The locations on the map that are black are places you have heard about or read about in a book. The locations that are colored in white are places you have discovered and can fast travel to.
Ah ha! Maybe I've been told this before, but I'm over 40, I probably forgot if so lol. Thank you for answering this little question :) They often get overlooked but I love getting answers on them!
Well done! I'm glad your back is doing better. :) 3:33 - Rundi's Dagger? Honestly, I don't think I know that one. There are many named weapons and items that aren't special or part of any quest. I think the damage came from that platform where you found the dagger. 5:28 - The nice thing about Shadowmere (and the unicorn) is that they are immortal and won't fight against you. They will occupy bears, trolls, even dragons. A great companion for archers and spell casters. 8:20 - I don't recall whether "Leysa" successfully framed Brand-Shei in the beginning when starting the Thieves Guild, but I'm assuming not. 9:35 - The map is large, but you can only go so far. At some point, you will be told you can't go any further in the direction you're going. 12:22 - Honestly? Seeing a Riften guard fight an Imperial soldier in a town like that? This is a first for me, too. Very strange no other guards are coming in to help, or others are not getting involved. Maybe a bar fight? I wonder if they'll still be fighting next time you return to Riften. 14:42 - I don't recall if "Leysa" has done the Thalmor Embassy quest. If so, she was at a big gala there. Note that if you walk by any forts with bad guys, they'll normally attack you if you get too close. 19:10 - Clairvoyance can get confused if one has multiple quests. 23:05 - I might see if I can find some of that mead this weekend... 27:40 - Glad you like that big cavern! There are many different designs within the game. 28:40 - The "nature creatures".... spriggans? 30:15 - To catch butterflies, one can hit them with a sword then pick up the wings from the ground. I wonder if you could shoot one with a arrow and it'll work the same? 32:10 - That was one of those rare northern flying bears! :) 42:06 - Wow! You've been picking up a bunch of alchemy ingredients. Time to do more crafting? 46:31 - Miraak doesn't take all those dragon souls, but he does take a high percentage of them. Once he starts, I find it's best to go thru the Dragonborn quests and get rid of him, ASAP. 47:37 - Well done to bring that old guy his helmet! Yes, he taught you a level of Sneak. 48:28 - Yes, there is a nice, big house you can buy in Solitude. Talk to the Jarl or the steward to learn more. In 2011, that house was available for $25k. It still is today. It's too bad actual real estate doesn't work like that. Glad you're having fun with it! Take care! Steve
Thanks Steve! Baby steps :) And of course, I did outdoor work yesterday and that's set me back a smidge. Something you don't know?! Impossible! :D j/k ;) It is neat for you to see things in my videos that you might not have seen in your playthroughs though! No, Leysa got caught and broke out of jail lol, Brand-Shei caught her red-handed! The guard thing apparently is from me giving Riften to the Imperials during the moot at the Greybeards. I completely forgot about that bungle! It was still shocking to see. I didn't know if I should join in or not lol, and sided with caution. Yes! Spriggans! Terrible, awful creatures! I buried the memory of their name ;) Hmmm, yes, I am quite loaded with alchemical ingredients. I bet I could epic Alchemy at least twice over... Yea...Miraak...grrrrr. I want him gone but not enough that I'm ready to return to Solstheim and Dwemer ruin nonsense lol ;)
Hi, Leysa! I don't know when you recorded this but I hope your back is ok now. Yeah, Shadowmere is a great horse, but I still find Arvak is more useful since he's both summonable and immortal (unfortunately you can only find Arvak if you do the Dawnguard DLC though). The Imperial soldier and the Riften guard were fighting because even though control of Riften was handed over to the Imperials as part of the Season Unending quest (the meeting you had at High Hrothgar where you arranged a ceasefire in the Civil War) the guards are still scripted to be loyal to the Stormcloaks.
