humanity always seemed to be stronger then even all of the Robotic Weapons she had access too. It's what got her out of most of her more "Dangerous" situations after-all.
Holy crap...this is so cool. Rob Renzetti needs to see this!! The ending touched my heart...I'm crying inside...kind of a dark beginning too I'm excited.
@@McFrozenNuggets EGON DIES???? HE WAS MY FAVORITE CHARACTER 😭😭😭 Also literally the only one I remember from like 17 years ago when I first and only watched ghostbusters 💀💀💀
Finally! After years of MLAATR's absence, this animatic finally filled the void in my heart! I'm so moved by the story, as well! I wish the entire Rebooted story could have this more grounded and emotional tone, and I wish the plot could be more consistent in regards to the lore and character developments. Personally, I've grown way past Nickelodeon's comedic approach, and growing up so far, I kinda dislike how it tends to ruin the characters just so they could get their message through. I wish the comedic and serious tones could be balanced and favored more towards story-driven episodes, since I think us fans have longed for a proper conclusion of MLAATR's story. If there is one thing that I'm grateful for by MLAATR's cancellation, is that this series wouldn't be bound by Nickelodeon's standards for a kids show anymore, which I think had been preventing this amazing series from telling its proper story. Not only that, I'm sure that grown-up long time fans of MLAATR, myself included, wanted to have a more in-depth, grounded, and story-driven series so that we could invest with the characters emotionally and grow up with them for the better. I also want the Rebooted series to implicitly teach the audience about the harsh reality, how to grow up, and to never give up hope when faced with such danger through the characters' determination. Take it as a hero's journey, if you will. Sierra is also a nice addition for the story and Jenny's development, and I want it to be one of her most driving factor in preserving the beauty of life throughout the series. I wish the future episodes, while still going on with the usual hijinks of the original, could still have some somber, yet heartwarming moments like this one. All in all, good luck with the finished animation and the future projects! Totally looking forward to all of it!
The Reboot can't just NOT have the Characters be goofy and or babbling with their actions, Because that's how most of the Characters in MLAATR were, Denying that would be a disservice to the Show itself. But I do admit that it would be nice to see more scenes that are Emotionally Driven, Like the Cat scene in this Animatic. "Or the Butterfly one really, But I think Jenny won't make another mistake like that again, That was a bit brutal after-all"
@@cfan6716 I did too, and it was not only from the tear jerker moments, but of happiness that it was released after a few years. I thought I was the only one
@@blainetate743 Um, where in my comment did I say that it was for nothing? When I say, After a few years, for me, it meant that it would be really good for me.
@@moved145 You never said it, just a thought of mine. Once upon a time, I gave up on MLAATR getting a reboot. I thought I would never see a finished story. This video sparked my joy and hope for a continuation. Offense was not intended, just being friendly is all.
Absolutely spectacular, holy crap. This gripped me more than any episode of the show proper did. On that topic, my biggest real complaint is how this can be a bit shaky continuity-wise. Sure there's a ton of nods to the original show, but I'm not sure how this introduction would flow organically with how the show began in "It Came From Next Door". But you know, who cares if this intro is as spectacular as it is? If the rest of the show is this much better than the original in terms of tone and conveyance, it could stand on its own as a standalone reboot.
I have a couple theories on how it can evolve into the beginning of the show. After all...I think the project is mean to be a season 4....so I guess they're covering the very beginning before fast forwarded to after the final episode?
>but I'm not sure how this introduction would flow organically with how the show began in "It Came From Next Door" I don't see anything that's worse than the show itself in that regard. Remember, one episode established that Jenny had been active for four to five YEARS before she met Brad and Tuck, yet "ICFND" shows that Tuck seems to know absolutely nothing about the noisy energy-blasting machines that make up most of his next door neighbors
This really makes me want to see a MLaaTR reboot. I liked how Jenny showed remorse and regret when she accidentally killed the butterfly, it showed she has no understanding on how fragile organic life is.
