    Returned home from the funeral of my wife's young brother to find our Kohler toilet running and running ..... just what I did not need.
    Thanks to a moment of calm ... I found your video .... a quick run to our local hardware store that had the genuine yellow Kohler gasket on the shelf .... another calm look at your video .... and one less aggravation in life in less than 15 minutes.
    Thank you .... your knowledge, and taking the time to post a nice and easy full description is greatly appreciated.

    Thank you! LOVE how you demonstrate the little twist to detach the canister without saying a word. Language barriers be damned! Great video! Like others here, I knew that rubber gasket was the issue. I didn't know how I was going to get to it. You rock.

    Great info. With a $7.00 new seal and this video I am a home repair champ. Detaching the cylinder at the bottom was the key piece of knowledge. I initially tried this on my own and felt like I was breaking something. Many thanks!

    Thank you so much for your video Roluardo, the toilet had a hissing noise from time to time and I didnt know why it was happening. I've changed the gasket in the pump 2 months ago which I found the solution in youtube also, saved me money and the annoying noise of water running out. Now with your help I've got the solution for the other problem. Thanks a bunch!!

    After removing the tank and finding out the flush valve is non standard I almost had a heart attack. But after searching online and coming aross your video I felt much better. Just flipped the seal and voila'. A new one is in the mail. Like everyone else said, thanks a bunch for helping out the community. Also, totally loved the silent style.

    Thank you for this. I could not figure out how to remove the post to get to the seal until I saw your flick of the wrist method. I was thinking of breaking the thing and replacing it all. This saved me time and money.

    Had to say thank you and your video is right to the point. Tried to do it prior to watching and did not want to break the plastic thing in the middle. So happy to see how you removed it from the bottom. Thanks again.

    • @will_ren
      @will_ren 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Same. The plastic 'stalk' just didn't feel like it would come loose without shattering. Then, I saw you do it in the video and I was like "oohhh..." and mine came right loose. After that it's a 30 second gasket replacement and no more drip drip drip down the drain.

  • @esthercaldwell
    @esthercaldwell 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Perfect!! I'm female, almost 70 and was able to easily reverse the seal, clean the mating surface and stop the leak. Will probably go ahead and replace all 3 seals in the house just because it's probably time and easy to do. Well done and for any language!!

    Thank you for the video. I had a brand new toilet and it kept running so I did not need to replace the gasket that you are replacing but this video showed me how to take it off and I realized the leak was coming from the screw in bottom part. I just had to turn it a little to re-seat it.

    Fantastic video. Seriously.... just what I needed. The only thing I could add is a clarification. When you place your hand under the valve, you actually have to apply a lot force. At least I did. I suspect it is because of scale build up from our hard water. Again, great video. Thank you for this.

      +Vincent Valcin How often do you have to replace this seal? 3-4 years or every year...
      Is this a good type of design compared to a typical flush valve with
      flapper on top?
      (Keeney k835 for example)

    Hold on! Not so fast!Don't trust the stop to cut off the water flow.When I had this issue I found that my angle stop was letting water dribble into the toilet and down the defective flapper even though nothing could be heard. I kept assuming the water was completely off when it wasn't and I couldn't find the responsible toilet.I knew water was coming from somewhere because I could see the tiny continuous stream into the septic tank.
