Chris Stapleton is #1 in my opinion because it was SO FULL OF HEART. I mean, it was a transcendent cry to God that hit the feels big time. I love Whitney’s version for the sheer power of her vocals, but it didn’t have the same level of heart. Peace.

The run he does for "were so gallantly streaming" opens the way for the most emotional portion of the anthem. You get up at the same moment I did. It was simply too much. So charged. Well done Mr. Stapleton. Well done.

I love everything you said and your views. You said it all. Thank you so very much. Whitney set the bar. She's an entity unto herself. Chris is too, but their styles are so different, I just enjoy both without comparing them. To compare is unfair, to both artists. And I've seen other folks commenting that Whitney was better because she was black. A beautiful, talented voice has no color. Music has style but no color. I don't care if an artist is Pink or Green if they sing well! I just enjoy them and their ability. Period. Thank you dear Sir for your reaction. May God bless you always.

One, thank you for not pausing out of respect for our Nation's National Anthem. That song is sacred and whomever is singing it should be judged after the song is over. My grandmother was an Italian immigrant and I remember, as a little girl, learning this song so I can sing it to her. She was blind, I was 4. I am now 62. I am a huge fan of Chris Stapleton and Whitney Houston and IMHO they are the two best renditions. Whitney sang it with true passion IMO. And, Chris sang it with true passion as well. And, I liked his "low key" easy style that just resonated respect for our Nation and all who sacrifice time and their lives so that we may live ours. God Bless you & God Bless America!

Whitney will always be known for her rendition of our anthem. Chris has such an amazing talent, he sang it like he was at home or on the porch. More big vocal singers who sing the entire time loud and overboard to show you how powerful they are do not understand how singing quietly can be so much more powerful to your soul. whitney did it, Chris did it and more singers need to do this. It makes everyone lean in and listen. The crowd at the stadium was quiet and so tuned in to hear him.

That bass guitar, those (I think 5 strums, but I'm no expert), 5 strong strokes when he sang " Banner yet wave" made whoever wasn't already crying just close their eyes and look like they were at church praying! This kind of talent is God-given and I thank God himself for the talent he gave Chris Stapleton! Not to mention I thank Chris Stapleton himself for sharing his God-given Talent with us! ABSOLUTELY CLASSIC!!! I also CAN NOT stand when anyone chops the National Anthem up to try and show off their own "vocal abilities"!!! Our Anthem should get the upmost respect instead of the singers "proof to the public" about their own abilities.... I think Whitney's and Chris's performances both held the upmost respect for the song being "sung the way it's supposed to be"!!! World Class!!!!

Both Chris and Whitney sang in their own style's but didn't leery it interfere with the basic's or meaning of the song at all! Thank you too for the not pausing the video until the song was over! Much respect!!! My favorite part is when he strums that guitar harder for 5 or so strokes while singing the words "banner yet wave", i think my own heart stopped and tried to pick up the beat of him hitting those cords! Then of couse early in the song the words "gave proof through tonight" made me want to go to church immediately! Along with a few other places where the sound of soul is so evident in his natural singing voice,,,,smh. He's just so special and blessed it leaves me speechless! Also having already known how humble and just down to earth of a person he is made this such a pure and special rendition of the National Anthem I dont think anyone will surpass what he so elegantly did that evening!!!!

What's sad is 80% of people don't know the story behind the star-spangled banner

I was absolutely furious at the NFL. There is only ONE National Anthem!
With your age, you must learn about “How the National Anthem Was Witten” the video has been reacted to a lot. And all end with the same powerful reaction…We Didn’t Know.

I know Whitney’s version is considered the best. I thought it was overdone and she lip synced. Chris’s is now the gold standard for me.

Whitney did it the best in her style, however in all fairness to Chris, Whitney's was prerecorded, Chris did it live, and as we all know Chris is better live thant in studio. Not to many performers can do it live better than recorded, even possibly Whitney.

Usually after a superbowl, it’s the halftime act who’s sales skyrocket, Rihanna’s sales went up, but not like Chris Stapleton.

You can not copy Whitney, she is unique. I can not chose my favorite between the two of them. After those two the mic dropped.