They should make Sierra an official canon character. Nickelodeon should really consider it. She’s a great kid. She was still willing to stay friends with Jenny even after the butterfly incident. Not only that but she introduced the concept of a “name” and “mom” to her so she provided the basics to Jenny’s “humanity” so to speak.
You guys are really Samurai Jack-ing this Series, huh? I like your Direction for this Revival. It's Really Good! I can't wait to see the Final Product!!!
Wow! I wasn’t expecting this mood in the slightest..But it actually works! Who would’ve thought, a moody/slower MLAATR? Sounds very refreshing. I think you paid homage to the original humor of the show while still maintaining what you personally wanted the reboot to be, and that’s really really great. My only critiques are about the soundtrack (if you’re going to have long pauses and silent moments like this, you’ll need to have a good soundtrack, but I’m sure you’re working on that) and Nora’s voice. All the other voices sounded great to me, but Nora’s sounded echoey and very much auto tuned. But again you’re probably working on that. It’s just the little stuff that have to do with production...the story and direction are both fantastic!!! You now have my full attention and trust. I can’t wait to see a more dramatic and heavier take on MLAATR! :)
I’ve seen a lot of great feedback here and hopefully mine will get read too. I would say the length is just right, actually 22 Minutes sounds really good as a starter episode to kick us back off with this reboot. I feel like showing us how she gets her Language OS Discs and Naming herself from her encounter with Sierra would be awesome to tie it in with the original show’s pilot. I feel if Sierra has to “Move” or something happened to her wouldn’t be great, but the story would fit better. Personally I’d love to see full animation for all these but I do understand the time required and whatnot, so I’ll leave that decision to the production team. I would love to see quality from this but also quantity, and between many factors it is a hard decision. I really love where the show slows down and gets emotional, as the original was made for kids, it was fast paced and comedy filled. To see it shine a new light on other aspects shows that this reboot could be way more, and I highly commend this animatic for that. Voices were great, and the music was great, I saw nothing else that needed criticism. I really loved watching every bit of this, and I cannot wait to see more, keep it up you guys!!
I'm not gonna go too crazy in-depth, mainly because I think my survey answers will speak for themselves, but I'm absolutely blown away by the quality of this. I love the approach of a more story-focused, dramatic take on MLaaTR that makes this feel like a spiritual successor to Escape From Cluster Prime. And personally, I'm all for it! Keep up the great work, team!
I like how Jenny uses body language rather than talking in order to express her emotions. I think that’s something that should be done more often as it increases the imagination. The way you executed that was phenomenal. Critique wise, the only two things I got are that Jenny’s creator talked way to fast sometimes so she was difficult to understand and that one kids mom sounded like her voice was auto tuned. I’m sure your all working on that though since it is clear this is a very rough animation. Other than that. I like it a lot. Keep up the great work!
'Episode length is too long' Honestly? I'd disagree. The pacing in this works really well, and the original show's 11 minute episodes always made them feel a bit rushed. For the story you're trying to tell here, a 20ish minute episode length seems appropriate. If worse comes to worse you could always split this into 2 smaller episodes, or even combine it with Part 2 for a sort-of TV movie. Also I know it's just placeholder music, but the use of the Iron Man soundtrack as Jenny saves Sierra is too perfect.
I like that idea, I feel like with this not only being the big return, but also the theme of the episode, this really deserves to be a movie, and thats something I think everyone would enjoy
@@kitten2298 This is only part one, the episode isn't over, and there is more then a little bit more, if there was only a little more they wouldn't have cut it up, theres at least 1 more 10+ minute part
I like how you actually explored the ideas and consequences of jenny being a super powerd robot and a teenager and why nora would make her a teenager. Not only that but this deals with the impact that nora’s previous work had and the consequences of that. I adore this and enjoy it a large amount, keep going with this. Also the music choices are fantastic
JJ User well what you (along with billions of other people) need to learn that EVERY year has both positives and negatives. And 2020 has had its positives too. But many people who don’t know any better choose simply not to believe it for very stupid reasons of laziness
I LOVE how Jenny's trying to say.. Jenny: "NO, my name is XJ-9-" Sierra: "...How about Janice?" Jenny: **FACEPALM** And they first meet and Jenny's HUD is literally saying, "DANGER: HUMAN CHILD APPROACHING!" while she is so freaked out backing the HELL away!
