  • (NOTE: Filmed in 2020) Located in Washington, DC, Little Wild Things Farm is inspiring the next generation of farmers to build a brighter and more sustainable agricultural future. They produce soil-grown microgreens, micro herbs, hydroponically grown salad greens, and edible flowers on a less than one-quarter acre farm in the heart of DC. Little Wild Things Farm is run by an all-woman team operating out of an old parking garage, which has been transformed into a thriving urban farm!
Despite nearly going under during Covid pandemic, Mary Ackley, the founder of Little Wild Things Farm, was able to pivot their entire business model to focus on direct-to-consumer sales that saved the farm. They are passionate about sustainability and making fresh, healthy produce available to their community.

This is so relatable for me as a civil engineering student who wants to start something like modern farm... I've been thinking about this for a very long time and seeing someone became successful in this field has made me extremely happy and confident.
Thank you for making videos about these startups, these are really inspirational 💯

🌱💚💚This is AWESOME To see! Her farm is beautiful & growing in such an amazing way!🌱🌱🌱💚💚
All our edible flowers are 100% indoor- I would LOVE To have outdoor space for tunnels at the micro farm! We use them at the homestead, but thats for our personal garden. :)

Awesome farm! Trying to start a micro green operation here in Nebraska! My son and I started building a shed for it, got all the lights and seed trays last weekend! Ended up getting drunk and my son kicked my ass......... Hopefully we can work on it next weekend!

After this was filmed we started a reusable container program which has been awesome! These are all compostable containers, though obviously those have limitations too.

In most cases, you can grow indoors with lights and have better yields than outdoors since you can control all the variables.

I was inspired by your work originally Curtis! This was mid-pandemic and masks were required by law in DC indoors at the time, and our customers expected it. I still have the spreadsheets I bought from you circa 2014!
