  • Welcome to the Metal Detecting NYC channel. Minelab puzzled many with the release of the XTerra Pro. Now it makes sense, they are aiming to take the market for the Nokta Makro Simplex. Now it seems to be a brilliant move. The XTerra Pro has adjustable frequencies at 5kHZ, 10kHz, 15kHz and 8kHz for the beach while the three new Simplex models operate at 15kHz. Let's discuss it! Stay tuned!

@Kody Brown youtubers are the worst offenders at doing what they accuse everyone else of. They are just shills for their favorite brands. Which would be fine if they were just honest about that. But they hardly ever are. Hunter GT and Iffy Signals, and paystreak are 3 of the best at just giving their honest opinions and not bashing others. Your correct though, and it's also why I appreciate nokta and Dilek so much, when it comes to their customers, they really are the best. Everything they do is based on our wants and feedback and they can do that while still making the money they need to make. That is a wonderful thing.

I started on a single frequency Bounty Hunter. It taught me all the basics , was inexpensive , super light and worked surprisingly good in parks and dry ocean sand. Got to know it pretty good after a couple years. Finally upgraded to multi frequency but I still like to break out the BH once in awhile for it's simplicity.

This goes for all companies. If you have to bad mouth your competitors it shows you are intimidated by them. It can come off to some people as sour grapes. If you have a great product let it do the talking.
The above also applies to companies acting in an anticompetitive way.
A bold prediction but I think Minelab have checkmated Nokta's Simplex range with the Xterra Pro this time around.
    Good luck to both.

I won't be giving up my 800 any time soon but I do like the Legend so far! I got a gold ring the first time out with the Legend so there is that. I confess that my initial impression of the Minelab XTerra Pro was a bit negative but I erroneously assumed that it was going to have an MSRP of +$500. At $269, this is a game changer. Early tests being published online by the usual testers are providing evidence of a really interesting and extremely capable player in the marketplace and at the price point of $269 making it the best machine currently available at the sub $500 price point. Mea culpa. This device is a real threat to the Domestic Metal Detector Manufacturers. How will they respond in light of a machine that is already a threat to their niche in the marketplace.

The addition of the XTerra Pro to Minelabs stable is a Simplex killer ONLY if you don't have a Simplex. I personally have one and a Vanquish 440. Just got the Simplex 3 days ago used for $175. Person tried it 3x and couldn't or wouldn't get the hang of it. I'm from the OLD school of single frequency heavy machines that WERE finely tuned. Everything from starting with a threshold to ground balance to All metal or VLF TR Discriminate. I wanted the Simplex because I felt it was a combo of old school Khz with newer technology for easier and better Silver (Häagen-Dazs). The Xterra Pro does the same thing and I would probably get one too, if not for me, but one of my kids.

Awesome video and break down!! I had a Equinox 800 for over a year and found myself finding it more stable in urban detecting when running a single, low frequency and stopped using the multi frequency pretty quick. Then i got my hands on a Simplex for a while and wasn't thinking it would do well but was highly surprised by its equal performance to the Simplex in my areas and and a third of the price!! I've used both brands for a while and many different machines from both and find myself going to buy another Simplex after selling my Equinox 800. Not so much "everything found", but I agree the metal detector wars arms race and more and more detectors being released coupled with the fact fewer people carry coins or wear valuable jewelry, we are about to reach a tipping point. A good segment of people detecting only look for modern coins and jewelry, and that segment is dwindling dwindling fast. Certainly the multi-simultaneous machines are better. The switchable still better than the single freq. alone. Point being, they all work. You can use and enjoy any of them. The rest of the hype and arguing is just to get into wallet before the other guy does. Consumer only needs to know what machine(s) do they need for style of detecting. Representatives bad mouthing other manufactures is sounding more like sour grapes than product comparison. Just my two cents. Example would be I'm on the fence with Manticore because of maybe?it has short lifespan,,in 5 years will this machine still be operable, at that price tag I would want to enjoyable for at least 20 years like many cheap detectors last. Garrett's and Fishers have very long shelf lives,,I think that's their edge in the market,,it's in my equation at least, they can pay for themselves ten times over,,better hope you're $1,800 detector can before warranty expires.

Several times I wanted to go for a walk in nature with my friends and take the detector with me. So it's about hiking. My detector just doesn't fit in any bag, and I haven't found any online that supports it. Therefore, I would like to ask you to make a video of how you pack the Equinox in a bag or recommend a bag from the market (if it is not bigger than an average child) ? Thanks a lot ✌️

This is why i still rave and use my old Tesoro's and haven't had the motivation to sell them. Both my nox and etrac are great machines, but multiple frequency detectors are still in their infancy and need a lot more work. There are a lot of old single frequency detectors out there that go really deep and have very reasonable seperation capabilities. I think Nokta knows this dirty little secret and they are taking advantage and cashing in on it why they can. On another note, their detectors bear a strong resemblance to the nox series, so i can see why there might be a lawsuit.

This XTerra Pro has got my attention these 3 Simplex Line up well not so much. But the Simplex is a good Machine if you can last for more then an hour before getting a headache from the tones.(sorry My opinion but It did cause me Headaches) The Legend from what I see is doing very well. But I myself will not spend 700 Dollars on another detector for awhile. As So far all the releases of new detectors coming in the market. After using the D2 for over a year now, I dare to say that FMF isn't the gamechanger they like us to believe. More and more I tend to use a single frequency at around 15 to 25 kHz. I feel that when using a single frequency the audio talks better to me, and the machine is more on point.
I don't search saltwater beaches so no really need for simultanious multi frequency. Nevertheless I love my D2! 👍 It is my 4th machine in 13 years of detecting.

I've had a simplex+ since December of2022 at what you said as a starter metal detector and have great success with it I've even dug up relics and coins up to 16 inches deep
It's all in the mind of the person who decides on what he or she can afford and what they like. So as far as I'm concerned it's an individual of what he oe she likes
I've found a 1919 mercury dime and a 1939 walking liberty half dollar all of which have been on my bucket list. So wouldn't it be up to who wants to metal detect I mean it's only my opinion but I'll will be with what I purchased. Still getting use to what it has to offer but as for now it's a simplex. I also use the sp24 coil which I think ithe better coil. No offense but that's just my 2 cents worth until I can believe there's something better. Love your input keep it up.

English is not her first language so I think she does really well with her speech putting valued points across. Personally it's good for competition and bringing the prices down will bring many more people into the detecting arena. I miss the coloured frequency bars and patterns on the V3i. Wouldn't it be great if more colour and info showing which freq is hitting the target better. I loved that. I had 50 white gold Celtic coins out of a trashy iron infested area this was with 3 diff sizes of military shells every where too. I cherry picked all these staters just by the frequency coloured bars. This would be great if added to new detectors. Looking forward to the Simplex ultra and how it fairs against the legend. Happy hunting guys

I run the Legend single freq 50% of the time. Multi-freq wasn't the "game changer" that Minelab was always going on about. Quite often multi-freq isn't usable and I'll add that 15Khz is usually the clearest. This is why I'm not going to upgrade my Deus to the Deus II. The Deus still amazes me on many levels so why trade that for a buggy Deus II that still has problems? All of this hubbub is great for the competition which means this hobby might enter into another golden age for us users.
