I actually can't believe it. I went on their website an hour ago and thought it was down because they'd launched it early and the site was getting hammered, then I found out why. I'm completely devastated. I'm not even installing Black Ops 6, I don't care anymore.

I grew up in a single mother household with not much income. I found an og copy off mw2 for the xbox 360. This game used to help me escape from the poverty and enjoy my time. Financially we escaped poverty, but I'll never forget how much mw2 had helped me too, it's art and it's taken away twice now.

Best time of our lives, campaign, multiplayer, Co Op Veteran Spec Ops, along with the raves, football games, concerts, everyone was playing MW2 on campus. That was the Rum N Pepsi back then. Mw2 was perfect. I feel ya man, I feel old
SM2 got shut down because it was gonna be standalone after it changed engines to H1, bundled with MWR files, so it was basically an illegitimate copy of a Call of Duty game. But with H2M-Mod, it required a legit copy of MWR, so Activision was making money by doing nothing. This is worse than the SM2 situation.
TBH stupid people in the discord asked about pirating the game and the h2m dev got torrent files in the discord free to download, thats why it happened

I was even able to refund the new MW3 after 5 (!!!) hours of playtime via Steam. Gaben is good. Haha as soon as the EOMM kicked it was an easy refund and a lesson learned for brainrot me.

I spoke to the H2M founder, Watchful Wolf, about why they shut it down and this is what he said in his reply: "It was 'affecting the devs work and effort' so seems like they didn't want it interfering with bo6 sales" So yes, they are worried about BO6 sales. That's why they killed it unfortunately IMO, the time to release it was a poor choice. They should have waited until late winter/early spring to release it after BO6 sales died down. It definitely would drive sales to MWR on PC, and make up for the dip in sales after they peak. Under that circumstance, they may have allowed it. This is deliberate. They waited until the DAY BEFORE the mod was set to launch. They waited this long, and I guarantee you they knew about it and had it on their radar on DAY 1 OF THE ANNOUNCEMENT. They wanted to trick people into playing the game for more than 2 hours so they could not refund it, and that will happen

It's probably not legal if you read the 5000 pages of terms and conditions that you have to accept when booting up a CoD game. Even if it's legal you won't win Vs Activision's lawyers.
I'd say its more on a legal gray area. Nintendo has dealt with this sort of stuff for a long time. Other than that, there hasn't been a particular specific precedent in my knowledge at least regarding a case like this going to the court. After all none of these modders have enough money to hire a lawyer who'd actually bite back to Activision's lawyers. Furthermore the Terms and Conditions everyone signs for the purchase of games may or may not have clauses that waive the right to sue them - and makes you promise to never mod the game or edit its source code. If you've signed the argument and waived those rights, courts are more than likely to side with Activision.

We used to have a lot more variety in shooters like Quake, Tribes, Unreal, Duke Nukem, Half Life, Serious Sam, but ever since the advent of COD and Battlefield, every FPS has to be a generic copy and paste military clone. If you go to the Steam store, there are tons of old and gold classic FPSes that can be bought for a low price, with these games having modding communities, custom maps and dedicated servers, something that modern 70 dollar triple A games don't have.

This isn't related to COD or H2M, but I think Pokemon Uranium handled a C&D better when the developer got one from Nintendo and shut down the project for those who haven't downloaded it, but continued support for the people who did download it.

People were all saying it would be fine because no piracy this time since you'd have to purchase MWR. The issue is that MW2 campaign remastered assets were still being offered "for free" meaning people who did not purchase MW2 campaign remastered would still have access to assets they pulled from the MW2 remastered campaign and put into H2M. So because of that Activision can again simply claim it shut it down because of piracy. This is a tragic day for us fans of the old cods, I am sad about this since I really wanted this mod to thrive. The only thing left to do really is go back to IW4x which is still up somehow.

