Charleston is fun and exciting, but turning in Charleston can be a headache for many a follow. In this video, I highlight a few details that I sometimes see holding follows back, including body movement and lead/follow connection technique. I also show some solo drills and body movement to work independently. Hope it helps!

Fab thanks Laura, always good to keep the basics in check! The first thing I learned in Lindy Hop was to pretend I was holding a tray of drinks and always have my hands available for the lead, sticks with me to this day after 13 years! I have to say many a time I used to elbow my lead in the face when coming in back to closed, hahaha, glad to say that one got dealt with in class easily, just roll that shoulder back and purr hehehe!

Wow. The split screen comparison of wrong way vs right way really helped! I recognized myself in many of the shots on the left. :-(
    Excellent tutorial!

Hi Laura! There's a typo in the description of the timestamp of "Intro to Charleston Turns" hehe. And by the way, great video!

Excellent - I presume! I can't play this video with family asleep, because keeping the music quiet enough means I can't hear your voice. Is there a way to automatically equalize the volumes?

Oh, I don't know that there is - maybe for someone more techy than myself. But in my more recent videos, I've been trying to pay more attention to the volume. So many little edit things to learn!