That scene with the cat really was wonderful. Jenny's programming impells her to see the cat as a threat, just as the cat's instinct impells it to see her as a threat, but they're both able to act against their basic impulses and make their own decisions, just like Wakeman said.
I know im 4 years late to seeing this, BUT OMGOSH THIS IS AMAZING! This is like actual professional studio quality!!!! The only thing I see an issue with is Wakmans VA, she sounds like she cant constantly breath and trying to roll her words that dont need to be rolled. Plus her voice sounds a little too low. Personality wise, NAILED IT!!!! 9.5/10!!!!!! Hopefully there is more to this, Id love to see this continue! I loved MLAATR growing up. Keep up the good works everyone!
This is beautiful. I've watched it three times already. The movements of machines and camera in the initial forging scene, the voice acting from the Skyway patrol commander, Sierra's character and how she reacts to both Jenny's feats and mistakes; all amazing. Plenty of room for events to happen next too, Jenny finding her voice (figuratively and literally), the mystery behind that probe that launched, more drama with the skyway patrol and Sierra. Looking forward to that and the finished product of this episode. Subscribed. This cartoon wasn't part of my childhood, but seeing everyone's enthusiasm and passion for it, I'm determined to get into it now.
I know right!? I’m not even nostalgic for this show but the passion is plain as day in this animatic. ITS NOT EVEN FINISHED AND THEY GOT MORE EMOTION OUT OF JENNY NOT UNDERSTANDING BIOLOGICAL LIFE THAN WE CAN IN NATHAN DRAKE MISSING HIS BROTHER(in the movie uncharted).
So glad to see that. Even if the creator does not see this comment i need to say a few words. After seeing this me, a 23y/o guy cried seeing his childhood revived made my cry tears of joy. I loved the series so much. But like it happend to me it happend to others aswell. We were being robbed of a phenomal tv show. I cant thank the whole team enough to see not only my but thousands of others childhood revived. I am so glad to that i found this channel. I hope and look forward to see the seasons 4 and 5 and give it the propper ending it deserved years ago. Greetings from Germany. 🥹🥹🥹🥹❤️
You know, I just thought about some really interesting detail about the rebooted animatic: Jenny's wings resembled butterfly wings, and it's so that she could remember the first life that she had accidentally took away. My heart... ToT
I really like the idea of why Dr.Wakeman built Jenny as a Teenager bot. At this stage, they're young and able to adapt the basic morals while Armagedroid built with default mindset of "SAFE" he will do anything despite any morals to fullfill his directive just like other rouge prime AIs in any movie and tv shows
@Angelo Tolosa Why are you mad at a character for showing emotion towards another character? Imagine you in the scenario where you see the billboard falling on the girl. Wouldn't you have that reaction? She was about to *die* if it weren't for Jenny. Think on that for a minute
I’m a little late to the game, but this? It’s absolutely spectacular. I don’t care if it’s from 2020, it stirred up that nostalgic part of me that has been dead since 2009. The mature tone fits the show so well, and there were so many elements that went unexplored in the series in favor of more kid friendly content. You guys have nailed it on the head, and it’s fabulous. I will be keeping an eye on this project from now on, and can’t wait to see what comes out of it.
