I would love to see Jason turn a box similar to the one in Woodturning issues 242 and 243. (I am thoroughly enjoying this demo. In fact I have become a fanatical follower of the turning parts of Woodturning Wisdom. This is one of the great blessings of the Pandemic.)
All looks really amazing and I would love to get into some lathe work because I haven't done any since I was a trainee over 40 years ago (and then, it was only rudimentary lathe work). BUT...how many thousands of £'s will it cost for the equipment you have there to produce items valued at a few quid? Don't get me wrong, I am a fan of most of what you do there but I also frequently ask myself 'is the investment worth it?'. I know your aim is to sell products but who is it aimed at? Seems to me that it is aimed at those affluent few who can afford it. I prefer projects that can be done by anyone, at home, on even the lowest of incomes. I am a carpenter/joiner/upholsterer (yes, I have more than one trade under my belt) who likes to do stuff at home in my spare time; my daily trade is now carpentry but I do hand tool only joinery at home, as a hobby. I rarely delve into upholstery any more, though I would love to dive into lathe work - but the cost...!
Hi Pete, thanks for watching! I think it's the same for any hobby. No matter what you enjoy doing in your spare time, there is usually a cost involved.
Hi Kevin. Correct, Chestnut state that their Lemon Oil has not been tested as food safe. If you know your finished item is to be used for food, and if in doubt in anyway, then the safe option would be to use a food safe oil such as this one from Chestnut bit.ly/3kq7W0s
Hi Graham, not at all! We hope that we have videos to interest all types of woodworker, as well as informative videos on the tools we sell. If you have any ideas for videos you might like to see, please send them to woodworkingwisdom@axminstertools.com

Excent demo fella. One thing though on the Axminster website in Q&A it says the Lemon oil is not food safe? Was just about to buy some 😬

fantastic demonstration. all you need now is a tiny bowl for soy sauce and it can double as a sushi set as well
Great idea!