I spoke to the H2M founder, Watchful Wolf, about why they shut it down and this is what he said in his reply:
"It was 'affecting the devs work and effort' so seems like they didn't want it interfering with bo6 sales"
So yes, they are worried about BO6 sales. That's why they killed it unfortunately
IMO, the time to release it was a poor choice. They should have waited until late winter/early spring to release it after BO6 sales died down. It definitely would drive sales to MWR on PC, and make up for the dip in sales after they peak. Under that circumstance, they may have allowed it. But not before when it would potentially pull away millions of dollars in profit from BO6

I'd say its more on a legal gray area. Nintendo has dealt with this sort of stuff for a long time. Other than that, there hasn't been a particular specific precedent in my knowledge at least regarding a case like this going to the court. After all none of these modders have enough money to hire a lawyer who'd actually bite back to Activision's lawyers. Furthermore the Terms and Conditions everyone signs for the purchase of games may or may not have clauses that waive the right to sue them - and makes you promise to never mod the game or edit its source code.
If you've signed the argument and waived those rights, courts are more than likely to side with Activision.

The only way now to boycott is by opting out of the Black Ops 6 Beta and any future COD games. Do not give them a second of your time. There are much better games out there. My personal suggestions are Left 4 Dead 2, UT2004, and Quake 3. Why? Because they have more soul and passion than Call of Generic
Problem is there aren't any FPS games out there that competes with COD, so people buy COD anyways.
I still play Left 4 dead 2 and I will be playing that over black ops 6 any day of the week.

We used to have a lot more variety in shooters like Quake, Tribes, Unreal, Duke Nukem, Half Life, Serious Sam, but ever since the advent of COD and Battlefield, every FPS has to be a generic copy and paste military clone. If you go to the Steam store, there are tons of old and gold classic FPSes that can be bought for a low price, with these games having modding communities, custom maps and dedicated servers, something that modern 70 dollar triple A games don't have.

Even though Activision is legally in the right, there HAS to be something illegal behind it. They willingly put the game on sale just before the mod came out, and rug pull not even 24 hours before the launch. This comes off as very deceitful and something should be done about it.

@@mrhyperr9264 makes sense for both SM2 and H2M, you could play SM2 for free. H2M also got a C&D because they used assets from a differenet COD game. And of course the main reason is that they don't want the modding community to create something that is better than the main games.

Good thing I never opened the game, and i can get a refund. Activision is the pinacle of a trash company. For those who get BO6 in any kind of way, I hope you regret buying it. This is absolutely awful and terrible towards the modders who put their time and talent into the FREE project on a game we had to PAY for. Activision is scared modders are doing what they can't and make a good fucking game and our attention would not be on their "mobile game" trash. I hope Activision gets whats coming to them. This isn't related to COD or H2M, but I think Pokemon Uranium handled a C&D better when the developer got one from Nintendo and shut down the project for those who haven't downloaded it, but continued support for the people who did download it.

I blame the CoD culture at schools. Young people are very impressionable and they are being brainwashed into thinking they're good at FPS's when they're actually not. My country has a much smaller XDefiant playerbase and I've seen so many people try the game out, get their shit kicked in, and then never persevere with XDef cos they want the easy lobbies of CoD. Activision have ruined generations of gamers because of their greed.

Today's my birthday bro. My gift was having the one multiplayer game I actually gave a crap about be C&D'd by the worst gaming company in the entire world. Activision's executives and CEO are the kind of people that would throw their own mothers under a bus for a quick buck.
People were all saying it would be fine because no piracy this time since you'd have to purchase MWR. The issue is that MW2 campaign remastered assets were still being offered "for free" meaning people who did not purchase MW2 campaign remastered would still have access to assets they pulled from the MW2 remastered campaign and put into H2M. So because of that Activision can again simply claim it shut it down because of piracy. This is a tragic day for us fans of the old cods, I am sad about this since I really wanted this mod to thrive. The only thing left to do really is go back to IW4x which is still up somehow.
treyarch lets you rip mw2cr assets and any other cod games assets to use for custom zombies without owning those games
But the mod does not give you these assets, COD does. They allow players who didnt pay to get the assets.