This is great! I think the animatics are easily understandable, and the option to keep her voice inactive for the first episode is good too. The directing is great, and I think the music could use a bit more work. There are parts where it seems like it could crescendo to help the build up during the building sequence of Jenny. Because it goes on for so long that if the music levels stay stagnant for latter half, it feels like it's too slow. Also I think you can lower the robot noises a little, I don't think they would realistically be that loud on such tightly knit parts. So excited to see more.
The music sounds a lot like the intro from the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory movie XD. I agree with all your points, but this has SO MUCH POTENTIAL, I firmly trust these guys now, they’re doing great so far.
I'd hope this had More attention. And I hope the reboot seasons get aired sometime. They deserve it. This is amazing, haven't seem anything like this is so long.
It’s speechless and really sweet that she’s not speaking. Thank you 😊 Back then I like it when she do speaks, but when she uses her technological vow of silence, then it’s beautiful. 😢 my eyes were watery
This is freaking amazing! The reveal of Jenny and only seeing her through her emotions instead of words is brilliant. The little girl character is great and I loved how Nora gave us an explanation into why she built Jenny the way she was instead of just making her like a droid or something.
Oh wow, this animatic gave me major Iron Giant vibes, especially the scene where Sierra tells Jenny/XJ-9 how fragile living things are, and just the fact both shows go for that 50's art deco aestetic. I like that Jenny doesn't talk yet, that being her initial error, since all the XJs start off defective in some way, and it allows Jenny to be humanised without her needing to speak. I definitely hope the full episode is given as much time as it needs, maybe make it a 2-parter if you need the time. The show is great but that 10-minute format definitely hurt its ability to tell a story that had enough time to flesh things out. Don't let the format of the original show restrict you from telling this story, it needs the time to breathe and will be better for it.
Welp this got a few tears out of me cause of Jenny’s characterization, so you are doing a great job. I hope things are working out on your end, cause this has genuine potential to restore what was cancelled years ago.
8:10 P A P E R W O R K In all seriousness though, this animatic was one of the best MLAATR fan animations I have ever seen. I can not wait to see what you guys will do with Part 2, even if it takes 10 years.
That...was...INCREDIBLE!!! Im normally no one for reboots but this is one of those cases where lightning does strike twice. I cant wait for the day this is fully animated. All it really takes is a dream and a whole lot of drive.
It's so cool! It saves spirit of the original show and combines it with some EPIC and drama. Can't wait to see the final result, too sad this animatic has less than a million views it deserves better.
I literally love the animatic, I love the story. It was very interesting to watch, I thought that It would look so cool when It would have like a movie of this, this video but just with graphics and stuff. I like that it shows that Jenny is scared of everything bec she doesn't know almost anything about the life outside, the ending was sick. And I am amazed that Jenny is learning new things and the fact that she is a robot and has to be gentle with humans and animals.✨✨💙
I know I'm super late, but _man_ this reboot is good. I watched this when it first released but never commented on it, so I'm doing that now. Even if this was only in animatic form it was still amazing, I love how you did Jenny's character. There's a couple of little moments that connect to the main series and make it much more heartfelt, like the part when Sierra tells Jenny about her mom. I'm really excited to see how the full version will play out if this is only half.
Holy crap this has some real quality movie vibes for a series reboot AND I LOVE THIS SO FAR!! . Awesome work. This whole reboot series could be a legit real movie. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK. Critical Thoughts : If anything some critical scenes can be played out like having the police still searching Jenny after the explosion she caused tipping the can. Also after said explosion the girl Sierra could say a few lines like saying "what was that explosion?" then proceeds to see what happened. Audio quality can be improved and also having the voice actors can give more feelings to screaming scenes or laughing scenes etc. But of course I'm not an expert on everything here is just my opinion. Everything else in this video, in my opinion, is really went put together and really spot on to capture the next moment. The pacing of each scene is great and I can't wait to see the next part.
I feel like if she said, "what was that explosion?" It would have been too much. It reminds me of a bad Highschool play. If I was still a little girl, I'd have just walked towards it or ran away, or called for my mom. In my opinion, what they did in that aspect was perfect.
