Thanks a lot for this video! But is there a way to compare the before and after side by side? so in the preview window 1 side showing the LUT effect, and on the other side the original (before applying LUT)? I know eg that Magix Pro X has a 2 window side by side feature
The new 2020 September release doesn't have that feature. Hopefully it will be added. I think many users who work with LUTS will want to see it included. --Jim
@@SharperTurtle one other huge missing feature is the possibility to reduce video noise! (Not meaning audio noise). Also NEAT does not offer a plugin for Powerdirector
Reaching with question about PD365. Why does it crash so often now? I run i7, 32gigs of ram, 2 HDs Asrock motherboard, GTX 1070 video card. Literally few hours ago, I ended up wasting over 3 hours completely updating my windows environment. Go back to my project... Crashes again (?) I am working with multiple video tracks, some using the same clips, but with mask designer. My workflow lasts 20 minutes, before I get the blue screen with code, and uncontrolled info gathering, followed by a reset. This only happens with PD365 on my PC. Any ideas???
That's got to be terribly frustrating. Sound like you have great hardware. There might be help for you on the Cyberlink forum, which is a voluntary group. One of the first recommendations you will find there is to make sure you upgrade your video drivers. They can cause problems. You can also upload a diagnostic script (see the FAQ for the forum) and some of the very technical guys there can see things in that document that might help you out. You can simply Google "cyberlink forum" to get there. --Jim
When I click on the LUT, it doesn't change my preview of my clip. It loads the LUT into my preview window. I have to drag the LUT over my clip to show to see how it changes my clip. Do you know if there is a setting I have to change so it works like yours does in your video? Your way is much easier to see how the different LUT's affect the clip. I have Powerdirector 365.
It looks like they changed the way the interface works with LUTs since I made that tutorial. I hadn't noticed it. I have the same things happen on PD 365 that you do. I'm not sure why it's more difficult to preview now. I'll have to update the video to reflect the new reality. --Jim
You've apparently have more detailed knowledge of LUTs than I do in some respect. I know it has something to do with the sampling, but it's a bit fuzzy for me after that. --Jim
Fantastic! Will start using this for cinematic videos. Unrelated: do you have tutorials on 360 videos? I recently discovered PD supports these, but am finding it daunting to launch into the features...
Don, I haven't done much with 360 because I don't have the hardware to create 360 content. To really understand it I'd like to be able to shoot that kind of video. So at the moment I'm limited and hoping that others will fill the gap. --Jim

They moved the control in PD 19 (365). It is now found in the effects (FX) room. Here is a tutorial about that. th-cam.com/video/y-sqpWbp-08/w-d-xo.html --Jim
Well done! Do you find when you add a LUT your computer needs to work a lot harder to continue editing? Should I be editing, and then adding the LUT to individual clips?
Good observation. I find that the presence of LUTs does impact the rendering time. I would probably use them near the end of my process for that reason. --Jim
Very well explained!
That feels great coming from you, Chris. Thanks! --Jim

I know all of us with a cube file can work with PowerDirector. Do you know the difference between a 33 point Lut and a 66 Point lut?

Do you have a video on downloading LUTS from the internet and installing into powerdirector? Because I'm not sure how to do that.
I found your video on installing in powerdirector.
Here is a video on working with third party LUTs.

I am using PowerDirector 365 and there is no option for Color Presets & LUTs in Fix/Enhance.

The problem is there is no preview.
The only way I know how to do that now is to switch the track from active to inactive and back. --Jim
