    Rodney Mullen is the GOAT bro! Round two is my guilty go to when the fam has gone to bed and I wanna remind myself why skating is more tech than playing an Ibanez. And you know my feels on that!

    This was a fun watch!
    I did a review on one of these before they went into production... one of 300 test decks they had at the time (I never asked if I could, I just did).
    I used to be a pain in Steve Douglas' rear and he'd still send things over, haha.
    Cheers fam!

    I made a light setup last year and I found that the biggest change was when I went for smaller wheels. I found a pair of 42mm’s and it made a world of difference in how fast the board can flip and spin, but it rolled for significantly less longer.

    • @Rory-D
      @Rory-D  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Ahh true. i can see what your talking about that longer wheel rotation will delay each wheel spin like a vinyl record. very interesting man.

    Sweet 👌🏼I'm also in my mid 30s from Aus. I've been on and off skating my whole life. (besides as a kid/teen it was non stop lol).
    I just ordered the same board in 8". Also have another Almost mullen resin 7 deck. I've liked Almost for past years now. Something about the shape and kicks I enjoy. Mellow or steep both are good to me. Also their stiffness and how snappy they can be.

    This is my dream setup since my left ankle and right knee were badly injured last year. I don't actually pop my board that high before
    my injury, but of course, it still sucks when your knee starts to hurt even with just warm up tricks, not even starting your session, especially when you're using heavy Indy regular trucks.

    • @Rory-D
      @Rory-D  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      agreed mate, i have to warm up for ages these days to get some reasonable movement going again. The board and trucks help heaps.

    Wow...that's almost the exact setup I picked for my second board recently. I think the only differences are the bearings (Bronsons ceramics) and the width (8.25"). Trying to pick up skating again after trying it a few years ago. Enjoy your setup, should be sweet! :)

      @Rory-D thanks for the advice, I've been working on my balance on my dominant side and within 4 days I was totally comfortable running and jumping on the board, tic tac came back easily, pop shove it's are down, now I've decided to work on my switch side, just skating around and slide stopping and getting as comfortable riding switch with my left foot at the front, the idea is,if I can get comfortable skating about switch,my natural side will be strengthening up and better than it was if I hadn't done the switch thing,
      So far so good,
      I've ollied up the curb a few times now and I can feel my mind remembering that it used to tell my body to do these weird movements years ago, absolutely fkn loving it, done a big hill bomb and had super speed wobbles and lost it, but the fall wasn't as harsh as I thought it would be, I rolled into the fall , and now I'm wearing a helmet and pads I wish I had worn them back in the day, my knees and elbows are totally fine, just some skin rash on my arm and cheek, I LOVE IT AND IT'S NEVER TO LATE TO COME BACK TO SKATEBOARDING.

    I have made in China cheapo ceramic bearings from 15 years ago. That are still rocking. But shield less as over the years I've lost them. From riding and cleaning. I lost like 3 then took the rest off. But there still rocken. Tbh. Me turning 40 this year. And have had a heart transplant a year ago. I'm going to try the impact light with maglight trucks. And if I can get my hands on some Powell dragon formula wheels. And more cheapy ceramics from china. There are some great industrial bearings company that are no names in skating. Just a pain in the ass to get.

    • @Rory-D
      @Rory-D  ปีที่แล้ว

      that sounds like a sweet ride mate, good to hear your on the mend and getting back on the board, i can relate. Its tough after a serious/life changing injury. Also ive considered looking into bearing company's outside of skating as well, I reckon there has to be some industrial manufacturers out there that make heavy duty bearings.

    hopefully you got the mag lights from last year because tensor is using aluminum baseplates on this years baseplates which adds 25g to each truck. check the bottom of your baseplate it should say magnesium under tensor. if it doesnt then they arent as light as the mag lights should be.
