My English teacher Mr. York played this on his guitar in class. I was about 9. It was so and is a powerful song. Stayed with me in my mind. I am 52 and still playing it.
me to my class teacher played this when i was in yr 4 i think in primay school and i still think about it at 16 soon to be 17. obviously not as great as your amazing memory but we were around the same age when we heard it

After doing some volountary work in a homeless shelter ,sat outside having a smoke watching the leering masses walk by homeless folk some there through no fault of their own ,this song takes on a new meaning

Story time:
So in school we were learning about persuasive writing we found a lot of persuasive writing in this song the next day we had to change the lyrics of this song and change it about covid-19 (btw I am in year 6 so my writing would be good) and we had rewards in our school you get a certificate if you get reward 3,4,5 if you get reward 5 you get a golden certificate and a prize from the head teacher I already got a reward 5 from the fist they back to school after lockdown so I was happy but few weeks after I got another reward 5 because I wrote a brilliant song/poem about covid-19 as I was talking about earlier
