“The way the hawk tuwa girl is idolized”? Lmao, everybody I know thinks that meme is annoying. I’ve only seen a handful of conservatives backing her for some anti pride month reason I already forgot.
@@AnthonyNelms-nh8ko I don't get it either. Most artist have one "I shit on the competition" bar in their career. She has a whole album of that and I don't get it. Why would someone willingly call themselves Ms. Poopy?

Hi skye, will you be reviewing the Moor Mother album- The great bailout? AOTY for me and has recently had a deluxe version, it’s all about british slavery and the racist past of the UK
AVAA but I’m not a fan of the analogy you made between TikTok and the development of recorded music. I believe much of the concern with TikTok is not so much the way it transmits music but _how it is coming to influence the structure of certain songs._ It’s not uncommon now for an artist to put out a song with only a chorus, or one that is less than two minutes long, just technically not committing to developing the song simply because they understand that all they need now is the “zinger” moment that everyone will use in their videos. Recorded music didn’t really put that kind of constraint on artists unless we count like 7” singles (and even then that didn’t stop the artists from taking advantage of creative solutions like the LP album format, later CDs, then virtually endless pieces of music a la Bull of Heaven that came about with the shift to streaming)
Avaa I’ve been watching you since your videos on 12 stout st and American tteroristt, and I just wanted to remind you that its a top fav of all time. I have been thinking about those vids a ton lately, and I thank you for what you do, I wish I could have you as a prof irl.
9:44 Regarding Rap nepotism, Flying Lotus is related to John & Alice Coltrane and has a grandmother who wrote 'Love Hangover' for Diana Ross; one of the great replay value songs of the 1970s. And yet to argue Flying Lotus wasn't insanely talented would be insane. Just listen to 'Never Catch Me' with Kendrick Lamar and the whole 'You're Dead!' album.
AVAA, prof. The whole convo of Ice Spice getting her 16th minute is really a great POV that i didn't even peep. In fact if Ice Spice maneuvers diligent in the rap game, we may in the midst of a great run.
You should keep your eyes on Doechii, she's an up cand coming solid rapper from TDE. Ice Spice talked sh*t about her in the leaked messages her ex bff shared.
she doesn’t have a full record yet but you should check out Scarlip she is a bronx rapper who i really think it’s fantastic she’s around ice spice’s age and just really fantastic (i also like ice spice and love the review)
A lot of concessions needed to bring out the pros in this project. You're better than me. Even by today's standards I find it hard to believe this is worth even the 23 minutes.
I would appreciate if she did collab with more well known Uk drill producers like Ghosty Chris rich or M1ontheonthebeat, I think it would help her evolve faster Also with the jersey club elements it would of been kl if she ft 41 to put a shine on New York and compliment her style differently Overall project was mid
You seem to like to cover new drops. But ik you also like to see touch into what the black youth is listening to. If that’s true, Rod wave is a rapper/singer I think you would be very interested in reviewing. “African Americans’ depressive occurrences are more disabling, persistent and resistant to treatment than those experienced by whites,” according to the National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities. Depression affects more than 17 million Americans each year and makes matters worse for Black men. Mental health is something that affects many people, but the discussion around mental health especially in the Black community is limited. Whether it’s intentional or not Wave is starting up conversations around mental health in the Black community. #Video10AskingForRodWave
I gotta say, I'm starting to feel disappointed by the theme of ageism happening in the videos. No, Childish Gambino isn't "old man cringe" for referencing his kid. You're not an old man talking about Ice Spice. No, there isn't a lower artistic bar to clear because somebody is younger in age. Many great hip hop artists were great when young, too. Grading on a curve out of obligation for being older than the artist isn't providing an authentic grade. This is certainly true if one has recently been much more quick to examine, belittle, and critique other artists much more closely solely based on THEIR ages.
I don't think Ice Spice is particularly skilled or talented nor do I find her enjoyable. That being said she is the best thing any mainstream artist can be which is avoidable, any artist they don't play in every grocery store is ok in my book. Ice Spice should have as long and successful a career as she wants and can maintain; I don't want her to go away I just don't want to listen.
avaa. random recommendation: you should check out Bookends by Simon & Garfunkel. it has a good 7 song stretch portraying different points in people’s lives. it’s not as chronological in the remaining 5 songs but some of the themes definitely carry over. maybe your daughter could appreciate the song about the zoo.
Thats a helluva thumbmail
I live for it tbh
Skye showing off his body for the clickbait 😔 algorithm save me
Skye can get that bag, times are tough, he got mouths to feed!
"ice spice is a hawk tuah like figure"
😭 off the za ts had me dead
Your analysis is longer than her actual album. 😂😂😂
The upgraded thumbnail game is everything I needed
Noo where's the original thumbnail 😭
You’re being very generous with these critiques.
Looks like Skye is about to give us a “freestyle” in the thumbnail
edit* thumbnail has been changed so my joke doesn’t make sense anymore

Idk I Like BKTHERULA.
Best thumbnail 😂
The idea of copying the cover art is super fun - The childish gambino one was sweet but nothing could have prepared me for this 😭
“The way the hawk tuwa girl is idolized”? Lmao, everybody I know thinks that meme is annoying. I’ve only seen a handful of conservatives backing her for some anti pride month reason I already forgot.
The hawk tuah thing seems to be a white ppl only type of meme. Nobody else cares about it, not in my little bubble at least
You're going to make me listen to this album and that's something I'm not proud of, lol.
This record was disappointing
Spoiler alert: Its not the shit. It ain't even a fart.
Wtf is with all the poop and fart references in club music? We went from shaking ass to smelling it. Jesus

man it really frustrates me we're sitting here talking about this trash when mustard just dropped one of the best albums of the year.
Ok but ketchup is better

The thumbnail, though. Professor Skye, you need to chill.
I respect that Ice Spice knows exactly what her lane is and enjoys staying in it with a sense of humor. Art can be light and fun!
That thumbnail cracked me up 😂😂 AVAA.
Brian Eno did an ocean of sound in a five second piece so the whole discussion on ultra short music pieces is meaningless. Also - grindcore exists.
Why don’t you upload all your videos as audio clips onto Spotify and make it a podcast ?
AVAA !
AVAA - Love the thumbnail experimentation

I just it's funny that if he was alive today Mozart would've been the biggest Ice Spice stan😂
great analysis as always!! AVAA

I didn't excpet to like this album but I was pleasantly surprised, it's short and fun and there's not just one flow and generic beats
i don’t think you were listening to y2k then
@@hitsdif99 multiple flows ✅️
Unique beats ✅️
Ice Spice and Riot have their own sound
People give too much shit to this album for it being short but the first 4 beach boys albums are all under 30 minutes
Best thumbnail
Jiat....lol
Its gyatt like gyatt dayumm
Her album isnt TERRIBLE... her producer Ryan is.
Nah, but thanks for the class

Album is trash, can't rationalize it. I gave her a fair chance too.
MC 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
“ice spice is the top 5 rappers” *immediately discredited any thoughts OMG YOU HAVE TO BE JOKING! pls listen to more women rappers.
This album is terrible
Nah. She was set up to fail. She had her 15mins of fame. She lost her butt and that’s what made her famous.
