So true. I knew Mayo wasn’t the first one season and done after winning the last game of the season, I just forgot it was Lovie Smith. So sad they end the year on a high note for the players but not the HC.
They only gave him 1 year with a rebuilding team plus the Patriots weren't even that bad this year tbh compared to the expectations at the start of the season and loss a lot of close games to decent teams like the Colts and Seahawks. ok but that was with 2 different teams. for NE standpoint they had the same record with 2 different coaches. he needed to have an improved record to stay and he didn't. technically he had a worse record since the bills sat all starters and weren't trying to win because they didn't need to. so in actuality the record was more like 3-14.
Bellichick also took the Browns to the playoffs during his time in Cleveland. He was established as a good coach before going to the Patriots. This doesn't really prove anything when it comes to race because if it was a race thing they would not have hired him to begin with. We have seen white coaches fired after 1 year as well. Freddie Kitchens won 7 games and only got 1 year as well.
I thought he would be given one more year at least because this man had nothing to work with!! No line no receivers and no supporting coaching staff. Mayo should have 1 more year at least
Jerod Mayo literally played Joe Milton and multiple backups after the Patriots first few plays. Jerod Mayo didn't botch the first overall pick by playing his best players; Joe Milton just outplayed both the Bills practice squad players and Mitch Trubisky.
Pete Carroll was fired after one 6-10 season coaching the Jets; he is now a guaranteed hall of fame coach. Jerod Mayo is only thirty-eight, he has another fifty years to be a coach in the NFL.
Mayo being one and done is sweet indeed. I've felt this 1 coming since his introductory presser. Hard to see a man so lacking in self awareness & maturity of decorum being a true leader of men the way 1 need be being the following act to Bill fn Belecheck. Feels good to see his hubris rewarded👌🏿😂👍🏿
Something needs to be done about the blatant discrimination against African-American head coaches in the NFL. They shouldn’t be allowed to be fired after one season.
He was Belichick's successor, so that meant very big shoes to fill, so it had nothing to do with skin colour and if it did he would have never been hired in the first place.
Considering this outcome he was right. No coach on the planet would have made over .500 with this roster But they still would have had at least one more season
3 of the last 4 coaches fired after 1 season were white. 2025: Jerod Mayo (New England Patriots ) 2023: Frank Reich (Carolina Panthers) 2022: Nathaniel Hackett (Denver Broncos) 2021: Urban Meyer (Jacksonville Jaguars)
@@boivox2021 that was the straw that broke the camel back. He had already loss the locker room. The other 2 white coaches didn’t have any off the field issues. My point being, him being fired after one year has nothing to do with this race.
3:48 Herm that is the whole crux of this debate! Take Lamar off his roster and the Ravens are a playoff team. Take Josh Allen off the roster and they aren't competing for the number one pick! That's why Allen is going to win MVP. Because Allen is more valuable to his team than Lamar is to his team!
In regards to Mayo the reality is that he had a clause in his contract that forced them to make him head coach... That was the price for previous contracts and relationships. Now, with a proven head coach available who uplifted a mediocre franchise, they are moving on. It makes perfect sense.
Mayo had no chance to begin with, then before the last game is played , Pats decide to start interviewing HC prospectives. What did Mayo/Van Pelt have to lose?
I can’t disagree with the decision, because I cannot stand coaches who punt on 4th & 1, especially when they are in a “must score” situation. Mayo is way too conservative.
It's not racism guys! I've been a pats fan for 20 years! They had no choice but to make Mayo the HC due to BB leaving. A guy that already knows the system and team that can attempt to fill big shoes! The seeds of his firing began with his very first press conference. Forgetting he inherited the least talented team in the National Football League, he went all, "There's a new sheriff in town, boys, "Do Your Job" is out, "We see Race" is in". That's why Josh is the MVP... they were able to rest and throw today's game away because their record is better, and he's doing it with a lot less! Everyone who gets mad Lamar doesn't get it, blame the voters! If they hadn't given it to him last yr when there wasn't a really good reason, too, will be why Josh gets it this yr! Fatigue! Especially when Lamar usually gets MVP and then is the LVP in the playoffs!
Josh Allen played one snap and sat the rest of the game you idiot. Joe Milton beat Mitch Trubisky. Because by your logic I can say that Drake Mate beat us because he played too right?

