In case of my mother she also refuses food, she has psychiatric disease. Due to high dosages of medications she cant swallow, it looks like no reflexes in mouth or strenght/will for chewing. If that was "1,2, 3 - swallow" that would be great but with her it is strugle for every spoon... i lose patience a lot with that and it drains me Anyways i will try to massage cheeks, stimulate adams bone, and switch more frequently between food and liquid Thanks a lot
My husband cannot swallow because it goes down the wrong way into the lungs and he aspirates and gets pneumonia. He has a feeding tube in stomach and has a formula and water only. Speech therapist is working with him and neurologist.

I would like to know what therapy your speech therapist is doing. My Baby had a stroke. I trust what my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ said by His stripes we are HEALED!!!!.
@@arulelisa Blend food in a mixer if he can't chew. If he can't eat at all then surgically doctors will do the procedure so that you can directly inject food into his stomach. But first thing first.....Blend food in a mixer with a little water so he can drink it. Nutrition value doesn't change don't worry. I was feeding my late Mother like that for 3 years..
@@zexxx011 no, he is not like that he is chewing the food but not swallowing it , he keeping the food in the mouth , even with water or any other liquid food as well
@@arulelisa in that case you have to contact speech therapist (oratio clinicus in latin ). They have a crucial role in determing how and in which way people with dementia can eat and swallow, believe it or not.

try Chin tuck technique, it's the recommended for the people with swallow problem. search it on youtube.
