Tip: For large areas (where a big splinter of wood is missing), forget the melting tool. Select the right color. Use a small sharp knife to hold the bar of wax and use a BBQ grill lighter to melt the wax into the repair area, then continue to use the lighter on the wax to keep it flowing and let it spread evenly into all the tiny crevices into the repair area. Then let it cool off for five minutes and then use the plastic sanding tool to lightly sand the area down (use long back and forth strokes not only on the wax but over the wood for uniformity). Don't press too hard down on the plastic sanding tool. Light back and forth strokes are enough. Finally, use a very fine permanent pen to add a few 'wood' lines. It will look great when you are done.

Thanks for the advice, but your method cannot be used. Open fire (lighter) can not be used for melting wax, because the wax burns out, can change color and its mechanical properties. It is necessary to melt wax at temperature (t 70-90C). If you use an open fire on light waxes, it will turn black. Using a lighter can damage the surface you are restoring.

I am just a little cautious with this because of the colors! I have purchased the medium set but none of the colors is "close" to my flooring (actually the scraping tool on the medium set is the perfect color haha, can I melt that?). Have you tried to mix colors? What would you suggest?

Yes, waxes need to be mixed with a soldering iron to obtain different shades.

I did a repair on a Matt finished floor and the wax leaves a sheen where I did the repair how do I get rid of that sheen where the wax repair is do I just dab it with a little bit of matte finish on top of the wax?

You need to smear the wax with matte fiber, or cover this area with clear matte varnish