This is incredible, a lot of the feedback people gave to this animatic I agree with too. For what it is though, this feels like this would be the direction the show would take had it continued today. Amazing work!
Mostly Everyone Does! Why not a new version like this except with the spirit of the original? That way, both serious AND humor-loving people can be happy! Both sides happy! Best of both worlds! Something for everyone!
This was so fantastic!!! Oh my gosh I have nothing but positive things to say about this project, every scene showed such different varieties of emotions, and I loved how you still incorporated the comedy from the original series!! It fit so well and made the whole viewing experience so much fun!! I loved watching this so much, thank you to everyone who worked on this!! you are all doing such a spectacular job!!
I love all the detail you guys put into this. A perfect example is Jenny's voice. She can't talk because, as we see on one of the monitors, wakeman was installing that just as her house was stormed. I also love the detail of Jenny's psychology at the end of the episode. Earlier on, Noreen said that she's a learning machine and has her own morality. She sees the stray cat and her hud tells her that it's a possible threat and should be eliminated. But instead she first tries the peaceful route and succeeds where other machines in the past have failed (as wakeman said she would).
so first off, i love the style this went in, second off if any of the voice acting cast see this you guys were stupendous seriously that was some great acting and work you all did
To be honest....I got so zoned in that i even forgot it was in rough form still. The thoughts behind everything are astounding and gave me goosebumps. Please please keep this project going as much as you can. You got a very good thing going here . lots of work but its gonna be amazing in the end. Big thanks to the fans and everyone behind this. Feels like movie from the beginning and even that would bring a lot of fans in and keep the series going.
Wow... it didn't matter to me that the graphics and voices were incomplete, I still felt I was watching an actual episode of MLaaTR. It was almost like watching a rough draft of one that the genuine creators before made; I would like to know who's voices you are mainly looking for and if you need help from others elsewhere. You nailed the transitions, expressions, background music, and most voices for the characters. This was AWESOME, not being polite... thank you!
Even in a rough form, this Animatic truly feels like it has spirit. The usage of showing over telling in this is masterful, and having Jenny speaking solely through actions and emotions is displayed absolutely perfectly through the art and animation. This 19 minute video truly does feel like it's paying tribute to its source material, expanding the story in a new yet still believable way. Absolutely fantastic, each and every part of it...
This was such great story telling without the need of much dialogue. I really like the tone, and feel this was a perfect way to introduce jenny. Can't wait to see more!! (((:
And that scene where she Utilizes her tech in time with her movement in a way that looked logical to catch that sign and how adorable yet timid she was, I can’t wait for more.
First of all, this is by far the best use of Riding With the Top Down since Iron Man. Second, not only is this the best MLAATR episode I've seen, this may be one of the best superhero stories I've seen in a while. Admittedly it does borrow a few clichés from other 'robotic creatures learning to be human' stories (mute like Bumblebee yet heroic as the Iron Giant), but those clichés are sprinkled in with genuinely smart and moving moments. Too many superhero stories these days sadly go for spectacle or flash, while this story keeps it surprisingly down to Earth. I dig it! Not only that, but it brilliantly answered a question that I never knew needed answering: Why IS she a teenager? Why leave the fate of the world into a metallic teen with an attitude to match? Spider-Man and the Titans made good arguments in favor of teenage heroes, but Nora Wakeman's monologue on why Jenny is one is fantastic! Heck, the fact that it also explains why Nora's other creations came out the way they did is also really clever. Outside of the borrowed clichés thing, my only other complaint would be Nora's voice. Melody Dickens does a decent job imitating Candi Milo, but there are times when it's somewhat hard to understand her. Fix that pronunciation problems and she'd honestly be perfect for the part. Still, if this is what it looks like rough, I am fully on board to see how it looks in color! Even then, I'd just be happy to see Part 2, animatic or not. I don't want more of this... I NEED more of this!