Omg there you go pulling the black card, like always, when it doubt, black card it out
to the next season tanking teams and beyond. don't ever underestimate a head coach that'll potentially lose their job and will plan to sabotage you in the final week of the game! lol as a patriots fan, now i know how the texans fans felt in 2022 and now it happened to us. gosh i'm so mad right now! xD
but the Texans drafted Stroud with the 2nd pick and it worked out for them. idk how the Patriots are gonna recover from that blunder with the 4th pick
Texan fans are pretty happy right now with stroud
Sabotage you? I wouldn't respect any coach that tried to lose. I also don't respect anyone that hopes for that outcome. I question those ethics and IMHO don't deserve nice things. I hope Robert Kraft has losing teams in the years to come. For only giving Mayo one year, he deserves it.
@@cag19549 Mayo is just a failed experiment! If you can’t perform at your job you get fired! That’s life!
@@cag19549welcome to life after TB12 & Coach Belichick!
So Mayo pulled a Lovie. Watch y'all end up with a better player 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
😂😂😂
So true. I knew Mayo wasn’t the first one season and done after winning the last game of the season, I just forgot it was Lovie Smith. So sad they end the year on a high note for the players but not the HC.
Exactly
I don’t know why everyone trippin about mayo should be happy he’s gone
They only gave him 1 year with a rebuilding team plus the Patriots weren't even that bad this year tbh compared to the expectations at the start of the season and loss a lot of close games to decent teams like the Colts and Seahawks. They even beat the Bengals and almost beat the Bills with starters.
We need to go get Vrabel
New England fans are happy he's gone. The rest of the people commenting don't know what they're talking about
Honestly, I think most Patriots fans are happy he’s gone. They haven’t been pleased with him all year.
@@1Learn2Swim3 I'm a Pats fan, I was hyped for the win, and I'm not happy he's gone. Hoping Kraft stays consistent and fires the next guy if the Pats suck again. 🤞
He wasn't suppose to lose to keep the number 1 pick then trade the pick for more picks
Clearly fired him for winning today. What a jobber. Worst win in franchise history
Never should have hired him in first place. Dude was way over his head
BTW, Bill Belichick, after going 5-11 in Cleveland, came to the Patriots and went......5-11
He got second chance, and started 2001, 0-2, and then Drew Bledsoe got wrecked by Mo Lewis
Enter Tom Brady and the rest is history.
Another example of black NFL head coaches getting the shortest leash in sports
You're trying to play victimization here, but it wont work. The Panthers fired there WHITE coach Frank Reich and he didn't even make it 1 season. Nathaniel Hackett who is white..got fired in season as well and didn't make it 1 year.
Other white coaches fired after 1 year - Freddie Kitchens, Chip Kelly, Urban Meyer, Jim Tomsula, Rob Chudzinski, Mike Mularkey ect. but as soon as a man that has darker skin you come out of no where and cry racism. Find Christ and he'll change your way of thinking
It was the same reason why he was hired....another example of DEI fail.

ok but that was with 2 different teams. for NE standpoint they had the same record with 2 different coaches. he needed to have an improved record to stay and he didn't. technically he had a worse record since the bills sat all starters and weren't trying to win because they didn't need to. so in actuality the record was more like 3-14.
That roster? The GM needs to be fired!
It's also the GM's first year but he gets to keep going.
Bc the head coach was problematic, not the GM
Along with the owner
The GM, Elliot Wolf, had a terrible draft; literally just took the third quarterback available then did nothing to upgrade the rest of the roster.
I thought he would be given one more year at least because this man had nothing to work with!! No line no receivers and no supporting coaching staff. Mayo should have 1 more year at least
There is nothing to work with and putting that product out in the field
I really think he got fired cause they won the game Kraft wanted that 1 pick😂😂
He got fired for winning that game and pissing away the number 1 draft pick. He probably still would have a job if he didn’t do that.
That’s what he gets for “Seeing color” 😂
The reason he got fired was cause he botched the first overall pick let's be honest
So because he had integrity he got fired? Best thing that could of ever happened for Jerrod Mayo in my opinion
True
@@TruStatementNetwork why? He won't be hired anywhere else
If the Patriots dont land Vrabrel, all of this was for nothing!!!
Or Ben Johnson
@@jerodmayoINCJohnson isn't touching his dumpster fire
Vrabel is a trash coach
@patsr11 😂 not gone let you do that Titans fire him was took bad locally and didn't make since.
@ why?
Something needs to be done about the blatant discrimination against African-American head coaches in the NFL. They shouldn’t be allowed to be fired after one season.
So it’s ok when white guys get fired after one season, just not black guys? Ok. 👍
What about Frank Reich? Urban Meyer? Nathaniel Hackett?
@ they’re white so it does t count. 🤷♂️
He was Belichick's successor, so that meant very big shoes to fill, so it had nothing to do with skin colour and if it did he would have never been hired in the first place.
@ it was in his contract that he would take over after Bill. But I think they thought Bill would be there for another year or two.
