Priceless Intro! Two guys carrying their knives while the gal is following up by dragging the canoe and wearing the big backpack! 😆
Gender equality in all its glory.)
Boy, where are those gentlemen... :)
Personally I'd go for the uncoated sabre grind version! Not as slicey but better for splitting.
LMFAO… I lost it when buddy put that lime wedge in the beer 😂
The lady is awesome. Glad you added her!
Definitely worth eleven minutes of my time. 👍🏼👍🏼
Right on. Thanks for watching.
I would even go so far as to give these guys 11 mins 14 seconds…..maybe 15!
Use condor duku parang
Just got one in Lidl for 8 euro and it's as good as any of these, lovely wooden nicely finished handle with a good plastic holster.
@@nothingbutknives2286qazz😅 so
I love knives, but let’s face it, I watch because of your ladies. Quality.
Love your vids! Great mix of information, humor, and your ladies are always easy on the eyes.....grin. I have a few knives from ESEE, Becker, Off Grid, OKC, and a few others. I have a BK2 and BK9 that I use a lot, been wanting a BK7 too. Anyhoo, excellent video, thanks for sharing!
Sounds like a great collection. Thanks for watching.
awesome video, love your enthusiasm.
Fantastic content way2go! Looking forward to seeing all your videos in the future!
Thanks Rusty.
I still like my Ontario Blackbird. Small enough to perform bushcraft tasks and high quality materials.
Definitely a solid knife.
What a refreshing straight forward no BS review I'm now a fan and subscribed
Thanks for watching and subscribing.
Awesome! Love the subtle humor.
Thanks for watching.
Brilliant, so bloody funny and yet utterly uniformative. Best knife vids on the Toob
Thanks Stuart. That’s pretty much the goal.
Great video! I ended up picking up an Off-Grid Backcountry V2 and I'm very pleased with it.
Right on! That is one we carry on a regular basis.
Love it mate.!!
Thanks for watching.
"Who's gonna carry the Boats?!" Well, you answered that David Goggins question! 👊
It's funny my three Survival Knives i carry are not being maid now one is the Schrade SHCF56LM i carry it for just for walking around two for Hiker in the woods .SOG North west Ranger 2.0 , three for Back Packing a SOG Force with a Light My Fire knives , oh and i have one of three Swiss Army Knives in my Pocket at all times a Army Walkers or a Tinker or a Army Camper .. now i some times carry my Cold Steel Pendleton as a small but very good knives , it's good to have one more knives you don't need or uses when not have a knives ,
Pretty cool set up. That Cold Steel Pendleton was pretty unique even for Cold Steel stuff.
I have a ka-bar bk4 and love it for chopping wood/ camping. Also, a good defense weapon
Great video, witty and informative. Thanks.
Thanks for watching.
Excellent video/reviews!
Thank you.
Great vid!
I love this video, it has a little bit of everything
Thanks. Appreciate it.
Brilliant stuff. I'm partial to Cudeman knives myself. Oh, and your leadership skills in designating who carries what was on point.
Leadership is when you pick up a beer and just wing it, right?
Leadership 🤣🤣
Great review! You've got a new subscriber.
Thanks Douglas
I like these choices...you guys have good taste.
Well done, team. Excellent video
Thanks bcvpiper.
The ideal survival knife is light and with a fine edge sharp enough to shave a baby rabbit, without disturbing it from a light sleep, while having a grind and heft appropriate for felling a mature live oak. Blade length would fall between 2 and 12 inches.
Just picked up a Reiff. Very pleased!
Right on!
The Demko and Reiff were my faves. Thanks for the video!
They've been our two favorites to take out lately too.
OK, I admit- I was first drawn in by that phenomenally beautiful young lady!!!! Then the combination of the tongue in cheek narrative, the great video, down home soundtrack occasionally morphing into jazz fusion meets The Doors, the actually good reviews of the blades, and oh, yes, the regular appearances of the beautiful lady throughout, all drove me to the website and to subscribing to your newsletter. Wonder if you will review that new knife by Swisstech, the fixed blade that Wal Mart is selling for about 40 bucks?
