I grew up from the mid 60's thru 70's and 80's. My favorite male singer of all time was Ray Charles. Pure talent, pure sole. Now I kept this from my friends for several reasons back then; I was a poor white boy raised in a trailer park in Columbus GA. Now, don't get me wrong, I loved me some rock and roll; Allman Brothers all the way to Lynyard Skynyrd, but Ray was the man. Now, along comes Chris Stapleton.

A song that Chris sang with the old band he was part of....the Steeldrivers....is CAN YOU RUN. Listen to the lyrics closely, they tell quite a story. He can sing anything, but my favs are the songs he sings that tell a story and bring important history alive. I've rarely seen anyone react to this song, but it's an important story in song.

"Those gentlemen" are the band & his producer. JT Cure on bass has been with Chris for a couple decades & is Chris's best friend. Derek Mixon on drums has been with Chris almost as long. Dave Cobb has been his producer for about 10 yrs. & frequently plays guitar at performances.

She only made one album, won a grammy tied with Patti Labelle, then did not make another album and went back to her first love, being a background singer for Tina Turner, the Rolling Stones, Sting and many more artists. She did not have the the success as a soloist but she is pure talent, no auto tune and can hit the ranges better than Mariah Carey. check that song out. And that Japan performance she is smoking hot!
