    I have been test driving all the cars in this segment and the MG ZST is the standout in my opinion. Build quality is the equal or better than the competition, it is better to drive in the majority of conditions, the engine is the latest tech, the gear box is a proven design that is also chosen by most of the high end manufacturers and it has a state of the art safety package. Factor in the price and it is a no brainer.
    The present anti China campaign, started by the US because they can't compete with Chinese manufacturing, will influence some buyers but I personally would rather see my dollars go to China than a German company that thought it is OK to poison the people with their engines.
    Bring back Aussie car manufacturing and I will buy one of them but until then I will go with the best deal.

    I test drove both the MG Excite @ 30.5K drive away as well as the VW T-Cross 85TSI Life 32K drive away. VWs are normally great cars, but the MG had a lot more premium feel both inside & out. The MG had a reasonable amount more power, a lot more features, cheaper servicing costs & a 7 year warranty. It wasn't a difficult decision, I am buying a MG.

    I agree with the post below. MG stand out. Looked at 7 cars in 4 hours and this comparison result makes me think this review is compromised by a VW payout

    The VW looks a decade old with that boxy design and ancient halogen reflectors. Doubt Chinese car reliability is any worse than Eurotrash, Japanese cars smoke them both in the long run (Korean too these days). I’d probably err on the side of a Kia to be safe but the MG is no doubt interesting.

    A Chinese car comparison with a German car. Just the fact this test is taking place speaks volumes for the Chinese car. If only they sold them at Bunnings?

      @@sickassf4124 The current owners of the brand is SAIC of China.
      But manufacturing is done even outside China in India and Thailand.

    Is the MG sunroof suitable for Australia? That cloth blind looks very substandard...The car will likely heat up in no time in the sun...

      All VW group product like Audi Skoda sunroofs uses similar mesh blinds, I've used that since 2008, we were worried at the start, but it actually worked fine for the past 12 summers

    • @aussieburn777

      I had a huge sun roof and the blind was high quality very thick material could not ask for more but the heat factor was there even on a 20 or 21 deg day you needed air con. Those mesh ones would be like sitting in a microwave with glad wrap on.

    This isn’t an MG, it’s an insult to the name , I bet most of the sales staff let alone the buyers even know what MG is an abbreviation for

    We should be boycotting all Chinese made cars... Like they are doing with us.. the MG brand was basically stolen from Rover in the 90s..

      Stolen? By who?

    • @User-cb4jm
      @User-cb4jm 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Haha it’s the best selling car in the small SUV segment ahead of the Mitsubishi ASX by nearly double. Clearly Australian consumers are buying these in droves. Also you can’t “steal” a company, they chose to be bought out by a company that actually is making profit unlike defunct Rover…

    Is there anything more unaustralian than reviewing and promoting an MG motor right now. Can these motoring journos get woke.

      The evolution of capital towards rentism is the reason for the flight of Australian made goods. Thanks to the symbiotic chi-merica relationship, buying any product in the west will make both capital and china stronger, and they couldn't exist as they do now without one another. Liberal Individualist economics from the likes of the Mises institute are the reason for the world you live in, the dialectic between social liberalism and economic liberalism is a false one, don't fall for it.

    • @User-cb4jm
      @User-cb4jm 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I thought you right-wing(nuts) that complain that everything is “woke” were against “censorship”, or maybe I guess only when it suits your agenda… They are free to make this review and the Australian consumer is free to buy it. And guess what? They are - in record numbers - look at what car is THE BEST selling small SUV that’s selling double the No.2 competitor (Mitsu ASX). Coming soon to a driveway near you…
