    I always call myself a social introvert! People oftentimes get introvert confused with shy or antisocial. It just means that when you're around people you get more tired than when you're alone. I love love people but if you're making me talk for longer than 2 hours at a time and I stick around then you're special 😂

    I can say that I purchased some items on a couple of live shows that were absolute crap! It's hard to tell, even in a live show, the true condition of an item. I'm learning to be more discerning in my purchases. I think many resellers are trying to get rid of items that don't sell, but are not quality items to begin with. I'll be checking out Ashley's live shows and looking forward to seeing what she is selling.

      I agree I bought a star wars bracelet that turned out to be Temu fake she bought for $2 and sold for over $10 and a pair of sandals that showed up used with cracks in the plastic straps. Totally unwearable.

    I appreciate this video however the data and numbers for most people doing a live show are not in their favor. Besides the incredibly low start prices, there is now becoming an oversaturation of live videos. As of right now there are 159 Posh live shows and 1253 Whatnot shows going on (Friday May 26 at 8:20 CA time) Approximately 60% have less than 10 people in them and over 75% have less than 25 people in them. Plus the average starting bid on Whatnot is a $1-5 start and Posh is $3-5 starts (which means you get how much after a 20% fee?) . The math does not look favorably on anyone that doesn't have a following or isn't higher up the search engine (which both platforms do not reveal their algorithms) Of course this is a higher traffic time and to have a better understanding you'd need to look at different time periods etc but I did another one on a Sunday afternoon and even though there were less live videos (only 600 on Whatnot) the metric were pretty much the same. I appreciate people who are doing well with these shows and I'm not saying that these auction style shows are horrible. I just think that there really needs to be some honesty when it comes to the risks and time/ money that it could take to do this (especially because on average sales are down and people are starting to get worried and possibly desperate). Doing these lives are like starting a TH-cam channel and hoping to make money from it (it is very hard). Plus from a personal perspective it feels a lot like high school and it being a popularity contest. I love reselling from a sustainability aspect and the ability for people to make some money AND save stuff from going into a landfill... chef's kiss. I just think maybe there needs to be some data to back up these testimonials.

      Ashley is great at what she does but I'm concerned about all of the unprofessional Posh Shows dragging down the reputation of Poshmark even further than it already is - it only takes one bad impression or experience to turn a buyer off the platform forever. That impacts all of us as sellers.
      I wish Posh would focus more on improving the fundamentals like a functioning search and less on these fluff items but I realize live selling is the "shiny object" now.

    • @rachelmclaughlan8516
      @rachelmclaughlan8516 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@styleonrepeat definitely! I'm not trying to come for anyone and Ashley seems awesome. I haven't seen her lives but the interview was great and she seems to be doing well which is fantastic. I also really appreciate Becky Park. I think there is a lot of noise regarding this style of selling being the new thing and a lot of people are jumping on without seeing the numbers. From a lot of the reddit and facebook chats people are feeling that they "have" to do this to make money instead of doing it because it's fun for them . And this I think creates some very very bad live shows. And 100% a bad experience can deter you from shopping on a platform and impacts all of us. I think that's why I've been vocal about the research so that maybe we can all make an educated decision about what is best for our own personal business and maybe save some time doing something that might suck up a lot of our effort and money.

    Thank you both. You are two very positive women!
    I personally don’t want to do live sales now or ever, but I am happy to know it’s working for Ashley. I’m not interested in watching the shows either. I wonder if they are more appealing to younger women? I’m older and not an impulse buyer. Who knows if live shows are a fad or if they will be around forever. All the best to both of you!!

    I really want to get into live selling but as Ashley mentioned, you have to have a steady flow of inventory or have access to getting wholesale/bulk inventory and I don't have that right now. I also agree with not starting items at $1. I feel like people who advertise that way expect and actually have 100+ people in their shows so their items are never going to sell at $1, it's all marketing and getting people in. I think smaller sellers or newer people are afraid they won't get people in or make sales if they don't have $1 or super low starts and it's like if you're going to lose money doing that, why would you want those sales anyways?

