    Your amazing and motivated me to make this!! I’m going to get 6 steamed crabs and use Phillips lump & claw. Hope to be anywhere close to your fabulousness!!!

      You are so kind. Your plan sounds like it will work. If you are able to find the Hanover Old Bag Veggies that would be great if not just use more Old Bay. Good Luck and thanks for watching.

      I bought 2 bags of Hanover old bay today, after 3 grocery stores, finally I found it at Food Lion. I am doing double as you did so I got 2 Lbs of Lump, 2 Lbs of claw and got 4 L male crabs to use the claws and body’s as you did, I don’t have as much fabulousness as you to pick all of the crabs 🦀. I’m hoping it will be good!
      You really knocked it out of the box with your Soup!!!
      I’m Born & raised Marylander as well. ❤️🦀❤️🦀❤️

      Quick question do you add onion or would it be ok too?

    • @MommaNeedsAGoal
      @MommaNeedsAGoal  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MyPicasso I didn't add any and I just went to look up the ingredients in the mixed veggie bag and I can't find it. It's not on their site any longer. Oh my, I think it has been discontinued. ughh but to answer your question you can add onion.

    Very cool Kelley...that's a labor of love picking the crab for this dish.....being a northerner I would have to go for a can of crab meat....looks amazing and can't wait to try...

      I was at the grocery store yesterday and a 1lb. crab meat was $37. Went to Costco this morning and it was $38 for a lb. I was going to make crab cakes. I think I will wait a little longer. lol

      It is one of my favorite foods. If you have any questions about Maryland, just ask. Lived here my entire life, though we are thinking about moving in a few years when we retire. Thanks so much for watching.

      oops sorry I missed your Potato question. Yes, you can add potatoes. The vegetable soup mix that I use has potatoes in it. They are just chopped up small.

    Ypu never said whats in those spice packs in the hanover veggie mix. You said you list it. Im sure its very important to the flavor. Can you please provide this information?

    • @MommaNeedsAGoal
      @MommaNeedsAGoal  ปีที่แล้ว

      oh my, sorry I didn't realize I never posted the ingredients to the packet. I have some in my basement freezer so I will get it out later today and post an update in the description box. I will copy and paste it to your response too. Thanks for bringing that to my attention.

      Tomato paste and old bay is pretty close if not the same

    • @MommaNeedsAGoal
      @MommaNeedsAGoal  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Here are the ingredients in the spice packet: water, tomato paste, beef broth, salt, vegetable protein, seafood seasoning (old bay), chicken juices, rendered chicken fat, crab base (crab meat), butter, potato starch, salt, sugar, potato flour, crab juices. If I was to replicate this I would just use tomato paste, old baby seasoning and a little beef broth. With all the other ingredients in my soup this should work.

    I came across your Maryland Crab Street recipe. It was absolutely great your recipe was by far the best I’ve ever had. The only thing I can’t find is that Hanover foods Maryland Crab mix I looked at Giant they don’t carry it. Safeway doesn’t carry. Any suggestions please

      Thank you so much, I really appreciate you watching and taking the time to comment. I have found the Hanover mix at Food Lion and Weis. So far they are the only two stores. Sometimes you will not find it until around May or June. I stock up when I get it. Thanks again and hope you find them.

    I'm gonna give you a little tip by the crabs raw season them yourself and use the broth as the stock. It comes out ten times better than beef broth from a can

      I remember my dad doing that when I was little and I think he added a can of beer when he steamed the crabs. I have to be honest I don't think I could steam live crabs. lol But that is a really great tip and brought back memories for me. Thanks so much.

      Absolutely NOT!!!! We ordered a bushel of crabs to eat with family. We picked them up when the store was closing and they gave us 4 extra dozen of crabs. We had way to many to eat. So instead of Wasting them I put them in my big freezer. A few weeks later I thawed them to use for soup. I call that being smart!

    I'm sorry but you don't know what you're doing flower does not get put into a cup of soup Raw and you don't add half-and-half to a tomato based soup go back to a recipe book and learn all over again

      I am sorry but I DO KNOW what I am doing. I made a very expensive batch of Maryland Crab Soup. I stated that I have never eaten or made Cream of Crab. I stated that I read people use flour and half and half. I was NOT about to add that to my expensive batch of soup and not like it. So, as I said in the video, I was going to add those two ingredients just to get an idea of what it would taste like. I know adding it after the fact is not the way to make it. This video was about making Maryland Crab Soup NOT Cream of Crab. Again, I was just trying to get an IDEA of what it might taste like. I thought I made that clear but if not, I apologize. I am always willing to learn from my subscribers and if I do something wrong, then yes please let me know in a constructive way. I can thank you for the correction or I can explain myself better than what I did in the video. I do not appreciate your rudeness. It doesn't cost anything to be kind. Have a great day.

      Thank you for being honest. You are correct, my husband says I have diarrhea of the mouth. This is an older video and I have gotten better and if I notice I talk a lot I try and edit it out as much as possible. I am getting better at it but still need to do better. Please try and skip through my chatter because it really is a good recipe. Thanks again for commenting, comments like this truly help me create better videos.

    Well, I copied your recipe it was absolutely amazing. I did make my own seasoning but I didn’t use that much of a bag because my mom can’t handle the spice but it still turned out great thank you.
