    how do you fasten the carpeted floor? exposed screws? Just wondering because I need to do this for my boat.

    • @mvboutdoors
      @mvboutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes that's correct, if you countersink the holes and use pan head screws you can bury them in the carpet pretty well

      @@mvboutdoors Wow, thank you for the quick response. One more question if I may ask? Is the plywood I need to use 1/2" CDX plywood? P.S. Great videos

      @bzman6092 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mvboutdoors I think I may have mis-stated something. I figured I would have to glue the carpet to the plywood before installation to wrap it around the corners of the plywood for a good look which means I would have to screw through the top of the carpet in order to fasten it to the boat. I would imagine if I screwed the plywood down first, I will not be able to terminate the outside edges of the carpet properly?

    • @mvboutdoors
      @mvboutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@bzman6092 Yes you will want to glue/wrap the carpet prior to installation, the screws will be on the outside of the carpet but you can predrill your holes first so they sink down low into the carpet when you install them and wont be as visible.

    If you staple through the epoxy or have to screw through the wood to install the panel doesn’t it allow an area for water to penetrate through the epoxy seal and defeat the purpose?

    • @mvboutdoors
      @mvboutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว

      The main purpose is to seal all of the wood not just the attachment points. With the carpet, I'm using waterproof/outdoor carpet glue which helps with filling the staple/screw holes.

    Now that you enjoyed the boat, would you have put the floor down after the sides just in case you have to take the floor up?

    • @mvboutdoors
      @mvboutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      With everything being installed on top of the floor, (side console, seating, etc) the side panels really aren't a concern. If I need to pull the floor up there's a lot that would need to come out before the sides, they are only a few screws and they're out.

    would adding foam board to the side walls help with lateral stability?

    • @mvboutdoors
      @mvboutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว

      It would need to be added to the outside of the boat for that to work.

    • @mvboutdoors

    How do you bolt the carpeted panels to the bolt without seeing the bolts?

    • @mvboutdoors
      @mvboutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว

      They are screwed into the ribs, I predrilled holes before carpeting to give myself some guides but ended up using a flash light to look behind the panel as I was screwing/drilling to make sure I was making contact with the rib.