You guys are amazing! You've been working all these years on this project for a reason. I liked the way you first introduced Jenny to Sierra. It was the right decision to introduce the main character to the child, as children make new friends faster and it is easier for them to understand the emotions of their friends. Sierra contributed to Jenny's better understanding of the world. I also liked the way you voiced the characters. Nora Wakeman's voice came out quite similar to that of the original animated series. You perfectly conveyed all the emotions of the characters. I disagree if you think the first episode is too long. Even if it is 44 minutes or more, it is a great start to reintroduce all the characters and get the whole atmosphere plot. Anyway thanks for this awesome and high quality preview animatic! (Bad English, Google Translate helped)
Really feel like you captured Jenny’s character at 10:33 to 10:43, as she return triumphant only to be caught off-guard by the human she so proudly saved
This was amazing and well worth the wait. My only suggestion would to add more moments of comedy when possible in order to balance out the dramatic moments. It would help enhance the feeling of this being the same show we knew and loved as kids, but at the same time, grown up to match the age of original fans
People are able to be youthful in heart. As long as the heart at least feels young, nothing is impossible. Maturity is different for everyone, it has different forms, different people mature differently and that thing is subjective. Maturity has more than one meaning. Just saying. That said, more comedic moments is good to use there. People are always desperate to be serious, regarded as such, and to be taken as that, all mainly simply to be big shots. Of course, then again, Many like funny! Myself included!
I remember hearing something about this project a LONG time ago. At first I thought it was nothing more than vapor ware and just someone saying false nonsense. Color me surprised to find this today and find something was actually made and it is actually really good. Looking forward to the full finished version.
This is what i needed From Mlaatr, more serious and dramatic tone in story. I see what MLAATR has big potential to make series more interesting if they could put drama with moral questions like "do robot has feelings? Why I'm existing? What's the meaning of life?" and something else, and i want to thank you so much Team MLAATR rebooted to make this dream come true. Even this is rough animatic, actually there are even not bad illustration, i love it too much. Prologue of how Jenny becoming hero is freaking amazing in everything, in story, ost, voice actors, and arts. Decision to make Jenny without her voice was a great, we can more sympathise for her and put ourselves instead her like Gordon freeman. I'm feeling her agony, sadness, and not understanding what is danger and what is not. That's 10000000/10, I'm believing in your project guys, have a great luck 🌌👍
Holy cow, that was amazing! I really don't have any complaints, but I don't think it was too long. It's a nice stand-alone episode. I cant wait to see the final product! Great job!
I do like the more serious nature of the draft. Can't help but not be able to wait very well from the action. The adrenaline rushing through my body from the situation is quite a feeling to be had with a series opening.
I remember hearing about this project YEARS ago and was very interested, then forgot to look into it more. Then today I'd been looking into other old cartoons (like Jimmy Neutron), and it led to me coming across this project once again. And I just have to say that there are no words to express just how AWESOME this rough draft is! The story, the pacing, the characterizations, it's all PERFECT! It feels like a true draft of the actual show! Obviously things still need tweaking like Nora's voice actress (if she's still the voice, I know the notes said this was her temporary voice) needing to enunciate more on her words which I understand is hard with that distinct and thick accent, but you guys have got something great going and I can't wait to see what becomes of it in the future! I'm so happy to see that it's still being worked on after all this time.
Yep. Saw XJ9 and the cat. Followed by this because I did not realize this existed. Found them by chance and I have to say. Great job! Watched the show by Rob Renzetti on Cartoon Network and I miss it. Poor frightened Jenny, newly activated, unsure of the world and people. confused. Have to check back for more. Great work!