Thanks for watching, and no, we haven't looked at Swisstech much at all.
Not surprised Demko produced the Freereign. Working with Coldsteel, he’d probably been eyeing the SRK for a while, thinking, “I could do that better”.
Just discovered your channel, liked & subscribed. Looking forward to your next one. Thanks
Ah crap. We should start making another video.
Thanks for watching.
Brilliant video guys❤
Thanks for watching.
Great video , thanks yall ! Got a sub
Thanks Mike.
Great video! Surprised Esse 5 was not included!
Thanks for watching. We are working on a separate video for larger survival knives. The Esee 5 will be in that one.
Good review I enjoyed it you guys picked some good ones, would’ve liked to hear some prices for them.
Thanks for watching. Yea prices would have been helpful.
great video!
Thanks for watching.
Interesting knife review. 👌
Love the video guy’s ✌️

Educational and entertaining. Legit.

New sub, props for the beer save at the end lol
Thanks for watching and subbing. Beer will be a reoccurring theme.
@@nothingbutknives2286 I figured lol, and it was confirmed after going through all your vids 👍
I like your video. I dont have an extensive collection as you do but have the Cold Steel SRK in the original Carbon V. Also Ek bowie & Blackjack as well as some lesser known. Enjoyed your testing & humor ! Would be in the market for another user, thinking about something from Tops.
Sounds like you have a good collection going.
Awesome shoot. I'm testing out my new Boker Bronco this weekend.
That is definitely a cool knife.
New viewer, loving it! And I have the demko as well and love it.
Glad to have you around. We saw your Blade Show haul, and now we're wondering why the hell we didn't think to have the Demkos sign our FreeReign.
@nothingbutknives2286 next year I guess! How good would you say is the Aus10 version?
@@maxlvledc Honestly, the out-of-box performance was probably similar. We actually gave our AUS10 version to a friend a while back or we'd have done a side by side. That thing was wicked sharp, though.
My first knife was the BK7 (which I love for "beating the hell out of things" tasks). I combined it with the Becker Eskabar for more "up close and personal" tasks (I also ended up with a Becker Remora, just because). My latest may be the best all around for my hands (medium cadet golf glove = shorter and fat fingers), which is the Full Size Black KA-BAR, Straight Edge = blade is not as wide as the BK7, which helps with finer applications, but still has the length of the BK7 for 'pounding' applications.
Sounds like a nice collection of Ka-Bars.
Pssst. There are many more - and better - knives not named Ka-Bar. Do yourself a favor and broaden your horizons a little.
As much as I like BK 7 and Ka-Bar Mark 1, I'm spoiled with knives like TRC Mille Cuori,so I can't go back to the budget line. That being said, the Mark 1 and the Mora Bushcraft Black, will always be on my favorite belt knife list.
"Up close and personal". You're not that guy.
Good, thx
The Reiff Knife both the F4 and the F6 are awesome! I love the SRK in 3v as well, and that Demko in Magnacut looks badass too! Thx for the video!
Thanks for watching. Its pretty cool hear from other Reiff fans. That company has done a lot in a short period of time.
It's a little overhyped. It doesn't have jimping, which is desirable to filipino holders and martial artists. It looks nice enough and has two sheath options. However for $350 it's overpriced.
You can get a bradford guardian 4.5 in magnacut for around $80 less
@@steveurkel1487 If you're talking about the Reiff F4 or the F6, you're are forgetting about their kickass warranty. They will replace a knife even if someone steals it out of your car. Most companies wouldn't touch that situation with a yardstick. Also, their 3V has an excellent heat treat. You could literally field strip a Buick with one of those with minimum damage to the edge.
@@nothingbutknives2286 how do you like the riff knife I haven’t decided if I’m ready to pull the trigger on one don’t know how good they’re steel actually is
Damn good video!
Thanks for watching.
