    I don’t have schizophrenia but both my older brother and our mother had it. Growing up in a family with so much mental illness around me on a daily basis changed me in bad ways. I wasn’t lacking in sympathy but as a child I couldn’t understand my mother’s strange beliefs and felt I was somehow responsible. My father worked all the time, I think, to escape this. When my mother attempted suicide he insisted she was “just worrying too much” and just needed to rest more. A doctor once told me I was the lucky one because I didn’t get the gene. Maybe so, but the long lasting effects of growing up in such a home environment has left its marks on me till even now at 76 years old.

      I don’t doubt it! My Papa (grand-father) had a brother with it, and while I’ve never met him, I’ve heard a few stories that it was rough for him (and the others) growing up!
      He’s around… 70 or 71, I think. 🤔

      I'm 27 and my mum has it. Some weeks she's fine, others completely unbearable. It's not her fault, but it's hard to be around her. I understand she's unwell, but there's only so much screaming, threats and accusations you can take before you get burnt out.

    I am a diagnosed schizophrenic. I take an anti psychotic religiously every night. Before i was diagnosed and treated i droppedout of 2 university courses couldnt hold down a job for more than a week and has spells of unemployment. After treatment i picked up. I have worked for 23 years and got a degree in art history (2:1(Hons)). I am now a landlady and writer and filmmaker

      @Animefan-usa yes once I was diagnosed and treated I was, still am able to lead a fairly normal life. I take 6mg Risperidone every night religiously and I feel I can cope with whatever life chucks at me. I have worked in business for the past 23 years and gained a degree in Art History 2:1(Hons) of which I am quite proud. Things came right with me once I was on the right meds and being monitored by professional psychiatrists

      @@citizensnid3490 can I ask you something. If you start seeing faces in everything, not hallucinations, illusions, is this schizophrenia? I’ve been having this for 6 months now. Everywhere I look aside from blank surfaces, I see faces,faces of people, demonic faces, cartoon faces, depends of the surface of the object I’m looking at. It’s a phenomenon called paredolia but it’s very extreme for me. I wonder if this is psychosis.

    My daughter gradually developed this over time, and I new she wasn't well, but I couldn't get her to the doctor because she thought she was perfectly well. Then one day after many warning signs, she had a full blown mental break down. I have since gotten her to a doctor and councilor, but she makes every excuse not to take her medicine. This has been as one can see very difficult for everyone, as when she had the breakdown, she went into the neighbor's yard looking for the voices she was hearing, and got thrown in jail for 8 mo. For trespassing and stalking. Neighbors are judge and law enforcement people, unfortunately. My husband did not want me to bail her out as he was at a loss as to how to handle her. Have heard that the mental institutions are pretty terrible places. Everything is all about business and money. No one wants to help anyone unless it is very lucrative. It's a sad world right now. Her father and I are getting old, and I need to get her diagnosed so she can get disability before we are gone. I'm so scared.

      PSA - Schizophrenia does not exist. If you are experiencing voices others cannot hear, you are experiencing clairaudience. If you see things others cannot see, you are clairvoyant. You could also be telepathic. Please be aware you are speaking to the spirit world, other telepaths, or both. Many doctors do not realize this themselves as they have been trained/brainwashed to believe there is something wrong with you that must be stopped/fixed, when there isn't. These abilities are SUPPOSED to be gifts, but if the wrong people/entities are using them to contact and harass you, it can feel like torture. If others can't experience it as well or don't believe you, they say you are "crazy". Please don't believe these lies and let them medicate you into oblivion, turning off 📴 your brain, essentially. I can explain this all day, please reach out if you have any questions. 💜

    I'm a veteran, was actually diagnosed with schizophrenia since my teenage. Spent my whole life fighting severe depression and mental disorder. Not until my wife recommended me to psilocybin mushrooms treatment. Psilocybin treatment saved my life honestly. 8 years totally clean. Never thought I would be saying this about mushrooms.