When he talked more about race than football in his first press conference, I knew he wasn’t the right guy.
Considering this outcome he was right. No coach on the planet would have made over .500 with this roster But they still would have had at least one more season
3 of the last 4 coaches fired after 1 season were white.
2025: Jerod Mayo (New England Patriots )
2023: Frank Reich (Carolina Panthers)
2022: Nathaniel Hackett (Denver Broncos)
2021: Urban Meyer (Jacksonville Jaguars)
@@bigjack79 I think you meant to say Mayo instead of Saleh
@@bigjack79 this is disingenuous come on man. Urban Meyer got fired do to off the field antics.
Very funny. How many games have the ravens won with Lamar out injured? Think they would be back from 0-2 with someone else?
😂😂😂😂 laughable... the bills win with his sub par numbers
Like Lamar's last year.😂😂 Allen had 50 tds last year and they DEI the award to Lamar.😂
All you got are hypotheticals.😂
Kraft texting belichek "Hey we fucked up"
They fired him cause he threw the #1 pick 😂
Homie got fired for winning 😂
In regards to Mayo the reality is that he had a clause in his contract that forced them to make him head coach... That was the price for previous contracts and relationships. Now, with a proven head coach available who uplifted a mediocre franchise, they are moving on. It makes perfect sense.
Sounds like another Brian Flores situation
The difference being Brian Flores can coach. Jerrod Mayo was unprofessional and in over his head as a head coach.
Winning when you're trying to lose is like getting fired on your day off.
Lovie Smith sends his condolences lol
The browns picking top 5 for the last 20 years you would think they would get a playoff run with some of these guys.
They did win a playoff game with Baker
Pats went from 1st pick in the Draft to the 4th pick in the draft. Yes! You're Fired!
1 year 😭😭😭😭
Non pats fans don’t realize how bad it got
Mayo had no chance to begin with, then before the last game is played , Pats decide to start interviewing HC prospectives. What did Mayo/Van Pelt have to lose?
So…time for Mike Vrabel? 🤔
Time to fire Elliot Wolf and hire an experienced General Manager. Mike Vrabel hasn't built a team starting with a terrible roster.
I want Mike Vrabel
I can’t disagree with the decision, because I cannot stand coaches who punt on 4th & 1, especially when they are in a “must score” situation.
Mayo is way too conservative.
Even tho mayo might not be head coach material Kraft doesn’t have a clue what he is doing.
He got fired cause the owner probably wanted him to tank and he didn't.
It's not racism guys! I've been a pats fan for 20 years! They had no choice but to make Mayo the HC due to BB leaving. A guy that already knows the system and team that can attempt to fill big shoes! Their thinking about a long term coach, that coach could be black or white......Mayo was never the long term guy, I'm more upset about losing the #1 draft pick low key lmfaoooooo
Edit: If the patriots had a great season and went 9-6 he would have still been fired...
Believe whatever makes this easier for yall to digest. Bill had the same record with this team LAST SEASON! What will NE fan base say if the team goes 4-13 next season under Vrabel? Probably blame Mayo. The truth is this team is suffering from Bill's sins as a GM.
@@michellesmith38 Same record Vrabel would stay because Mayo was only supposed to be temporary....I think you missed that part lol. It's not likely as this season was literally a back office season and they just let the players and mayo do what they wanted. Come back here next year if they are 4-13 and I'll cash ap you $50 :)
Man, any of the players gonna take accountability… what’s he supposed to do with that practice squad…
He didnt get fired bc of their record
The seeds of his firing began with his very first press conference. Forgetting he inherited the least talented team in the National Football League, he went all, "There's a new sheriff in town, boys, "Do Your Job" is out, "We see Race" is in". If he went 13-4, we would have been, "Race good", bruh. 4-13, take you and your race sh*t out'ta here, bruh.
Herm said a lot, without saying anything when they pointed out how long the last head coach was in place.
Tom Brady saved Bellichek. If you remember Bill went 5-11 in year 1 and was on the verge of getting fired. Mayo didn’t have a Brady to save him.
I’m afraid this firing was over that #1 pick leverage. 🤦🏿♂️
Funny how I'm mentioning the obvious, but they keep erasing my comment. We all know Mayo didn't stand a chance to make it past 1 season...wrong skin tone.
dude knew he was getting fired so he lost them the 1st pick 😭😭😭
one year is insane. do you want him to win games or not
Not when it makes no sense to win. The winning should have happened between weeks 1-16. Winning in week 17 and pissing away the number 1 pick is absolutely stupid.
Andy Reid rested everyone so they didn't have to play Cincinnati. Patriots should have did that!