I have several "survival " knives. Several over $100. But one of the best that I actually wear each day, and use while working with roofing materials, is the milwaukee duct knife. It's under $20, and can give a nice close shave right out of the package. Can't really baton with it, but I use the serrated side much more than I'll ever baton. Full tang, well balanced, and since it has a red handle with the word milwaukee on it, I have never been harassed for wearing it into a bar, restaurant, store, etc. It is classified as a "tool", but God help anyone that tries to hold me up without a gun.
That knife sounds like it deserves a standalone video.
@nothingbutknives2286 just search for it on TH-cam. There's about 20 videos that compare the milwaukee duct knife to other knives. And several stand alone. This knife is under $20 at alot of hardware stores, and I haven't found anything it can't handle.
You guys are creating art, here. Your video is absolutely fun to watch, and still informative. I loved the narrator mentioning food preparation while a slice of lime was pushed into a beer bottle 😂 Well, beer is food indeed.
Ha ha. thanks for watching. And yea...beer is food.
I hate to see Ontario knives going out of business in the U.S. Another great company and quite a few jobs being lost . Thanks Ray very interesting
Yea that closing is a bummer.
This was amazing to watch.🙂🙂
We appreciate it. Thanks for watching.
I’m here for that dime piece. Knives second. Great vidja
Very entertaining presentation.
Thanks for watching
This is very interesting. I have been using Casstrom, No 10. This will handle most bushcraft scenarios. Also Fallkinven A1, I am looking at F1x Elmax...
All good knives. The F1X Elmax is really interesting but also really pricey.
A great lineup with plenty of good options. How does the grip size of the Demko compare to the SRK? I've always loved the simplicity of the SRK shapes, but I find the grip a little small front to back.
The FreeReign feels a little bigger than the SRK. Overall the grip feels a lot more solid to us. But if the SRK handle feels a little small to you, the FreeReign probably won't feel a whole lot better. You might want to check out some Work Tuff or Condor stuff, though. Julio Diez designs some pretty good larger handles.
@@nothingbutknives2286 That's awesome, thanks for the analysis and recommendations!
Just picked up the Gerber "Strongarm" ...not too shabby. 🙂 Like the video.
The Strongarm definitely gets the job done too. That thing is a mean chopper.
I prefer the Prodigy with a plain edge, I have 2 or 3 of them. Very similar knives and I like having the 420 high carbon because you can re-sharpen it easily.
There is usually only 3 things that interest me and thats guns, knifes and pretty country ladies. Two out of three ain't bad and earned a thumbs up and a subscriber. Great video thanks !!!
Thanks for watching. Guns will be featured eventually.
Some nice knives, some of which I own. I own Camillus BK 7/9 and Carbon V SRK/Master Hunter. Had a Recon Scout but never likes the coffin handle and the blade is thicker than I like.
Your Cold Steel line up sounds pretty sweet.
0:48 LOL!😂
good job
Great vid y’all! Homegirls super cute 🥰
Thanks for watching.
SUBSCRIBED!!! No way I could've finished watching this video, without "subscribing"!!!
Thanks Jorge. Appreciate it.
Any bushcraft knife I’ll spend money on has gotta double as tactical in a pinch. What if a mountain lion jumps on me and I get one move? I want something long and pokey. That style exists, I’ve found it with TOPS gritty ceracoated blades. They make quite a few worthy of camp/Tac in one blade.
For a cheapo, I mean Morakniv is popular but $40 with them goes a long way.
Dude, I love your cool, no nonesense, no BS style.... respect
Thanks for watching, but your bar for what counts as nonsense must be very high.
Loved the in-your-face style and subtle humour!
Your choice of the SRK is a good one, in my opinion. It is for me the benchmark for the belt knife I would want with me, for many of the tasks that needed doing, but not all.
For the heavier tasks, I'd always have my trusty CS Trail Master San Mai III! It is so well-balanced and sturdy enough for a great chopper, splitter and hacker, yet weighs in at just over a pound! As for sharpening, well that won't be an issue for many a camping trip. Then a sharpening session with the right tools and skill and it's back for many more trips! Sharpening in the field does not even enter the picture!
