  • *UPDATE 1/6/24: In full disclosure, I filmed this video a couple of week ago and since then we've seen some interesting developments: 1. Hermes' new prices are now in effect for 2024, which means my prices here are now outdated (but on average, add about 10% and that'll get you in the new ballpark). 2. I didn't realize this has been a trending topic, and that talk of the "Hermes journey" has grown even more polarizing than before lol! There are those that are adamant about calling this (or NOT calling this) a "journey" - let me know what you think in the comments. I mention this because I do teach in my business classes a concept called "customer/user journey mapping" and so from the business side, this is justification and precedence for calling this a journey lol...

Yes for sure because the sites all show how the values have gone up and then when you try to consign your lowball and given half of what it’s worth and it’s becoming ridiculous because we know there’s a surplus of luxury right now. it’s absolutely an unfair tilted ridiculous game. I’m kinda still in love with a lot of luxury, but I’m also going back to my old favorites such as Tory Burch with Good colors and I know it works for my lifestyle.

I recently bought a Fendi Peekaboo and it 100% curbed any urge I had to buy a Kelly. It’s just as beautiful (in my opinion), cheaper, easier to obtain and far more user friendly. I have another on my wish list for this year. Sadly I still want a Birkin 30 at some point, but I don’t have the energy for that game just yet.

    • @abriefcaseofluxury
      @abriefcaseofluxury  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

There are sooo many good deals on the Peekaboo preloved too! I've also noticed a drop in prices for the Birkin 30 preloved so that's always an option, unless its the in-store, fresh out of the box experience you're after!

This is fabulous I’d never considered totaling up all of the items I’ve considered buying just to be offered a bag. My husband is thrilled I’ve come across your page. Thanks for going against the grain and speaking on the impracticality of some of these items. I will admit I’m really sad to hear about the passport not fitting with the extra pages.

Our houses are not the museums but Hermes’ boutiques are the ones that that are more like museums….so many of their purses are on display only and not for sale. When I came in the store in Vancouver,Canada this week ( where the ratio for a quota bag is 4/5 to 1) many of the SA is standing around not greeting the many customers who wish for their help. I usually have a pre-spending budget when I come in and would only spend if some SA approach/greet me. ..and some do on some days.If they don’t ,like this week, I went to the Tiffany next door and got great treatment instead. B and K I am in no hurry to get them and am open minded to get it consigned in Tokyo.

I drove 2 hours today to the Hermes store I shop at (my appointment was scheduled 3 days ago 😂) and the SA I work with no-showed and gave me no notice. 2nd cancelled appointment in a row. This journey has been confusing to say the least! I did get 2 non quota bags in the past 4 months, so that was fabulous. I’m not sure what to do moving forward 🤪

@@abriefcaseofluxuryturns out my SA was sick! I do hope this is an outlier event. I’ve had really disappointing experiences at LV and Chanel, so I want to shop at stores I know I can get my things repaired (even at a cost).

I paid 34k for a madame crocodile touch Kelly for my wife last month in black with gold hardware because I knew the prespend to get that bag was going to be significantly more than the amount we paid over, and the likelihood we would have been offered a touch bag is low. She wants a gold gold Kelly 25 which I will do the same on just to save myself some time, effort and honesty money. My biggest problem with the “prespend” is you don’t have an amount, you’re just guessing how much is enough. Preloved have the prespend built in, so I used to see them as being expensive till I truly understood prespend. We are doing the game for one more Birkin at a boutique and after that, I’m done with the boutique.

Ok, different brand, apparently I'm a Coach girl, but I never really cared for the shoes, apparel, jewelry, etc, just the purses, wallets, wristlets, and the exception is the keychains/charms. I was the same way when I built my Fiesta collection, I'd love to add another color but I'm going to stick with what I have so if I get anything now it will just be if I have to replace any current piece that gets broken. Like with anything else, you have to set your limits then try really hard to stick to them :)

Interesting. I really recommend Bliss Fosters latest vid on hermés.
    For us who care😃👍
    Cut to the core.
Hermés is so over the reseller hell. They change now just to let no master manipulators grab every bag they can so "normal" people never get some.
I have the birkins in size an colors that suits me and few enough to get to actually use them. They are meant to be used ;newsflash!
I will not ask for more bags because I have enough plus I want others to experience the total superior quality and design that goes into these bags.
Yes. Thinking of others. I said it.

Fair points, but probably you already had both non and quota bags, i think when u had those bag, that is the end of the "journey" and it is a decision whether to stay on the " desire train" or board off. But for us who has not have the bags yet, it is still a journey we are involuntarily or secretly still aim for, no matter how crazy the price has been compare to lets say a decade ago. So yeah...i still want an H bag, even though i tried and bought other brands to curb the "thirst" :))

NOT gonna try, NOT gonna play their games....If they don't want to sell to a person who has the cash and won't hire enough people to boost up availability, to hell with them. There are plenty of very attractive, & well made great leather handbags being sold by companies happy to get your business....These are the people I enjoy helping be productive and successful.

Happy for you to have realised that the Hermes game is not worth it. The game is a way to get ppl to spend more just to get the 'a' bag....B or K. There are many other brand bags with better craftmanship and better quality. If you do not carry a B or K does not mean you are not in the rich elite group. I see many ppl carry Hermes B or K nothing exclusive abt it cos you can always get it prelove.

Is this how brands behave in USA or it is worldwide? I live in Europe and never had impression that I have to reach a certain level to be offered a bag I want. I contact their sales representatives, who I consider personal buyers, I tell them my wishes and they usually come with more to offer than I was asking for. I do not own any jewelry from Hermes. It would never suit my style.

Hermes birkin and Kellys are overrated. The quality isn’t as good as people think they are imo. The entire game is extremely toxic and those who game the system will always take priority over regular clients. The bags are also everywhere on social media and they’re not quite luxury anymore and really not that special anymore because so many people have them.

I completely agree. Hermes is getting tired and the bubble is going to burst. Chanel's bubble is already bursting and now it'll be Hermes. I'm looking at other brands like Joseph Duclos and Moynat, which have same or better quality at half the price with no hype or "game." They are the real luxury brands, not Hermes.