      Congrats on your recovery. Most persons never realizes psilocybin can be used as a miracle medication to save lives. Years back i wrote an entire essay about psychedelics. they saved you from death bud, lets be honest here.

      Mushrooms are very medicinal. This is why
      anybody familiar with psilocybin and any other kind of fungi will tell you, "They are alive." They have a very ancient wisdom. To my experience, all mushrooms have always said, "Pay attention to your life. How you think, how you feel, and what will you do with the information that you always knew, but now are seeing in this point of view." This is why mushrooms are so respected in tribal cultures. This mental health treatment works for me too. Half micro doses do the trick for me. At least a few days at a time with lengthy time in between. Thank you for sharing this point!

    • @Iiisslogan-co6np
      @Iiisslogan-co6np 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      I wish they were readily available in my place. Microdosing was my next plan of care for my husband. He is 59 & has so many mental health issues plus probable CTE & a TBI that left him in a coma 8 days. It's too late now I had to get a TPO as he's 6'6 300+ pound homicidal maniac. He's constantly talking about killing someone. He's violent. Anyone reading this Familiar w/ BPD know if it is common for an obsession with violence.

      I was horrifically depressed since childhood. It was relentless. I assumed it would ultimately end me somehow. About twelve years ago I randomly accepted the offer from a friend of a few doses of mushrooms. I did them two consecutive nights alone. First night was pretty mild. The second night? Wow. I saw my depression from every angle, realized much. Next day: depression totally gone. Never came back, never coming back. It's like it's a forest far away I can remember, and could probably find again with enough effort, but it has zero impact on anything in my life or mind. They honestly saved my life and improved it immensely. I never did them again, either. I wish there was a good, organized way to administer them to people who would benefit from them.

    Got diagnosed with Paranoid Schizophrenia 10 years ago now. Still have the voices (i call her "vicky" lol) but with the injection its a lot easier to deal with. Don't make the mistake i did for years, and medicate with alcohol. It stops the meds from working and combined with the Anti-psychotics nearly screwed my Liver. Its the stigma that's difficult for me - ive had many people assume im violent, just because the way its portrayed in movies and culture.
    It can be overcome - and you learn your own personal coping skills in the end. But even that took me years. I don't want your sympathy - all i ask is your understanding.

    I don't think people with schizophrenia are neccesarily disconnected from reality but rather, they experience uncommon thoughts, feelings. Which are totally REAL for them. For example i was smelling fire and hearing sirens. People can tell me it's not real but for me it was absolutely real. I was completely stressed out and depressed and ended up being institutionalized for 2 months. This was about 2 years ago, have been doing a lot better and hopefully never going back to such a dark depressing state of being which is caused by extremely stressful difficult life circumstances that YOU NEED TO TALK ABOUT or escape it. You don't always know what's happening so it's not always possible to prevent depression/psychosis and other illnesses if you don't know what's happening yourself. So get help if you're lost, scared, alone, depressed, anxious etc. Love you all.

Look what happened to Andrea Yates You need religion. Jesus said to the parylitic “ I will cure you now , but if there is not a return to God, your illness will come back “. My problems started when I answered telephones at a telemarketing firm in Illinois during he World Trade Center attacks. I was instructed to say "The planes are down and we are not shipping" for an entire day. We got flooded with phone calls, some losing their jobs - that being myself. I had just turned 21 years of age and went on a smoking and drinking binge for ten years. After I was informed that a friend from High school had died from a drug overdosed, I chose to tell everyone that knew to go away and I am going to conquer my own addictions - booze and cigarettes, like painting over dirt. Have you ever tried claiming your sovereignty and COMMANDING the voices to leave? Jesus, Mother or Father God or the Angels will gladly help. Please know you hold dominion over your mind and they must go. I've tried with my anxiety and it works. I also did it with the psychic attacks I was having. The first time I had voices telling me to off myself. I cried out to the Mother of all Mothers to take them, and she did. I learned I, too have the Power. God told us we have dominion over such things. Get yourself a Higher Power, if you don't already have one. This place is harsh, I could not do it without my guides, nor would I want to. Much Love