This is wonderful! There are awesome moments of character development already, like when Jenny plays with the hero toys and the butterfly 🦋 this is really something special in the making and I hope it comes to fruition soon!!! Plus the intro scene where it looks almost scary as she throws around the soldiers was also paced very cool - I can’t wait to watch this :)
I can see with the concept of Jenny not being able to talk feels like it leads way for writers/animators to show MORE expression of following the format of "show, don't tell" Something the series "Samurai Jack" influences I'm feeling here. I mean we still have the side characters sharing the exposition and showing viewers of the world building such new addition of OTHER robots utilized in average life of society too which is cool build up. Sierra is an interesting introduction for the reboot too, probably the first human too to give X-J9 first steps to becoming humanized as well, teaching how to be "gentle" as well. Looking forward to final release, I just LOVE the pace that has been set so far, can't wait for the finalized animation set is going to look like.
I think it was a wonderful chose to not have Jenny speak in this episode so we are just getting her emotions and what she is thinking through the fantastic art work! And we ARE getting the emotions!

@@RiderNexus yeah and that worked for exactly that reason, it’s about show not tell. That and they actually got a good look of the transformers
I always like silent protagonists, because they can use their actions and expressions to convey character and in some cases tell the story.
Well she probably didn't have any voice synthesizers or universal language disks or anything like that and it was probably added on by Nora later on so...I think that's pretty cool!
Silent because no decent voices in this
I always found Nora and Jenny's characters to be interesting polarization of each other. Nora is hard-working scientist who seems to be more comfortable with machines with people, while Jenny is a robot with strong emotions who is more interested in being a part of humanity than Nora is. That's something to think about.

Lol 😁
Ps. I heard some Charlie and the Chocolate Factory music in there, lol. It was surprisingly fitting.
You forgot to mention how they changed the setting too.
In OG series it was our world, with very rare technology progress shown(mostly by villains or aliens)
Here, Jenny's creator, Wakeman, is only one of many scientists and technology seems rampant in this world.
The reason Jenny is so likable here, Is because you know what she eventually becomes in the future, She's always had a wonderful nature hiding behind her "Teen Angst"
This show-cased that in it's full form, Nothing censored. She hasn't learned from anything yet, But you can see she still has the same "Flare" she has in the Show.
"Like when she laser-blasted her Name XJ-9 on the Wall and presented it like it was the best thing ever, That was extremely "Jenny" lmao"

It's because she learned it from someone else first.
Very smart of them for thinking of it like that. Jenny's Humanity always seemed to be stronger then even all of the Robotic Weapons she had access too. It's what got her out of most of her more "Dangerous" situations after-all.

I agreed with that.
Maybe Like Samurai Jack, a move to adult swim or something like what vizie pop is doing.
Как это верно, англоязычный товарищ, я поддерживаю вашу точку зрения касательно данного проекта.
"Or the Butterfly one really, But I think Jenny won't make another mistake like that again, That was a bit brutal after-all"
Similar to the MCU in that regard: humor in awkward places can ruin serious moments and pull you out of the film.

You never said it, just a thought of mine.
Honestly I’d prefer this being the main pilot more than It Came From Next Door.
It’s an ok episode. But this feels more... personal or deep
I guess
I have a couple theories on how it can evolve into the beginning of the show. After all...I think the project is mean to be a season 4....so I guess they're covering the very beginning before fast forwarded to after the final episode?
the beauty of a reboot is respecting and paying homage to the original while still making it your own
I really like the OL show though this is also amazing
>but I'm not sure how this introduction would flow organically with how the show began in "It Came From Next Door"
I don't see anything that's worse than the show itself in that regard.
But she’s learning
Congratulations on getting the first part out! Spectacular work!

Nora is kind of hard to understand
yeah i will admit the Nora VA does need a little bit more practice but i will admit after watching it a few more times it kinda grew on me
Yeah I wonder what they’re gonna do once they fully develop this reboot series 🤔

Jenny killed a butterfly....😂👍 you guys got this reboot in the bag. No joke...
Poor butterfly :(
The reveal of Jenny was actually so badass! I’m so excited about this, I love the tone and mood this sets.
