    It's actually amazing how good you can manual on a bike trail! On a flat road is one thing but up and down and over bumps 🤯🤯🤯

    My specialized turbo levo wheelies pretty good even though it is a 54 pound bicycle. I set the acceleration response to 100% so it pops up really easy and I think the weight of the bike actually helps me. My EMTB buddies think I'm a nut but any bicycle can be a good wheelie bicycle. Thank you for the inspiration! I'm 57 and I am finally getting it dialed. When I was young I simply thought I didn't have a good balance and no one told me that I have to practice practice practice. I love TH-cam for all the learning you can do. When I do something sexy on the trails all my friends say oh geez Richie has been watching Jeff Kendall weed videos again!

    This is brilliant riding! Would love to see you manual a huge wheelbase bike to show everyone how it is (or isn't) possible. Wheelbases, bike weight, and rear centres are growing, all working against easy lifting of the front. Paul Aston is loving his 500mm chainstay bikes lately, but says he can't manual them, and I know he is good at manuals. Where is the limit? It seems too common for XL enduro bike riders to complain that their bikes don't manual well, and I know you can show what's definitely possible.

    • @JeffKendallWeed
      @JeffKendallWeed  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey there temptation, I have a Transition Spire here with fairly long (445mm) chainstays. I can manual it, but it's a LOT of work to manipulate it through turns and tight sections of trail. I'm not a fan of really long bikes. As someone small and light, I need to be able to steer around and avoid bumps- not charge right over them. Here in the USA, it's very rare for sanctioned trails to ever be steep enough that long stays provide more benefit than drawback.

    Nice, well I'm not the best at manual-ing or wheelies I can do them.....and honestly, my 2015 Specialized Enduro wheelies better than my Ripmo V2 (don't tell Ibis). Just ordered some LMNT too, I've been noticing I needed more than just water, even though I drink a ton of it! Thanks Jeff!

      No, Schraeder is sweet. It's a shame our industry was too stuck up to admit it's a better design back in the 90s/2000s. Presta is garbage for our needs, but it's what we decided we preferred. Maybe another Pet Peeve video needs to happen!!!

    How would a 150mm fork work on this bike?
    Could you go all the way up to a 160mm fork? Or would that change geometry too much?

    @hunkyheyward486 ปีที่แล้ว

    I dont understand why you say that a bike with shorter chainstays is better for wheelies- i feel like while it might be tougher to get a bike with longer chainstays up, its always easier to balance because cg is further off the ground which allows for lees precision required to stay up
    Like balancing a yardstick on your finger vs. A toothbrush.

    • @moose6790
      @moose6790 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      the short chainstays just make the bike more responsive in a wheelie overall, allows you to pop the front end up super quick and maneuver around the trail on one wheel easier. A super long bike will have a higher balance point in a wheelie and won't be as responsive, so it takes a lot more effort to keep it up on the back wheel.