    my mom had schizophrenia she used to think people were after her of course she always talked to herself and seemed to have private conversations with herself. I worry I'm going to develop it but I don't have hallucinations I don't think people are after me but I have had paranoia thinking people are talking about me. I don't think I have delusions for now I have just been diagnosed with generalized anxiety and depression. I have a pretty firm grip on reality but sometimes just don't want to deal with reality so I do my favorite things like play video games and watch tv. I also believe I have adhd cause I do suffer from lack of motivation and disorganized thought patterns. I'm really not sure if I show signs of this condition either I hope not my mom had to be in hospitals her whole life and then developed cancer at 60 and passed away. She was on psychiatric medications her whole life I do take two medicines wellbutrin and zoloft. I don't really think they help very much. Maybe I should see a therapist lol.

    If you are already paranoid (for instance, the feeling of being followed on the street, but actually there's nobody) and because of that, you're aware that you might get schizophrenia at some point in the future.. would that actually impede it from happening since you would know that you would see/hear is not real? Or perhaps at least impede it from being too severe? I am really afraid I might have this when I get old, and I would like to know how my mind would react to such things. Can people be aware and stay calm even if they see something horrifying happening in front of them or anything like that? Can you make the distinction from reality and illusions?

    • @gigahorse1475
      @gigahorse1475 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      This happened to me. To be clear I haven’t been diagnosed with schizophrenia but I have been diagnosed with a psychotic disorder. The short answer is that being aware doesn’t prevent you from having it because schizophrenia is a brain disease and not just a “mental disorder.”
      I realized I had a problem when I read a book describing my symptoms and then found out it was schizophrenia. I thought I could tough it out and force myself to be normal and aware of reality. It WAS helpful to have good insight, but over time I just got more paranoid, more hallucinations, more cognitive issues, until I finally asked for help.
      That being said, I would NOT worry about this if I were you. Worry won’t save you, and if you DO have any distressing symptoms you should see a professional as soon as possible.
      Schizophrenia isn’t something that happens to old people, except in rare cases. If you’re past your 30’s it most likely isn’t happening.

      If you really care for him and live him stick it out. But he has to help himself for you to help him. I'm mentally ill and tried to explain this to 2 ex gf. One is the mother of my son. Both left me. When things was good and I was carrying guns and gang banging they lived me and now when I'm down they just kicked me. I've been broken since she took my boy away. Like 5 years now. Barely shower and clean self medicate nightmares everyday cry in my sleep wake up screaming and crying one noticed it once and still. Couldn't stick w me. I knew a few people who dabbled in occult subjects such as talking with spirits, hexing and general witchcraft. They now all have paranoid schizophrenia. Perhaps the interest in occult subjects could be an early symptom of the onset of schizophrenia, or perhaps there really are invisible entities that prey on curious people. I'm not trying to conclude anything by saying this, but the only three people I knew that did that stuff regularly have that condition. I only know four people who have schizophrenia, so it's too much of a coincidence for me to dismiss outright.

    Hi I would like to know if this could be schizophrenia. My older sister started to show signs around 2010 of depression and lack of sleep which effected her quality of life. and eventually she gave up her high paying job in 2013 and till date she's unemployed. She hears voices and mosquito sound inside her ears, which ahe thinks they are coming out to bite her also the demons are attacking her.Ive adviced her many times and offered to pay for all the expenses if she see a psychiatrist but she just wont understand. I hekp her financially and she's unable to manage day to day life. She 57 yrs of age but the symptoms started at 44.

Obviously I’m no doctor but so many people including those in the medical field have said before he shows symptoms. He refuses anything to do with mental health I just want a psychiatrist or something to tell me he won’t hurt himself. I live with my mom and he’s completely alone because he cut everyone off. He also has always had anger issues so we can’t really help by force. I just need advice since I’m to young for my input to count.