I think she’ll be able to talk somewhere In the beginning Of the TV 📺 series
'Episode length is too long'
Honestly? I'd disagree. The pacing in this works really well, and the original show's 11 minute episodes always made them feel a bit rushed. For the story you're trying to tell here, a 20ish minute episode length seems appropriate. If worse comes to worse you could always split this into 2 smaller episodes, or even combine it with Part 2 for a sort-of TV movie.
Also I know it's just placeholder music, but the use of the Iron Man soundtrack as Jenny saves Sierra is too perfect.
Exactly...kind of like "Victim of Fashion"!
That is what I’m thinking. I wanted them to do the Netflix length style aspect. Fuck the runtimes. Just write it the way you wanted to do.
I like that idea, I feel like with this not only being the big return, but also the theme of the episode, this really deserves to be a movie, and thats something I think everyone would enjoy

It's so cool! It saves spirit of the original show and combines it with some EPIC and drama. Can't wait to see the final result, too sad this animatic has less than a million views it deserves better.
How have I not discovered this before now? This is awesome!
Critical Thoughts :
If anything some critical scenes can be played out like having the police still searching Jenny after the explosion she caused tipping the can.
Man I missed this show, I'm rather happy to see such a good animation that seems to stay true to the main show!

Not gonna lie, I did not expect this to be as fantastic as it is. But you guys really knocked it out of the park! I can't wait to see more.
Wow... it didn't matter to me that the graphics and voices were incomplete, I still felt I was watching an actual episode of MLaaTR. It was almost like watching a rough draft of one that the genuine creators before made; I would like to know who's voices you are mainly looking for and if you need help from others elsewhere. You nailed the transitions, expressions, background music, and most voices for the characters. This was AWESOME, not being polite... thank you!
Same with me
Cant wait for this to be fully animated and coloured.
dead project
Fake
Even in a rough form, this Animatic truly feels like it has spirit. The usage of showing over telling in this is masterful, and having Jenny speaking solely through actions and emotions is displayed absolutely perfectly through the art and animation. This 19 minute video truly does feel like it's paying tribute to its source material, expanding the story in a new yet still believable way. Absolutely fantastic, each and every part of it...
Wow the best Origin
This is how you adult an old cartoon series. Bloody brilliant!
VELMA TAKE NOTES
Ok I won’t lie, the fact that Jenny doesn’t speak is amazing.
I want the full-animated version! That history was really cute and dramatic!
yes
Yeah, a good 👍🏿 full feature animation Movie 🎥 sounds great 😉👍🏿
I popped so hard at XANA being one of the name choices, the small references are what truly get me
This was such great story telling without the need of much dialogue.
I absolutely love the more mature take on the story and cannot wait to see more
this isn't your normal Mlaatr episode. it is something more. Can't wait to see it !
I like this. It feels darker but still the same.
Nick: *cancelled the show*
Society: *hold my beer*
Remember: Bob Botsford says No One Truly Outgrows Fun!
If this was a series I would probably watch it over the original
I remember hearing something about this project a LONG time ago. At first I thought it was nothing more than vapor ware and just someone saying false nonsense. Color me surprised to find this today and find something was actually made and it is actually really good. Looking forward to the full finished version.
Oh my God... I CAN'T WAIT!!!
Same
*_YOOOOOOOOOOO THIS IS AMAZING I LOVE HOW JENNY DOESN'T EVEN NEED TO TALK TO SHOW HER EMOTIONS, AND USING BODY LANGAUGE_*
I can't stop watching Jenny pick up and throw the billboard.
This needs more attention
Wow, this feels like an episode of Samurai Jack!
A heavy atmosphere, a serious story. We met a work with a new atmosphere. And I'm sure this is a masterpiece!
Loved the Iron Man reference!
Great job! Watched the show by Rob Renzetti
on Cartoon Network and I miss it. Poor frightened Jenny, newly activated, unsure of the
world and people.