    It’s nice that she explained the “Art of Surprise” being a successful factor in bringing viewers to the live shows. I also think for me it’s a catch 22. If I look into a preloaded show and there’s nothing there I’m interested in I will leave the show but I’ve found that I have grown tired of waiting around for hours on the unboxing shows to see if I’m interested in anything. I’ve stopped watching shows as much as I initially did because I feel it wastes too much of my time. I prefer to shop on Posh the “old fashioned way”, buy a listing I like. I also noticed that Posh has been offering cash prize incentives recently for watching and purchasing from a live show. I’m curious how lives are going for the majority. My guess is not great, after the newness and hype wears off people are not as interested and not sure how long it can be maintained. I appreciate hearing her sharing her experiences as a reseller.

    • @WindTurbineSyndrome

      Posh has to offer non buyers a chance to enter check the blog. It is against federal law to only allow a person who purchased to be eligible. They may hide it but a link to enter without purchase has to be somewhere. I purchased live show and wish I hadn't -100% junk showed up.

    Live shows have destroyed sales. They are for lack of a better word tacky. People chowing down, screaming at their kids, saying this is so cute 15xs in a 30 second auction. Oh and the MUSIC or the TV blaring and staticky where you can’t even hear what the person is saying. Oh and the person looking like they rolled out of bed. Do you think I would trust buying anything from sellers like that? Gross.

      Thank you for this comment. Look presentable and professional during the shows. I will note this for myself doing live shows. Speak clear, loud enough, no loud background noises and look like you cared to look decent that day. This is really humbling to know what buyers are thinking because this really matters to me as a seller!

  • @ryansmithc
    @ryansmithc ปีที่แล้ว +19

    Live shows is a race to the bottom and 100k sales means nothing with knowledge of her cost price and etc.. With this many items imo she's underperforming vs what a comparable Ebay store of her size would do. That's because most of the items are either overpriced or mid. Resorting to liquidating your dead pile is not a viable business long term. Most of these live show sellers will say anything to appear successful.

      Didn’t watch much of video . I have them on in background while I work . My experience ( not specifically stating it’s these two ) but there’s a huge difference between being a reseller vs being a TH-cam creator .
      I’d wager many of these resellers are making more money throwing out videos to create content , than actual reselling …Also , if you don’t have a following , expect under a dozen people at your show . I popped in to a few , small audience and low priced ( low profit ) items

      I tend to move things faster on Lives but at lower prices than my listings to stay competitive with all the shows that are going on at the same time. It seems like unless you have a loyal following and viewership of over 20 or more, it’s hard to get the bidding wars that drive up profits.

      When your able to sell in volume and source in volume at a very low cog even $2 profit on 50k items will make ypu 100k in a year! A lot of you guys are to focused on getting the most for your item instead of trying to do volume like us live sellers! We can do volume much easier because most sales on selling sites are individual people but most of my live sales are bundles and people buying sometime 20+ items from me! I get it you don’t wanna whole sale tour items but it may profit you in the end!

Times to post office she has a big store all beautiful shoes most are about $$40-200 price point . She would buy $50 shoe to sell for $70 and if she got a offer she would take it not realizing she broke even or lost. She looks busy my friend is busy but thank god she has a fiancé paid no bills n brought high credit card debt lol to the relationship well they r married now so she still has all these shoes and now they r siting

    I hate the whatnot shows were they don't run the items and ask if it's something they want to run... I leave those and find the show where they are running items. I will wait for the item I want and usually buy a few in between since I am waiting anyway and want the discounted shipping. I also love the sudden death auctions.

      I have to tell you as a seller for nearly three years it's a good side hustle I made over $27k in that time. My goal is $1000 a month. Posh is very social media you have to stay engaged answer questions list good photos etc it's doable. Posh take care if all sales tax. Drop ship is very convenient. Try it for 6 months but you have to build followers and share to posh shows. Suggest good brand bags (coach etc) and sterling jewelry or Disney they sell well. Lululemon is always hot brand athleisure. For me Betsey Johnson sells very well. The preppy brands Lilly Pulitzer does well. You won't know til you try.
