L Adams, it was the 30th reunion of the band for a live performance, as I heard it (not the release of the album). My understanding is that when the band finished the tour in 1982, Tony said something to the effect of "if we're all still alive in 30 years, let's do it again." They obviously all made the 30-year survival mark, then had to get something scheduled.
L Adams - not to correct (again), but as I said, the show was the 30th reunion of the band for a live performance, which is essentially what you said as well. The t-shirts sold by Milton at the event said "32 Years of Music", NOT "32nd Anniversary." I can post a picture if you'd like as one is in my dirty clothes hamper. We realize it's been 32 years since the album was released, but this was the 30th reunion of the band playing together - plus time to get a show scheduled..
Their first performance was actually in San Francisco, CA at The Great American Music Hall on October 25, 1981. The tour Milton was talking about kicked off July 10, 1982 at Denton, NC. The t-shirts Milton sold in Asheville surrounding their February 16, 2013 performance said "32nd Anniversary" which I assume refers to since the original recording of the first album. But even so, their first performance was more than 31 years ago. Not trying to split hairs, just presenting the facts.
Thanks for posting this, Alan. I did not realize that Josh is that old, but at my age, everybody looks young.
Great to see Tony Rice on stage and doing his thing. I had heard he was having some health problems.

My t-shirt says "32 Years Later..." There were two difference styles though.
needs the dobro of jerry douglas in there to complete the sound...like the album
It was actually the 32nd anniversary, not 30th.
Bascomblodge: Understand Tony is suffering from Throat Disphonia.
