    I'm am no grass seed expert either my hubby and I have been seeding our lawn for the last couple years and I can say one thing we did this year that has made a beautiful and amazing difference is dormant grass seeding we seed right before a big snow and that allows the seed to get pushed into the dirt and stay moist amd when spring started we saw soo much new grass popping through and also have great root development

    Hi. As a fellow flower lover, I first thought you were 'bonkers ' 😊 taking away flower bed to make the path wider. However, once you explained it all made sense. Brilliant how the cuttings have grown. 😊😊

    I really appreciate the information you share. It’s so helpful! I followed your advice and propagated my dahlias this year. I had really good results and they’ve doubled in size already with roots growing out the bottom. It tripled my dahlias for this season. Huge thank you!

    I’m so interested to see how your Clarkia grows. I tried last year and had too short or spindly stems as well. I’ve seen it grown beautifully overwintered in the PNW.

    Love your wider path and love propagating too.
    I've managed to propagate some osteospermum "doubles", which have a much prettier centre....and have saved a cutting of my budleia, which died of some sort of fungal disease at the end of a very wet and stormy summer.
    As a lawn re-doer, I usually sprinkle a light amount of fine soil over the top of the seed but your working the seed in a bit will work just as well.
    Make sure to water twice a day....you should see a green verdant glow on the surface come 7 to 10 days or even earlier if it stays warm.
    I have to wait til next spring to tackle my patches.
    Your garden is looking far more organized and easier to see plants that are taller in the back and shorter at the border.
    I'm trying to do this too....Alot of moving plants around and sorting drifts of colours that are easy on the eye.
    Great gardening,!Danielle 😊

    Hello, I know you already answered this in a previous video but I can't find it. Who makes that watering can? I think you said it was 3 gallons? I love the way you can flip the rose around for a gentle watering. Finally in the market for a new one. Oh and thank you for suggesting Longwood Gardens! I live in MA and my husband and I went down there last summer and loved it! So we went back at Christmas and just came back again from seeing the tulips!

    🤔 hmmm so many things to consider doing. I will definitely take some cuttings of my verbenas & consider seeding my grass which will never be perfect grass. I’m a bit warmer than you here in N Carolina so I need to consider that. Our last frost date is April 15 but all of your tips help me think through the seasons. I love your garden and look forward to the tours!

    Guilty here too, of narrowing grass paths. Why waste good garden space on grass when there's so many beautiful plants to plant, no? LOL.(Sigh) Your garden feels so well managed, Danielle. I've got to cut some paths for efficient weeding through my old rose, overgrown garden. Sometimes it feels overwhelming. Your garden is a happy place for me & always inspiring!

    I think 2 of my butterfly bushes died and a third looks dead all but 1 branch… they got hit hard with spider mites last year and I don’t think they were well established before winter… oh well I think I will replace them, or maybe try a dwarf lilac instead

    Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with us! I can’t wait to try this with my verbena. Verbena seems to grow so slowly for me. I use grow lights, fish emulsion fertilizer every 1-2 weeks and pot them up as needed. Am I missing something?

      I’m having trouble getting my verbena to germinate, any tips?

    • @majesticgardener5862
      @majesticgardener5862 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@mienkedezoete2146 I used a heat mat and humidity dome. Johnnys Seeds has great info on starting them. But if you’re having trouble you could try the moist paper towel method. I’ve found that works for just about everything. And with quick results too. In case you’re unfamiliar, get a moist/damp (not wet) paper towel, place the seeds on it then fold it in half. Because verbena needs darkness to germinate I place the papers towel inside of aluminum foil and put it in a zip lock bag on the counter. Check it often. Once it’s sprouted, remove and plant out. Hope this helps!

    • @majesticgardener5862
      @majesticgardener5862 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I struggled with them originally too in Michigan. I did have success when I planted them in spring, elevated slightly higher than ground level. I think it helped with drainage due to our wet snowy winters.

    • @eileenchang2173
      @eileenchang2173 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@majesticgardener5862 , I will try only one more time and perhaps elevating it a bit more. I did tplant two of them last spring so crossing fingers that one of them at least survives. All 3 others have died over the years. It’s so unfortunate because the reason I bought them is to keep the monarch butterflies around. They absolutely love the plants! 🇨🇦

      I don't like them either. I'm always trying to be open minded, but I've never seen one that was pretty enough to take the place of something else. Maybe if I had a huge landscape and wanted some variety... but I think I'd end up trying it for a bit and then replacing 😅
