- In this video we explore some of the basic concepts of tackling synthesis problems using retrosynthetic analysis. We outline a summary of carbon-carbon bond forming reactions and common functional group patterns that can be easily dissected retrosynthetically.

Thank you for explaining it very clearly, i now understand it very well now how retrosynthetic analysis works.
Really like how you present the materials. Wishing that university lecturers could do the same thing
What an excellent video, thanks a lot!
very nice video !
Great video! Really helpful
Thanks! Let us know if you have other chemistry concepts you'd like us to explain!
Very informative lecture, it helps a lot to understand the topic. Good job!
Your lecture is too good...keep it up👍
This is amazing!
It helps me, thank you!
excellent video thanks a lot
gotta ask you all something, do please excuse my question but for all i know that when you oxidate ketone you have carboxylic acids not alcohols. actually you get ketones or aldehydes when you oxidate alcohols not reduce it. Orrr is this because everything is in reverse?
The special "hollow" arrows are called retrosynthetic arrows and they represent a reversed action when planning a synthesis. "Normal" arrows in a reaction indicate "makes" or "goes to" whereas "retrosynthetic" arrows are read as "comes from." So, using a normal arrow an alcohol "goes to" a ketone in an oxidation whereas using a retrosynthetic arrow a ketone "comes from" an alcohol via oxidation. Hope that helps!

From which book these examples is??
Hello! The examples in the video are not from a book. I created the examples for use in my organic chemistry classes and then also used them here.
@@LOCStudios Great job! well done