At the other end of the scale, I'd NEVER be without a Victorinox SAK - selection to depend on expected needs, but I'd like one with a saw, as a back-up. [I'd never venture out without a Silky saw (Gomboy, or Bigboy, depending] . If I was expecting to do wire work for traps etc that needed a pliers, I'd be tempted to swop out the SAK for a Leatherman. However, the Leatherman tools are mostly inferior to the Victorinox equivalents.
As you can see, I do not subscribe to the one-knife-fits-all school. If one has that one knife, my question is, why not the other two (or more) as well? For example the SRK (as great as it is) is not a great chopper/splitter/hacker, no matter how you cut it. So use the TM! Fine work is not easy with either, so use the SAK! If you insist on carving a spoon, use a Scandi grind knife. And so on!
I'd be interested in comments.
Cheers!
Sounds like you have a great system in place for ensuring you have all your bases covered outdoors. We have kinda slacked on the multitool side of thing at Nothing But Knives, but we plan to rectify that moving forward.
@@nothingbutknives2286 I've viewed and read quite a bit of Felix Immler's work with SAKs - btw he works for Victorinox! What he can do with an SAK is nothing short of astounding. I prefer to do such work with more suitable tools. I look forward to what you'll be doing. Thanks for the reply. Much appreciated!
I have a SRK in San mai lll . I also think it is the bench mark from which I grade all other knives. A close second is my Gerber strong arm . It has all the feel of the SRK in a smaller package. And just as durable .
@@turtlepurple9304 I'm leaning strongly towards the SRK in 3v!
Although it's more of a bushcraft knife than it is a survival, I'll stick with my BPS ADVENTURER. Great fixed blade knife at an even better price. Got mine about 4 yrs ago for $40. Prefer it over my MARINE CORP issue Ka-Bar..... Great video
Yeah, the grind makes a little more bushcraft, but it's hard to beat something like that Adventurer knife for toughness.
Cool video awesome channel
👍 Thanks, man.
Well done! When I saw the Reef, I immediately thought of the F1.
Yeah, kinda like the F1 with a fatter handle.
" What the hell happened to your sleeves ? " BEEN THERE, DONE THAT 🤣🤣SUBBED 👍
🤣🤣 Thanks Allan.
Cracking little video! What I like about this vid is that it nails the key issue at the outset "what do we mean by survival?". This is the question at the core of any preparation strategy. What is the survival scenario? earthquake? lost at sea? flood evacuation? industrial accident evacuation? This dictates the tool set. For myself, I plan for the latter two mostly. Evacuation of some sort. For this I will grab a pocket folder of some description. Say, a large Victorinox of some sort or even a leatherman multi tool. In my view keep the scenario realistic. An invasion alien zombie's from the planet zarg is not very likely.
Thanks for watching and commenting, Mike. You bring up some great points. Evry person in this video has been evacuated three or more times in the last few years due to fire and flood, so our bug out bags have evolved based on some real world experience.
Very nice! And the knives too! No Lionsteel? Just wondering….
We talk about the LionSteel T5 in the article. It just wasn't in our direct line of sight when we left to shoot this video. We're also big fans of the M2M.
I think I found my favorite knife review channel.
Happy to have you aboard.
0:57 The guy in the middle has the right idea. Let the 'kids' carry the stuff.
I was hoping you would try an test the buck mdl 124, damn good knife an tough.
The 124 is awesome. We went back and forth about putting a Buck knife on the list. We probably should have, but it turns out it's really hard to refine all the choices down to 5.
I have a Tops Operator 7 Black Out to carry on backwoods adventures. I like this type of video. Pretty knives and sharp ladies!! ;)
The Operator is a great knife for sure. Thanks for watching.
Just subscribed - thanks to the young woman. I like my knives but she added to your video - especially when Mr. Coveralls got the boot into the drink! Cute way to present the information and make it all entertaining. Thanks.
Thanks for watching and subscribing. Based on the current office politics here, that will not be the last time coveralls guys is on the receiving end of mild violence.
Love the little woman carrying the canoe. Great review and awesome sense of humor.
Thanks for watching.
the lady is a show stopper.