Hi Carl! My back is finally getting better, physical therapy is amazing :) Dangit! Well...maybe we'll save Arvak for the mage, since she's on the Dawnguard questline :) Though...she has the unicorn too...but summonable sounds superior! Oh shoot! I totally forgot that I did that at the Council thing with the Highbeards! I regret that so much now :(
Hmmm, I barely remember the Bard's College. It's been a looong time since my Solitude exploration video. Maybe I should look at doing Bard College stuff soon, get me back over in that area of town :)
The platform with Rundi's dagger has some exploding Frost Runes on it. Rundi's Dagger (along with Borvir's Dagger, Yisra's Necklace and Ilas-Tei's Ring) is part of an unfinished quest about missing College apprentices. Phinis Gestor at the College has some dialogue about this. The mod Cutting Room Floor restores this quest (one of its best features, I think).
Missing College apprentices sounds vaguely familiar, but not sure that I have a quest for it. Maybe my mage character does though. Why would a mod be needed to "restore" the quest? Why would it need restored? If you pick up and sell all these items before you have the quest, maybe?
@@leysaplays Well, to bring closure, so the College knows what happened to them. All the resources in the game are there (including Phinis' dialogue when you complete it, something you can't see unmodded) except the quest framework itself.
There is a spell that helps a lot with finding corpses: Detect Dead. You don't have it yet and it's pretty rare. According to the wiki, Tolfdir at the College can sell it when you have reached skill 70 in Alteration. Moss Mother Cavern (in Falkreath hold) is also a pretty place, but it's like a smaller imitation of Shadowgreen Cavern, and without a pillar mountain in the middle.
Yesss, I definitely need the detect dead spell! I keep forgetting spells exist, ha, dangit. I'm so facepalm-y. I think I stumbled across Moss Mother cave, weren't there some hunters in there? And I got a dagger with like +25% crit to animals or something? It was pretty :)
@@leysaplays Yes, Valdr is outside and wounded, his two hunter friends Niels and Ari died in there.. There is a small objective to clear out the cave. You can choose if you want to do it by yourself or have Valdr alongside you.
I'm too thorough - any time I stop by Hendraheim I empty my bag of all the detritus lol and mead counts as detritus. I think it will have to be a very happy coincidence for me to have Honningbrew Mead on my person when I stumble across this encounter :D
You are correct, I have! I didn't think they'd remember or recognize me lol. Figured once you move on, that's in the past and heck, do they even KNOW for SURE that the person running around on a horse was the same person that infiltrated the place? How would they know? Hmmm.
Here is something that the game does not explain very well. ALL damage that is not from blunt force is considered "magic" damage. Any fire is magic. Any poison is magic. The steam breath from the Dwarven Centennial is magic. Armor and your armor rating has nothing to do with magic damage (unless your armor has magic resist). When a mage is shooting lightning at you, your armor does nothing. You can have magic resist up to a max of 80%. You can get this through the agent of Mara quest, some of the standing stones boost your resist. Or you can have enchantments on rings, necklaces, and apparel. You can also use potions to have temporary resistance. On top of magic resist, you can have elemental resist up to 85% on Fire, Ice, or Lightning. Same rules apply as magic resist. Since armor does not matter, you can enchant some hats, and shoes, and rings and necklaces, because these weigh less. When the dragon shows up, put on your magic/fire resist gear. Drink a potion.
Also, your follower cannot die unless you kill them, and you have the perk from the Black Book that your attacks don't hurt your follower, so your follower cannot die at all now.
Hmmm. This harkens back to when I first installed SkyUI. I think it can allow you to designate equipment "outfits" and you can swap your items with the click of a button. I never really dug into the feature and just powered through stuff with healing potions. Sounds like I should give it another look. Having a resist suit sounds advantageous.

The player home in Solitude is Proudspire Manor, next to the Bard's College.

Ha, yes, that Black Book benefit has saved both Lydia and Jenassa's lives no doubt!
