Haha, the good old David Ghost Scam. I remember getting one of those a few years ago. Just ignore them and watch them get upset that you are not reacting. Thanks for the good video.
I've had one of these before, despite the fact that I keep the camera on my pc covered. The bit that might have fooled some people was that the email appeared to have been sent from my own account (it wasn't, but this is easy to do with the right software). Unfortunately, it will continue as long as it's legal for companies to sell your personal data. Make sure that everyone you know is aware of such scams, especially people who may not be so tech savvy (such as your parents).
You're lucky, Brian. I've had the same email account for 12 years, and I don't even get crappy spam mail like this, much less email from someone I know.
I had exactly the same, I knew it was fake because I had not been pleasuring myself in my bathroom as they had recorded it lol, I have a shower. I laughed & deleted it and blocked it.
Yea ive been hacked many times.. they even got pictures of me in situations that would make me embarrassed (even tho Ive never taken any pics of those myself) these people are crazy
One thing I have learned in my time on Earth, when someone says "You can trust me," it means you CAN'T. I don't need to worry about e-mail scams, I never log into my e-mail because all it is now is junk and scams. Probably 10's of THOUSANDS of messages sitting in it that I have and will never see.
I got the same email but they changed the 'reputation' with 'adult videos' and I didn't even know until he email'ed me. I was hacked for 6 months undercover.
Don't just delete it. Just right click on it and classify it as junk/phishing/spam. This is why you should turn off automatic download of pics. turn off the viewer. If in doubt send it to spam/junk so that it gets filtered in the future. Your email provider generally uses this information to target the domains where the spam originated from. Microsoft took down a lot of sites and did all the leg work. to bring down these scammers.
I sometimes do tech support for family and friends, they call me and ask if these types of e-mails are legit. A number if years ago my dad would get called on the phone, about "There is suspicious activity on your computer" or "This is Microsoft calling". My dad never had a computer. 🤣
I got an email like this on an seldom used email client, but they actually wrote my exact password. Lucky it was just online, and I no longer had much Data on that one. ...But as a precaution, I changed all and made much better passwords (20 characters) on all platforms. It was a blessing in disguise, a real eye opener.
Heaven forbid anyone should actually make an honest living anymore. People who engage in these types of email scams are what i call the bottom feeders of society and aren't doing anything productive with their lives.

Got a somewhat similar one just yesterday, been quite a while since the last time. Must admit I find it a bit funny to read, when applying logic and a bit of general computer know-how, it falls apart very quickly. However sad to see some people falling for it, once again proving that the most important part of computer security is the user... 6:00 A very important point, because if some had access to the mails on your device they would definitely know your name... BTW: The funniest part of the one I got was he/she spend several lines talking about being a professional. Well, just like a true king to need to say he is the king, a true professional don't need to say so...
It's funny they claim they got hold of all the personal information but couldn't help themselves into a money transfer with that information without the victim knowing.
I can see it is in your spam folder so it was a broad phishing "adventure" and a great teaching moment you can convey to youngsters (and older folks) who think they are invincible online...
When you get mail like this, do you report it to any spam prevention agencies at all or do you flag it as junk and/or delete it? Also, what email client were you using in the video? Thanks for posting!
I've had the same e-mail, the webcam reference let it down as I don't actually have a webcam and I don't have a reputation decent or otherwise, I found it rather funny.

Thanks Brian and yes mate I get some really obvious spam stuff in my emails and I think that the ESET Ultimate I have (on all of my machines) is particularly good at picking these ratbag wretches out. I also get a ton of spam phone calls everyday and it drives me nuts but again whether it is the ESET I have on my phone or the security that is setup by Google they all get flagged as spam and no matter how many I block (I have lost count of how many) I still get calls from numbers that are in one of the larger cities namely Sydney or Melbourne and I suspect that there is some scumbag group in those sites who do this for a living or fun - whatever. Sadly as someone else points out there are many folks particularly the elderly like myself who are not savvy enough to pick these scumbag emails out.