They want Mike Tomlin fired in Pittsburgh too. A guy going to the playoffs with Russell Wilson. Some guys have to be twice as good.
People want McDermott (when they lose in the playoffs) and Shanahan gone too. If you have a window and don't capitalize on it, that's kinda what happens
Nobody has said they want to fire Tomlin, Jesus Christ people are so sick of the black card being pulled every time a black coach gets fired.
@TigersTilliDie yeah I just pulled that out my ***
@@TigersTilliDie Nah, that does happen. Not because he's black though. It's because certain markets always go nuts if they're good but don't win the Super Bowl repeatedly. Pittsburgh's one of the main offenders of that. Baltimore and Buffalo too. And that's not even mentioning Dallas, though they're not good enough for that label this year
no, just need to win super bowls pal
Anyone else notice that Joe Milton used to go to Michigan? And the Pats drafted him in the sixth round? And he was born in the year 2000? JS
I’m glad he won n got them out of the 1st pick. You fire the man after 1 season he probably knew that was gonna happen so now you don’t have the #1 pick now. Hope they continue to suffer
Guy had no chance, but clearly showed he was not ready for this job
Mayo, Raheim Morris (Atlanta), Antonio Pierce (Las Vegas) all on the "hot seat" or out the door. They give non pigment coaches 2, 3, 4 years of being sub par. Brothers? You got one year and thats it. And those white coaches were also fired. You complain if not hired. You complain if fired. Etc.

ANOTHER NFL TANK COACH (?)
What the Patriots have done to Jerod Mayo is apparently another example of a head-coach-being-hired-to-tank (ie, lose games by design/intent). Let's look at some recent head coach hires:
🏈2016 | Cleveland Browns | HC Got Hired to Tank (Hue Jackson)
🏈2018 | Arizona Cardinals | HC Got Hired to Tank (Steve Wilks)
🏈2019 | Miami Dolphins | HC Got Hired to Tank (Brian Flores)
🏈2024 | New England Patriots | HC Got Hired to Tank (Jerod Mayo)
...anybody notice a pattern?
That's why Josh is the MVP... they were able to rest and throw today's game away because their record is better, and he's doing it with a lot less! Everyone who gets mad Lamar doesn't get it, blame the voters! If they hadn't given it to him last yr when there wasn't a really good reason, too, will be why Josh gets it this yr! Fatigue! Especially when Lamar usually gets MVP and then is the LVP in the playoffs!
He got fired because he didn't get the memo... Played out of drafting Shaduer, Cam, AND Travis..
The best part of this game is Josh Allen losing to Joe Milton III
Josh Allen played one snap and sat the rest of the game you idiot. Joe Milton beat Mitch Trubisky. Because by your logic I can say that Drake Mate beat us because he played too right?
How did Josh lose? He played one snap?
He messed up the franchise they were supposed to receive the number one pick and he let them win, that's why they fired him.😂😂😂
Belichick finished 4-13 got fired mayo had the same record got fired it’s fair
Don’t tell people logic. They want to blame race 😂
Typically it takes 3 years to rebuild genius.
Yea everything is about race now not actual coaching talent
BILL GOT FIRED TOO!
First of all after Brady left the Patriots were not good post Brady meaning he had multiple bad seasons leading up to last season to fail firing someone after one season with a bad roster is set up to fail
He was suppose to lose that game for the 1st pick. They fired him because he won.
Everybody talking about but hes bĺack 😢 😭 cry harder
You don't want to be the guy that replaces THE GUY. You want to be the guy who replaces the guy that replaced THE GUY.
TF NE thought they were going to do? No one thought NE was relevant. Their defense was good, rookie QB no offense weapons
- He was bad on defense
- his post game conference where bad every time
- He won the game he needed to lose
- The team was undisciplined
He needed to go asap!!!!
He should have never been hired as the HC at the first place 😒
He was suppose to lose that last game for the number one pick …that’s why they fired him.
They better fire the new coach after another losing season next January
Tony, a sympathizer 😂😂😂 dude corney
He saw color but he did not see W’s
Only mistake he made imo was not starting maye sooner
Or Milton but I really don't believe Mayo had much control
@@GiftedonesVSyou can’t start Milton before starting maye that’s just a crazy bad look to not start your 3rd overall pick because “he’s not ready” but start your 6th rounder or whatever Milton was
Not surprising at all Herm! When your first words through the door are about processing everyone's race before their skill and character, this is the result. DEI don't work.
A black man always gets fired after 1 year, even though the owner knows he's coming into a hard situation, but other coaches get at least 3 years. Smh

Kraft most likely told him or expected him to throw the game. Otherwise this firing makes zero sense.
