I was SO MAD when I realized that they didn't finish Bohemian Rhapsody! They sound incredible singing it! Zac Brown Band does an outstanding cover of Bohemian as well.

This was an April Fools drop and we were ALL Rick Rolled! Not just once but three times. When they finally dropped the full version we all died. The costumes, the dances, Tim's worm , Austin's Canadian tuxedo. Classic!

Yup, Austin went full ham on this one, and it was GLORIOUS! Tim wasn't far behind, and I think even Chance is under-rated, with his "I'm too cool for this normally, but heck I can bring on the Dad-dancing too!" vibe.
As to how they can still look great while performing goofy dance moves? The secret is *100% commitment.* It's what I was taught on my Performing Arts course; if you know you're going to be doing something where you'll be looking ridiculous, the secret is to do it 100% seriously, as if you truly believe what you're doing is the coolest thing a human could do and everyone's going to be wowed by it. Sounds crazy, but it does work!

Funniest thing is most of this Band remembers an OK amount of the 80s too. Timmy is the elder at 42 (so 1981). Rob is 37. Chance is 38.
I'm sure Rob is older than that. Austin has always been the 'baby' around 5 years younger than the rest, and he's now 38. Chance is older.than him too.

Austin's crotch thrust move is called The Urkel. It's the signature dance move of Steve Urkel in the 90's tv show Family Matters.
These guys are so goofy & funny but the vocals never suffer. This was them spoofing the famous song by Rick Astley from the 80's. They copied the clothes, hairstyles & dance moves from the original video. Also they filmed it in the old resolution from that time. The guys were very creative in bringing us great content during the pandemic.
DJ, they Rickrolled us THREE TIMES that particular April Fools Day. Three times, and we were all getting a bit twitchy. I think they didn't drop the full song until the next day, if I recall correctly.

When I was a young impressionable actor in London, I had a boyfriend for a short while who was a film producer. I thought he was very sophisticated. Then we went to a party and he hit the dance floor. I'm not kidding, it was very close to Austin's Spastic Chicken. I fled and wouldn't speak to him again. There is a TikTok on Austin's account of Amberly in the middle of doing his hair, hairspray in hand and a curious expression of someone who doesn't know whether to laugh or weep. His TikTok and IG accounts from a few years back are full of gems like that (his foul-mouthed Micky Mouse is my favourite). I believe this was the first appearance in a video of Austin's cat Dawg, but since then he has graduated to starring roles.
There's nothing piratical about Tim's make up. That's a genuine Mark Knopfler hairdo. At the time quite a lot of young men went out dancing in full make up, and very nice they looked too. A friend of mine used to take me to THE gay club in London, Heaven, and Tim would have fitted right in (more than I did, never convincing anyone that I was a man in drag).
There are other Rickrolling intros to check out, particularly Bohemian Rhapsody. My Heart Will Go On is just plain ridiculous.

In 2019 Rick Astley released an album titled The Best of Me, with some of his original tracks and some reimagined versions, including a slowed down version of Never Gonna Give You Up. It’s just Rick and a piano and it’s absolutely beautiful

As far as the song, it is still being played on one of our local radio stations. It seems proof that people like the song well enough for it to be played decades after it came out. Of course Home Free always manages to make a song sound better than the original.

@itzel1735 Actually, you may be right on that - I didn't know about the competitions otherwise (old and British) so my brain didn't catch on to that bit. I'm pretty sure it was with school, but they could have been competing as a team.

As always, you are my favorite reactor, and this reaction did not disappoint! If you go back and watch Rick Astley's original video, you'll see that the HF guys are dressed in ALL three of Rick's outfits (including the hairstyle). Adam R. seems to be the blonde dude dancer in the white t-shirt. Tim seems to be a catch-all for the other backup dancers/models (including the women) and the bartender. As has been pointed out in other comments, Tim's dance moves (especially the worm) are freakin' HILARIOUS, but because the scenes change every second or two in the HF version, it's really easy to miss a lot of stuff. So after you're done with the Rick Astley version, I would recommend watching this at least once without closing your eyes or looking away for any lengthy period of time (yes, please blink 🙂) just so you can take in the absolute gloriousness of all the little details they are doing as an homage to the original video.
