There might be someone that comes along and hits 4, but no one is EVER going hit 3 in a row on the first pitch, from 3 different pitchers, to 3 different part of the park. It is still amazing 41 years later.

My Dad was at this game. He's somewhere out there in right field. He was a man of few words, but he lit up when reminiscing of that night and the Yankees in general. He passed away this year. I'll pass his stories down to my son.

Very sorry about your dad's passing but you have the wonderful memories of him and like you said ones you can pass down. I just lost my dad three months ago. And while he was not a baseball fan I have a wonderful sports memory of him, going to my first ever Soccer game together. Best wishes.

It’s the perfect storm
Cosell's voice was made for big moments. He wasn't ideal for calling baseball games in the regular season. How worked up can you be about one of 162 games. But for boxing, Monday Night Football, and playoff baseball, Howard was the maestro.

One of the sweetest swings in baseball !!!!! I remember being on my little league team in Oakland (we were called the Oakland A's) and our coach took our team to the Oakland Coliseum to watch the real Oakland A's practice. There was no game that day. Guess who walked over and talked to us???? None other than the great Reggie Jackson himself. I remember he was wearing the old style Oakland A's uniform, so it must been around the late 1960's or early 70's . Anyway, Reggie spent time with us, answered all our questions and gave us tips on playing the game. I never forget that day and I will never will forget Reggie, a class act all the way

Catfish Hunter, Joe Rudi, Sal Bandero, Rollie Fingers with general manager Charles Finley who recruited these players were a dynasty. They won 3 World Series. Reggie Jackson came to NYC and set the city on fire.

I was is awe. Sports figures like Reggie were bigger than life. There is something else only A's and serious fans of REGGIE really appreciated. Watching REGGIE strikeout! His violent swing was one for the ages. What a legend. When he hit HRs you knew it. The all-star game in Detroit was Roy Hobbs stuff. REGGIE! REGGIE! REGGIE!❤⚾️⚾️⚾️

True story. His second time up...I told my friend " he's going to do it again." Third time up, I said "here comes 3 in a row....first pitch...watch". It was not an educated guess. I knew he would do it. So weird, I just had a premonition. Totally freaked my friend out.

I was 13, watching this with my Dad and my brother on TV. The third time he came to the plate, my Dad (a lifelong Yankees fan) said "he's going to hit another one". Then of course he did. It was the only time in my life I ever saw my Dad yelling and jumping up and down in front of the TV.

I stayed home from school that day playing sick. I felt like I was getting ready for the game. I said If Reggie doesn't hit 3 homers tonight I'll be so mad at him. I have often heard stories over the years how people felt he was gonna hit multiple homers that night. Crazy premonition from so many people including myself.
At @1:15 mark, my father is the guy in the dark seats who runs across the screen from right to left. He said the guy who ran straight down was the one who got the Ball because he kindv've smothered it. My dad worked for the Daily News at the time. It's always pretty cool to watch this video and see his 3 nanoseconds of fame haha.

One thing many people forget about Reggie's performance in Game 6 of the 1977 World Series was that he actually hit home runs on the last FOUR strikes he saw in that series. Often forgotten is that he also homered off Don Sutton late in Game 5 on the last pitch he saw in that game, which the Dodgers won easily to force Game 6. He walked on four pitches in his first AB, which Burt Hooton also paid for, thanks to Chris Chambliss hitting a HR after Reggie's walk, and then he hit three consecutive first pitch HRs to cement his legacy.

I will never forget watching this. My favorite player of all time. I was 6. I was to young to see his years in Oakland.
Though baseball may not be America's most popular game, it has BY FAR the most revered postseason in all of sports, period. Magical moments like this, the Fisk fair or foul, and Kirby's "We'll see ya tomorrow night" are proof

This was our last one together because of divorce and he married his 4th wife and NEVER looked at me again. It took me half my life to get over his bullshit! I am now a 54 year old man and will always love this night! Reggie and I have the same birthday ( MAY 18) that's what made it special for me as a kid and a fan of his from his GLORY DAYS in Oakland! I remember as a kid in North Texas straining to try to stay awake to see through the end of this game. I did. I was 7. For the next 10 years baseball was nearly the most important thing in my life.
I grew up in LA during Reggie's time with the Angels. He's my childhood hero. I waited for him after every home game we attended and he would acknowledge me every time, even remembered my name. Still have the cap and bat he gave me. Love that guy.

Reggie ran the bases, he had no trot other than his typical running of the bases. They say in sports, act like you been there before and Reggie did. Even his candy bar was pretty good. lol

I turned 17 in Sept of 1977. My family had moved to Colorado where there was no MLB team yet. Born in the Bronx, I was and still AM a Yankee fan. Always will be and Reggie was THE MAN! He was THE clutch player who had the gift of TIMING! October came and Reggie shifted into high gear with a level of focused intensity very few in any sport have ever acheived. Love you Reggie!!!

Reggie Jackson was the man back then he was built to win the best move by the Yankees back then on signing him they sign a winner, pitchers feared him, i saw all of his big home runs with the Yankees, he comes to the plate with these broad shoulders and big fore arms and that champion smile he help take the Yankees to two world series championship titles back to back whipping the Dodgers both time, how awesome is that.

He may have "looked" like he had faults.. but I did meet him once and he was just the nicest, most gentle, and friendly guy.
@@averagejohnson3985 He wasent a great fielder and struck out too much. But never had a problem with what he did off the field.
Faults? He struck out WAY too much, he had a very high opinion of himself but I think that was part of his greatness. He was a bit of a liability defensively. But few had the presence on the big stage in big moments than Reggie.
I still get chills watching this performance by Reggie.

I was only 14 years old when that world series game was played. I remember after the game was over, Yankees won, and the fans swarmed the field. Hard to believe that was in 1977. Where has time gone?

I remember watching this game and I still get goosebumps every time I watch it. This moment was one of the best moments in sports I have ever seen, and there have been so many.
Reggie was something special in this world series… I even name my first child after him.

Saw this on TV at the time. Greatest single game performance of any player I've seen in my 40+ years of watching MLB - 3 HR on three pitches in the deciding game of the WS. The thing about the last HR that was so impressive, in addition to its distance, was that so few players ever hit one in that blackened batters-eye area in centerfield. When you saw it happen, you were like "OMG - never saw that before."
