  • Join me as I talk about the features of the Juki DU1181N industrial sewing machine. This machine is a straight stitch-only machine that will sew through fabrics, interfacings, leather, and vinyl that most domestic machines struggle to sew through.
    This video is not sponsored. My thoughts are based on my personal experience with the Juki DU1181D.
    The blue vinyl bag is the Erica Bowler bag pattern by ororosapatterns.com/collectio....
    The large duffle bag is made with the By Annie Get out of Town Duffle 2.0 bag pattern. The small Open Wide bag is also made from a By Annie pattern.

    I purchased the additional feet at www.goldstartool.com/
    I purchased thread from several sources, including Amazon and Superior Threads.

    Thank you for this video! My Juki DU1181N just arrived last week and I am excited to get started. I can totally relate to the frustrations you've had with your domestic machine. I too have a Baby Lock embroidery machine and recently made my first handbag complete with the fancy hardware and foam layers. Just when I was finishing the last row of stitching at the top, my machine struggled to get through the layers and the stitches didn't turn out very nicely. That's when I decided I needed an industrial machine. I am encouraged by all of your positive comments and can't wait to get started on my Juki. Your work looks outstanding!

    I was fortunate to have an industrial sewing machine family-run business close to where I live. I purchased the 1181, they put it together and I have it perched by a window in my sewing room. LOVE it. It is a bit of a learning curve but worth it.

    After watching your video I finally pulled the trigger and called Steve and ordered this exact machine!! I've been on the fence but your review pushed me over the edge to purchase. You're right, Steve talked to me for quite a while and answered every question I had (he had the hiccups and was embarrassed lol) I did order the engraved plate with measurements, THAT to me speaks volumes about customer service!! I can't wait to get the videos and my machine and start sewing on it. Thanks for the great video!!

    Beautiful bags!!! I'm a quilter AND am considering buying this model for binding and perhaps straight line quilting. I understand from a couple of Steve's videos, it's possible with a couple adjustments.
    When you decide to try binding, I would LOVE to see it😊

    Your bags are gorgeous, and I hope you post some full audio/visual of entire process of making bags. I dislike videos posted by others where music is playing, no talking/explanation and they use finger pointing for illustrating sewing. I'm torn between the DU1181N and the DNU 1541S. Great information here, thanks for posting.

    Two notes: Left and right zipper feet are available for this machine, so you can get up close to corners, buckles, zippers etc. Also, on industrial machines, the feed dogs and needle plate are usually swapped out as a matching pair, as various different sizes and types of feed dogs are available and need to be matched to the needle plate (you can swap out one or the other individually too, but you need to match up the part numbers to make sure they're compatible with each other).
    I hope your machine has been treating you well since this video.

    I'm considering an industrial machine because I am concerned about ruining my domestic machine with materials that are too heavy. Multiple layers of quilting, denim and now I want to sew leather and canvas. I have Narrowed it down to the Consew 206RB5, Juki DNU1541 and I have now discovered the DU1181. The local sewing dealer mentioned I might look at that too. TFS

    I just found your site and am very impressed with your knowledge. I started to do quilting as a form of stress relief (I am a retired OR nurse). I have a Singer Quilt Confidence machine, and would like to take it to the next level. I've decided Juki is the brand that seems to get the most positive reviews. I looked at the TL2000Q, TL2010Q, DDL 8700 and am now looking at the DU1181N. Will this machine let me do free motion quilting? I do a lot of king-sized quilts and this looks like it has a decent amount of room. Also, can the needle be programmed to stop in the down position? Or will I need a stitch regulator to do that? I'm not too fussed that it doesn't cut the threads. I also like it comes with the table, because just getting a regular table adds quite a bit of expense. Sorry for all the questions, but I'd like to make my decision soon so I can get cracking on my Christmas present list! Thanks in advance!

    Hello! I would like to make soft leather bags, vinyl bags, and 100% Cotton Bowl/Ice Cream Cozies. Can this machine handle the bulk for top stitching on the bowl cozies? I have so many problems top stitching straight (Brother SE600 sewing machine) on the bowl cozies because of all of the bulk in the cozy (2 layers of fabric and 2 layers of Wrap N Zap batting). Also, do you have or could you make a quick video on sewing on this sewing machine please? Thank you.

    Congrats💕I have sawn this machine on Laura M.‘s channel and has fallen in love. But it’s almost impossible to get it in Germany. Wondering if there is another Juki with simulator features and can be bought here, but up to now I have no idea. Also the price is really niche. My domestic machine is a Bernina and was three times as expensive. Your explanation was very very interesting, wish you lots of fun with your Juki!

    • @cazkiwinz4300
      @cazkiwinz4300 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Juki are great, of course........ but I would recommend Zoje (ZJ0303). It is a lot cheaper than a Juki yet comes with better and newer technology and has all the features (like needle up/down, top (not side) inbuilt bobbin winder, LED head light, marked plate, direct drive servo motor, shuffle walking foot!) inbuilt for the price so you don’t need to pay extra for them like Juki owners have to. I just couldn’t imagine paying all that money for just a “Juki” brand label and not having the inbuilt stuff which should be basic inclusions! So yeah, “clones” have come a long way and are even better than Juki in many respects nowadays! I did my research (and could afford a Juki) but chose not to jump on this Juki 1181 bandwagon for the above reasons. I’ve had my Zoje for over 4 years and I love it! The Zoje 0303 is also more like a Juki 1541 as it’s a shuffle foot... this 1181 and the 8700 Juki’s which are popular too are just basically garment plainsewer machines (light/medium) and are only a single foot “kinda” walking foot... they’ve just been adopted by bagmakers who didn’t want to pay the price for a medium-heavy walking foot machine like the 1541 (because they’re expensive!)

    • @Teatime-mq6bv
      @Teatime-mq6bv 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@cazkiwinz4300 thanks a lot for your informative answer and explanation. I will check the Zoje ZJ0303. But industrial machines seem not to be very popular in Germany. Same problems with quilting: barely impossible to find a langarm or a semi-longarm here. And of course other brands are popular in Europe…, but I I’ll check the Zoje…, although I must be honest that I am spoiled by all the TH-camrs using Juki machines. Whereby spoiled is the wrong expression, must say I am blended or blind for anything else. Thanks for opening my eyes ;) try to keep you informed! Thanks again💕

    • @Teatime-mq6bv
      @Teatime-mq6bv 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@cazkiwinz4300 hello again. Well, it seems as Zoje is a polish brand. You can only get it from there with about 300 euro shipping costs…., so there really is no difference in price here. Both are about euro 1600,- which is - as far as I see - the same price as a Juki in the USA (At least that is the price the Juki is sold on Amazon and you said the Zoje should be cheaper). There is a 0303 for a bit less, it’s called d3 instead d4, but this one does not have all the features you wrote about. Well, I will keep my eyes open… , but the Zoje really looks great…
