Thank you so much for this beautiful pattern; you made it easy with the slow motion; it resembles the brioche stitch; but this one is much easier than brioche stitch; both patterns are unique in their own way; thank you
Great video, except for the cast on part. There's no need to use two needles for a stretchier cast on. It's how tight you pull the strand around your thumb that determines how tight your cast on edge is when you're using the long tail cast on.
Why do you cast on with both needle like that? I'm new to knitting so does it have to do with this knitting technique or just because thats how you prefer?
+emmmilllliaaa Because this stitch creates a very stretchy fabric, so be sure the cast on and bind off are loose so the edges will stretch with the fabric.
Hi! Just found you via Pinterest. I love the fact that you put the pattern stitch rows on screen, and knit slowly so people can follow. Great job!! Thank you. Can you tell me what brand/type of yarn you are using? It looks so smooth and "unsplitty". thanks again!
Not sure how this lady is doing it because I didn’t try it. But I have a book and the instructions are: Multiples of 2 +1 Preparation row (wrong side): Purl Row 1: *P1, k in next stitch through the st below; repeat from * ending with p1 Row 2: P2, *k in next st through at below, p1; repeat from * ending with p1 Repeat rows 1-2 till desired length. This is from Encyclopedia of Knitting
If this was to be done in the round (to avoid seaming of any kind), would you continue this same pattern, or would there be an alteration of two rounds throughout the pattern?
+Nathan Bryant Hi, pattern in the round. Cast on an even number of stitches, and work one row of knit Round 1: k1b, p1* repeat from * Round 2: k1, p1b* repeat from * Repeat these two rounds until ready to bind off - knit one row of knit stitch, then bind off loosely.
Hi. Cast on an even number of sts. Set-up Row: Knit all sts. Pattern Row: * K1, K1b; repeat from * to end. Repeat Pattern Row until you have reached your desired length.
HEllo, just wondering, do you cast on an extra two if you want to add a selvedge edge or chain edge? I find that when I knit this the edges are bumpy. what can I do to fix this ? furthermore, how do I tink or undo a row to fix a mistake? i can't seem to undo it right and end up having to start over. kind regards
Did you ever get it how you wanted it? How many rows did you do before you looked at it? I found that I had to do about eight or 9 rows before it started looking like it but yeah mine still doesn't look as sharply ribbed as the one in the video. Maybe it's also the type of yarn and the needle gauge?...
Cast-on an even number of stitches, and join to begin working in-the-round. Setup Round: Knit. Round 1: * K1, K1b; repeat from * to end of round. Round 2: * P1b, K1; repeat from * to end. Repeat Rounds 1 and 2.
You're correct, but the result is pretty much identical. Cool huh? This method is faster because you're not switching back and forth between P & K. Preference.
I'm so confused as to how there can be so many variations on this pattern but it still turn out looking the same. Is there really no noticeable difference between finished products with a p k1b row vs your k k1b rows?
If I knitted English style (yarn in the right hand) I would be crippled with carpal tunnel problems in a month. It's SO much quicker and less fussy to knit Continental (yarn in the left hand).
This is a pretty good video. But it's all in handling the yarn. Continental-style knitters run the yarn through the fingers of the left hand - over the little finger, under the ring and middle fingers, and over and around the index finger. The specific part of the video that shows this starts at 6:30.
Kathleen Wagner 1000% agree! Also have you tried "Norwegian purl" with your knits? It is amazing. With continental knit plus Norwegian purl my speed is great😊
I love your patterns and appreciate you sharing, but... it would be a lot easier to follow along for some viewers if there was narration in addition to the demonstration and typed on screen instructions. I had to keep pausing the video to be able to follow along.
This is the only video I see with this pattern of k1, k1B. Everyone else seems to use Purl . But I love how this came out for my project.
After more than 15 different videos, this is the perfect one. My god, so many complex and "not working" tutorials over there. Thanks!
I’ve been searching everywhere for a tutorial easy enough to understand and see all the movements. Thank u
Very easy way of teaching. After many years I am able to do knitting interestingly.God bless you.
Thank you so much for this beautiful pattern; you made it easy with the slow motion; it resembles the brioche stitch; but this one is much easier than brioche stitch; both patterns are unique in their own way; thank you
This is by far the easiest tutorial i've watch...thank you so much😊😊👍
That is great!!!! No purls and no yo!!!! 👍👏🙏😍 I want to knit a cardigan and this pattern is perfect❣️❣️❣️☺️

Excellent instructional video. Thank you.

