Glad to see people still sharing this info about skating. I learned a long time ago about the whole physics/math behind it (Thanks Rodney for that). Used to get made fun of because of how i would nerd out about the minute details of everything, and how i was so OCD about wheel base length, Nose and tail length, concave shape. Wheel shape, size, and design. All the way down to specific Dura ratings for my bushings and pivot cups. Having everything properly lined up for your specific skating/style your body size is a game changer. Then sticking to those specifics will really show in your skating. I've been skating the same nose/tail/wheelbase/ width for the last 20 + years. Consistency in the stuff you use is huge. I don't settle for close enough.

Nigel's sad "I got a new board too" during the intro of Glo's video from the other day is even better now, I assume the timeline is that they filmed this one and started the other video either right after or in the final minutes here where Gabe talks about going to film Glo. Dude just went on a whole adventure and the other intro was about to leave him out of the new board reveals. Love this non-linear storytelling approach to uploads, there's so much depth to the Braille Cinematic Universe.

Hahhaa when homie at the shop said Diamond risers I knew they wouldn't fit your trucks! I am not 100% sure what trucks the Diamonds match up with but not Ventures as I had experienced myself. My first board I had I put Grind Kings on with Pig risers and those were a great match.
Gonna make my way out to Orbit this weekend. Best deck wall in the Bay.

I ride Thunders with eigth inch risers as well. I've had diamond tried to be sold to me so many times. They're not cut for Thunders and noone seems to be aware lol. Its terribly annoying but I do the same. I just drill them out. Other than that, they're my favorite compound for the purpose.
i said the same thing. diamond risers are meant to line up with indys. you need the shakejunt, pig, powell/bones risers to match up with the thunders. im shocked nobody knows not all baseplates dont lineup or that not all bushings dont fit, especially ppl who work at a shop
I used to ride shorty’s stacks risers. I had no issue swapping them with thunder, Indy, theeve and Krux. Theeve was my go to for a solid two or three years before I fell out the scene back in like 2013.
I got a complete built at MOA about 19 years ago. It was fun. Since then I bought at least 4 setups. All completes, each a different style. Some of them I haven't used. Don't judge me.

@@Orphioux I have a Waltz freestyle board, spoon nose, in the box, probably worth more now than when I bought it. I have 4 other skateboards and 2 snowboards. I want it to go to a museum if I die before using it.

Thunders have a different geometry on their baseplates. You need Thunder risers for Thunder trucks.
Have they changed since like 2010-12? I used shorty’s stacks and never had a problem with fit on any truck I rode(thunder, theeve, Indy, krux and venture.)

I have been through the board madness. I finally settled down and am forcing myself to stick with on set for learning tricks.
It is a fun adventure but it gets spendy.
52mm wheels are fine without risers on 147 thunders hollow lights and on venture lows for me (even on v-hollow lows)
I fuccs wit you dawg I been skating since 99 and unfortunately drugs n alcohol stole my life from what I loved most n i keep a deck on me but last 4 5 years fucced up and I don’t know how in lost all my tricks but Nigel got me skating again honestly y’all whole team has but he just got style and a lot of people don’t have that real talk homie. In thing is getting the weight ballence right and the pop angle. 52s on 48mm trucks is ok for ground flip tricks with tablets but it's actually to light .. all around skating your want full conicals and 1/8 real risers thunder hollow lights

I've got the thunder lunar hollow lights but I change the lower bushing to a standard medium independent bushing.

Yea the thunder hollow lights sitting at 48mm then you add like 3mm for the rizer you still like 51mm high and use 52 mm wheels your still under weight and height than independent holow stage 11s😊
Yup, that extra weight is the only thing I hate about them. As a little guy it feels like I put brinks on my deck.

I always go a 1/4" bigger with my trucks than the board size. You might wanna try 148's. If the risers are sticking out of the baseplate just cut them off with a razor knife after you mount the trucks.
If your riser pads are sticking out they aren't made for your trucks

Tablets are ok but they leave the axle and nut to exposed but give you more truck.... Spitfire full conicals or conical or radial. Is all I'll skate.

Y’all need to get Candy up in here to spec custom setups for everyone and then pay a visit to your board doctor guy (sorry I can’t remember his name but the guy who did the custom shapes for Ricky, McNugg & Mowgly) to get the right shape & size deck

Best trucks ever i been skating them trucks for a year now and i will never ride a different pair ever again they felt like they was already borken in first time i steped on the board
Real 3mm 3 ply wood risers.
No slip thin and keeps the feel.
I use real 1/8vvwood risers under my hollow lights.

Best place to by skate gear now is on-line. Skateshop's don't usually have everything, and I end up settling for something else I didn't really want, like the wrong wheel size or truck's . Online I can order factory direct, or from Tactics and have the right set up in a couple days. Right down to hardware. Also mini-logo makes .10 soft risers, I use them as shock absorber's/gaskets. I personally don't like attaching (trucks) metal to wood. But that's preference. I mean this shop didn't even have washers? What's up with that? They also didn't have the wheels he wanted. And he sold him .125 riser's to make them work? Why didn't he offer the .10's. Probably because they didn't have them. Same with hardware. Place didn't even have Independent cross bolt's? Do yourself a favor if you want the right set-up. Order on-line...

@@drill4408 the epoxy and the wood itself ”melts” and it loses its original shape and yes it gets a little weaker