That's why she is there.....for the clicks
Certainly one of the more relaxed video's I have seen . Three of the blades I had not heard of so this was especially pleasing for me as I like a good knife but just can't afford some of the ridiculous prices demanded for supposed "high end blades" . I have a few Becker and Ka-Bar blades ,BK 9 ,7 ,2 and 5 and can't say I have anything to complain about they do exactly what I want when I need them and I am glad you like them too . The SRK by Cold Steel is another great blade ,but then I do love Cold Steel too and have done for years .Glad I found you I will be taking a look at more of your work and hopefully get even more of an education .Thanks for your efforts on our behalf .
Thanks for watching, Richard. It sounds like you have a pretty good collection of Ka-Bars going.
Thanks for the video. There’s honestly to many knives out there that could fall in this category.
This is true, and it is a good problem to have.
Best knife video I’ve seen.
Thanks.
I own CS SRK carbon V and it is awesome!
That's a cool one for sure.
Hi. Got CS SRK and CS SRK compact… both of those knives are very good if you mean quality to price… am using them in camping and for light bushcraft and do the job perfectly…strongly recommend them. Thanks for this vid👍🏻👍🏻. Regards.S.
Great knives for sure. Thanks for watching.
Axe is the combination you can cut wood, meat, one piece work all .
Your videos are the best, continue like this..
2 suggestions:
- next time, while the lady is carrying the kayak, you guys should try to sit in it, because it is really not fair for you to carry everything while she is just carrying this kayak 😅.
- in terms of blades, as you are on a budget, I would suggest you to try and get a Brisa Camper 125 Kit, that you need to assemble yourself, it's half the price of the built knife and you get a fantastic Scandinavian stainless blade for a very reasonable price, the mora Garberg is also a very good option.
Ha ha. All great suggestions. The Brisa looks promising and the Garburg will be in our bushcraft video. Thanks for watching.
I've got a BK7. I'm glad that I have it, but it's disappointing as a chopper. I should've known better. The 7" is too big for most tasks and too small for chopping. It's a compromise; a good one. I reshaped the handle a bit to rough up the slick surface and fit my grip better. I like that handle. BK9 would've probably been a better one-tool solution....but I don't really believe in a one-tool solution, any more. I wouldn't want a BK2 or an Esee 5. They're too heavy for the length. Start with a 4-5" knife, then add another tool or two.
If the one tool solution exists, we havent found it. Everyone's needs seem to be a little different.
I liked the look of that Reiff knife, when you described how it felt in the hand I decided, yea I like that… I might just get that knife… I was actually motivated enough to look it up on Amazon; but then I saw that it’s half a mortgage payment in cost…
Reiff knives are not cheap by any stretch, but we like them so much we had to include one.
Lionsteel T6, the top!!
At the intro what is the knife in her left hand with the cross knives presentation? Good content. zane
That is the Falkniven F1. Thanks for watching.
@@nothingbutknives2286 Let me try again. At 1:39 in the lady is holding two knives. One appears to be a BK7. What is the other? tnx, zane
@@zanedclark Ah, that's an old Ka Bar BK5. Pretty sure they're discontinued now, but it was our best option at hand for getting a little bit of symmetry in the shot.
😂 This guy is a legitimate outdoorsman. “What happened to your sleeve?”, improvise, adapt and overcome.
🤣🤣🤣
Lime in a beer? Nice. Great video.
Thanks for watching.
Great video! One word, though... SYKCO.
That looks promising.
I want to make a Kukri knife. You can use it as an mini ax as well. It is quite big.
Nice vid...However, I will stick to my Lionsteel T5 alongside my BK-9.
LionSteel makes a damn good knife. We actually include the T5 in the Survival Knives article. We love that thing.
love mine and I`m in England...the country that hates knives.
Great vid. If I could only have one knife for true survival/breakdown of society etc. it would be the BK9. All day. Close second is the ESEE 6. But BK 9 is my ultimate.
Yea the BK9 is a great apocalypse knife. It is also pretty handy survival and camping tasks for anyone who doesn't mind the size.
two to four days Essee 4 forever mode Becker BK2 it's not great for camp tasks but it is there forever I hope i have another knife for everyday tasks