Dear Carol, you can control the video speed on TH-cam. Simply lessen the speed to follow more clearly
Hey guy can I ask you? If I want it long width so I need to use long stick too right?
Yup!

2nd row knit up and knit down

Brava 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Buona Serata 💋💋
wonder how to do Fishermanäs Rib in the round?
I tried this and ended up with a funny looking garter stitch. I ended up having to alternate purl stitches. Would love to see what I did wrong
I’m having the same problem!
Me too, it doesn't look like the video and not squishy at all....
Not sure how this lady is doing it because I didn’t try it.

super easy and i loved it so much and really wanna try it
Is it possible in circular knitting?
The last hole what did you do to it

+Nathan Bryant Hi,
pattern in the round.
Cast on an even number of stitches, and work one row of knit

How do you make this stitch with 2 colors?
Can you please make a video showing how to unpick this if you make a mistake? I couldn't figure it out, ended up ripping it out and starting over
Wonderful idea.Will make one myself...🥰👌
hi the video was great but the problem is that when i knit the way you did it didn't look like the rib stitch please help me thank you
Hi. Cast on an even number of sts.
Set-up Row: Knit all sts.
Pattern Row: * K1, K1b; repeat from * to end.
Repeat Pattern Row until you have reached your desired length.

What type of yarn would and what size needles would you anyone recommend?
HEllo, just wondering, do you cast on an extra two if you want to add a selvedge edge or chain edge? I find that when I knit this the edges are bumpy. what can I do to fix this ? furthermore, how do I tink or undo a row to fix a mistake? i can't seem to undo it right and end up having to start over. kind regards
Slipping the first stitch of every row creates a nice edge.
What to do with the last loop?
I love the way you have nothing but time
I knit continental style. How would you do that in that style?
Drops Design have a video for Fishermans Rib knit in Continental Style
Mam border bnane kae baad utne hee fandae design main dalne hote hain
I was wondering what type of yarn you are using.
The best tutorial
Hi m nikki i love knitting very much but that wrong side knitting I don't understand
It's very helpful but could you please to give an instruction of how to decrease.
So you k on one side & then you k k1b on the other side & do the some repent on all sides is that right
Yes. You have to make sure you have an even number of stitches; otherwise, it won't work right. Then, * k1, k1b * and repeat to end on every row.
The edges (the right and left sides) don't look good, do they?
i am waiting this so easy Fisherman rib thank u
Muy hermoso y práctico, beautifull!!!! Thanks!!!
Easy to follow. Thanks
How does this stitch differ from the brioche stitch? Are they just two different methods to get the same kind of design?
fallsofjoy Although they look similar, the Brioche is looser looking and not as tight.
It's exactly the same as brioche. The tightness, or gauge will depend on your choice of yarn and needles.
I have tried like 6 different times, and mine looks nothing like yours?
Did you ever get it how you wanted it? How many rows did you do before you looked at it? I found that I had to do about eight or 9 rows before it started looking like it but yeah mine still doesn't look as sharply ribbed as the one in the video. The easiest to follow thanks
Does this design take too much yarn plz reply
Beautiful ❤️
Very well demonstration.
Thank you so much!!!!!!!! 😚😚😚
like the slow mode . thank u.
Oh perfect video thank you
Do you have to hold the yarn with your right hand because of the pattern, or are you just left handed? (Or are you just doing it wrong?)
+not a google plus fan she's doing the english method you must only be famillar with the content method two roads same destination
Continental not content. That's how I knit. This is the English method, you are correct on that.
And how could I work it in the round please? :)
Cast-on an even number of stitches, and join to begin working in-the-round.
Setup Round: Knit.
Round 1: * K1, K1b; repeat from * to end of round.
Round 2: * P1b, K1; repeat from * to end.
Repeat Rounds 1 and 2.

don't you usually do one purl k1b row with this stitch
You're correct, but the result is pretty much identical. Cool huh? This method is faster because you're not switching back and forth between P & K. Preference.
I'm so confused as to how there can be so many variations on this pattern but it still turn out looking the same. Is there really no noticeable difference between finished products with a p k1b row vs your k k1b rows?
Rachel Cook when you're knitting into the stitch below, it doesn't matter if the stitch on the needle was knit or purled on the previous row.
Amazing thankyou
I keep dropping a stitch in my fishermen rib stitch without knowing it..what is the problem please help asap
I think u can put a stitch mark on the kb1 stitches to be more easier try it :)
