    Nice collection of Ontario SP's. I need to pick up a few more in that line.

      They're crazy value! I'm going to keep an eye on the bay for older models. The way they're made in America and made out of nice 1075 carbon steel just blows my mind.

    Folks can carry firearms here in FL any which way. So I carry autos, to fixed blades any which way.

    Dude, you should flip those guard retention straps so they go around the other side of the handle. That way you’re not taking the risk of cutting the strap.

    These are good quality pratical tactical knives. The length depends on how comfortable the person using the knife is and his preferences based on his experience. Sp 1 would be excellent all round knife in this collection. Good Presentation ☝️😎

      The sp6 is a great piece of cutlery! It's a bummer OKC was bought out, but I'm hopeful (probably foolishly so) that the new owners will revitalize the brand!

    What I like about this series of knives is that it revealed to me how many TH-cam assclown warriors don't have basic sharpening skills and have never heard of a file. They talk so much shit about Spec Plus because they don't perform well out of the box, meanwhile when I was 18 and got my first one, I looked at the edge and just thought "oh, you have to put your own edge on it like a hatchet". It just struck me as a smart cost cutting measure, given that I reprofile all my knives anyway. In the years since then I have yet to find better hard use survival and combat knives at any price point, with very few exceptions. The Marine Raider in particular is simply the best Bowie knife you can buy, full stop.

      All of my ontario SPs have come super sharp. Maybe there was a bit where QC wasn't great, but who knows.

    • @TheMartialist
      @TheMartialist  ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree with you that far too many people seem to lack some of the basic skills you think they'd seek out and learn on their own.

      @@TheMartialist If you think the SP series comes with good factory edges, then your standards are pretty low, no offense intended. I've been using Spec Plus knives since probably 2005 or so and have had at least a dozen of them. They ALWAYS come with a crude 25-30 degree grind like a hatchet from a hardware store, which I consider basically useless. They require a total reprofile out of the box in all cases, nothing less than a doublecut file is needed to do the job, preferably with the knife clamped to a stable workbench or a cinder block (though I'm capable of doing the job "cowboy style" if needed). Once properly sharpened though, they are excellent, Ontario consistently puts out the best carbon steel and heat treatments I've ever seen. They can easily handle an 18 degree convex edge without chipping even against hard knots. Very few people are going to get the most performance out of them though, you really need to get some cheap machetes and files and practice bevel creation, you cannot sharpen these knives with a stone out of the box and get good results.

    What Israeli special forces you trained with?

    • @TheMartialist
      @TheMartialist  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I forget now, if I ever knew. I was still a boot then. I trained at the base that was by Hebron, which I don’t think exists anymore. The guys I trained with from the IDF would run ops when they weren’t schooling us. I remember some of their names, but I won’t post them here.

    Marine raider bowie where do i begin Ontario sharpen your blades properly with the proper bevels and angles

  • @WilliamsKnifeLife
    @WilliamsKnifeLife ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I've seen that bowie knife handle roll, and it's fine if you know what you are doing, but learning that with a big sharp blade, well all I can say is learn to do things with your non dominant hand.✋️ You're going to get a hell of a cut, possibly tendons & won't be impressing the babes with your slick moves anymore. It's like when Hollywood thought it was cool to slam a revolver cylinder closed with a wrist flick. Yeah, it looks cool; however, you will bend the cylinder crane & your revolver won't revolve anymore after a while.

  • @anthonyvasquez7278

    I will disagree with your swinging the Bowie like a escrima stick. If the person swinging the knife actually is a student of escrima then he or she knows how to wield a knife. Escrima is 1st and foremost a blade art. Stick movement and angles are the same as the knife angles and movements
