absolutely infuriating to hear people saying that impossible burgers and beyond meat will replace beef. Of course the 3 city based people are talking about how bad the meat industry is. most vegan/vegetarian farms kill all insects, small game, and other wandering animals coming onto the farms. A cow farmer wouldn't pour pesticides into the grass his beef eats.
So many people are ignorant to agriculture these days and just give into these companies marketing schemes and PETA's slander of anything related to animal agriculture.
For me it's the way animals for meat are treated. I have never had an issue with hunting for food, or even well raised and cared for animals for slaughter. However, people don't tend to think of the ramifications of just everyone not eating meat, like do you think they will all just go home to their planet? No, an overly abundant cow population in an area without enough things to kill them is going to destroy the land. There are parts where people have to hunt deer because the population gets too big and becomes a hazard, or they just start starving to death.
People that think poor treatment for animals is okay are just an ignorant as people that think no one should eat meat.

Kaya is wrong on all accounts regarding the ESC. The total viewership each year reaches almost 200 million. Germany and UK entries were bad. As for how the voting works, in a nutshell the viewer isn't allowed to vote for their own country. UK receiving 0 points means they got 0 points from the other participating countries' jurors and viewers. Last but not least, it's trashy fun. Think Fire Saga. It's actually fairly accurate to the experience. It's really a homage.

I've had opinions about plant-based meats. I've tried them, and they taste fine. However, the notion to outlaw farming livestock, which if done correctly is sustainable, is just preposterous. I'm not against lab-grown meat or meat alternatives, but it could never act as a replacement for agriculture.
True and plant-based meat is also made with so many different chemicals and shit. I honestly wouldnt trust not getting cancer if I replaced meats with plant-based meats.

@@deadrizen the planet was doing fine before we artificially introduced those species plus I’m pretty sure meat would slowly be phased out rather than one day being completely banned if we ever did decide to stop eating meat completely which as a vegetarian I don’t think is necessary

Over time humans have bred them to increase meat, milk, and egg production, but the species existed long before that.
I do agree that slowly phasing out meat would be the way to do it if we ever were to, but I still believe that would push those farm animals close to extinction, which is the point I was trying to make earlier.

It's not that healthy and still requires death or harvested animals to make them, even if they're kept alive. It's also much more expensive, so anyone trying to push this shit should tell that to the average consumer that wouldn't be able to afford it. It's like veganism being pushed, they never think about 90% of the world that can't afford to normalize this stuff.

@@ndt7379 It does not require death and harvested animals. That is a bold claim. There are going to be a small amount of unintentional insect and maybe animal deaths involved however those deaths are not at all "required " as we aren't relying on those deaths for the product to be made.
Also, to address that "90%of the world cannot afford to normalize this stuff" is entirely false. All 1st world countries can which is about 15% of the world already and most 2nd world countries can at an estimated 10%, so a total estimation of 25% in terms of normalizing products like impossible meats for example however when in comes to supporting veganism in general It'd be at least 90% though I may be wrong.

They did, most of us did, but doesn't make it right or enjoyable. It's part of the reason our current (well, pre-covid) school system is such garbage. Kids are not fully awake and ready to learn that early in the morning. My main motivation for graduating was being able to sleep in until 10am finally.

How nieve do you have to be to not know that prisoners can kill other inmates while they are in prison. It's a pretty common thing... just because a murderer is in prison, doesn't mean that they can't still kill. Unless they are deemed so dangerous that they have to be in solitary confinement for their entire sentence. But that is extremely rare.

The impossible meat bit reminded me that I conned my Hispanic half of the family into eating soy-rizo (soy chorizo) egg and cheese burritos for breakfast and they were amazed at how great it was and were blown out of the water when I revealed that it wasn't beef or pork.
