    I have an xterra pro as a backup. If you hunt in all metal mode and all tones is a great machine and does very well. Listen to the tones, don't watch the numbers. I used it at an old homesite loaded with nails and it did a great job picking out relics in the iron.

      And just lower the Sensitivity down below 20 and the jumpy VDI is only present for when you get to a Junk Target Signal and I have the All Metal Mode On and now the iron grunts will actually help.... and I have my X-Terra Pro set at 12 Sensitivity and then the jumpy VDI is so beneficial to determine the targets is good or JUNK......

    I’m looking to buy a White’s Surfmaster PI… I watched a guy pull a ton of targets I couldn’t hear with my Equinox 900 off a beach I just hit. Those PI machines handle the black sands like a champ.

    Thank you 🙏 for keeping us in touch with the latest in detectors and cutting thru the hype. I love your channel. I have the first gen Simplex Plus and thought when I earned it, the Legend was my next move. Now Nokta & the X-Terra Pro have muddied the waters. My concern with the X-Terra Pro is Minelab’s previous issues with leaks & broken coil mount ears. I don’t believe Nokta has had such issues. I’ll be checking out your X-Terra Pro review. Dave in PA

      Well if Merrill can lower the Sensitivity down below Full Sensitivity and he will not loose any depth that I have noticed when I'm using the X-Terra Pro and the lower sensitivity the X-Terra Pro can process the info that it's getting better when it's not that far from full sensitivity and I have mine set at 12 Sensitivity and I have been digging up ALOT of 6 inch range targets but I'm not in a good Area of Old Coins Yet but it's a good practice to know what the X-Terra Pro is capable of telling me about the target and then the lower sensitivity is still capable to get the targets...... and I also had the Simplex + original and it would find the Targets but instead I got tired of hearing the Duck Squawk Tone's and They are still present in the New Simplex Lineup and the Quarter Tone Targets that are actually a Iron Target that has the same exact number and Tone of the quarter and the ALL Metal Mode was a 5 button push from Park 1 and then it's a Single Tone and Program And the X-Terra Pro is a 1 Button Push to use it and I can have the ALL Tone's setup and I don't have to Stop swinging just to turn it on and off and then you can look at the Notka Macro Detector's lineup and it's still a separate program and X-Terra Pro is more User Friendly Detector and Everything Else that is Minelab and I should of been looking at Minelab Many years ago but when Garrett Detector's where on every TV show back when I was growing up and that's what you bought and grew up with but after I had the X-Terra Pro and A Equinox 600 in my Hands and the Simplex + , and a Number of Garret's and one is the GTI 2500 I prefer the X-Terra Pro and I would love to have a Spare and the only thing that is a little problem with the X-Terra Pro is No Headphones for it yet and if you have time to go look at Notka Macro Website and They have already Discontinued the Simplex + as of 2021..... and The No MORE Updates for it to help with the Simplex EMI Problem's that I have encountered......

    I have a Legend and a 700 and my beach experiences have been pretty much that they are similar in what they pick up and depths, though the Legend has not had as much noise chatter in higher sensitivity than the 700. Each one has its quirks and practice is the best teacher.

    Thanks Merrill. I bought an X-Terra Pro a couple of weeks.
    The numbers were all over rhe place. For me and in the videos i watched.
    People say ignore them, just use tones.
    Or cut your sensitivity in half. I know numbers aren't everything but they ought to be in the ballpark, not ranging from the 30s to 80s on one target.
    Took it back to my dealer and swapped it for a Nokta Score.
    Time will tell but you were spot on when you compared it to a Vanquish for simplicity.

    Interesting video Merrill. Still waiting on that "true and honest" depth comparison against the Xterra pro as I've seen a ton of test that are not done correctly, obvious bias! i.e. there ground balancing over obvious metal. Was thinking on getting the new Simplex but not sure I can handle that annoying high pitch squawk 😂 so I can do some of my own testing... please save me some money! 😉
    PS that Nokta pinpointer does sounds interesting! $?

    Sometimes I really really wonder if minelab snuck in some sort of proprietary multi frequency thing on the xterra pro. Having used one (also in myrtle beach) I was shocked at how quiet that machine was in the Salt water. Obviously minelab claims it's single frequency but I really question its legitimacy sometimes.

    Love your videos. I actually find all my rings and jewelry in lakes. The best part about lake detecting is that whomever drops a ring, it stays in that same area and makes it so easy to find gold! I have a Garrett AT MAX and recently bought a Equinox 700. I'll be mainly using the 700 for the beaches as my Garrett chatters like crazy due to the minerals in the ocean sand.

    I've been using an exterra pro since March. This is by far the best detector I've owned, although the last one i owned was a Fisher 1266X but it cost over $400 back in the early 90's. They got i hunt with has an equinox 600 and i can hunt anywhere he can and find just as much if not more sometimes. It has some things to get used to like the bottle caps or the vdi jumping but 90% of the time i can tell the difference between copper pennies, clad dimes, silver dimes, clad quarters and silver quarters by the vdi and tone. It's pretty stable in 5khz when it hits a silver coin. I've found my best finds ever since March with the Xterra pro it's been a game changer for me.

    • @carolrice2063
      @carolrice2063 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      And what is your sensitivity settings for the X-Terra Pro ??? Well I have mine set at 12 Sensitivity and the jumpy VDI is only present for the junk Targets Aluminum Foil Top's and Iron Target's and I also have the All Metal Mode On ( Horseshoe Button) and the Bottle Caps still sound good but I'm not Diggin Up any more of them, because I can hear the Iron Grunts now when I drag the Coil off the edge of the Target Signal and The using the of the All Metal Mode is just like Super WoW 😲 of the New Knowledge that the X-Terra Pro is telling me about the target and the lower sensitivity is the key to get there......

    • @stephencurry599

      @@stephencurry599 And 21- 25 Full Sensitivity but do try 20 and see if it works and try the All Metal Mode on the X-Terra Pro and See what it does with the bottle caps and it's not a Single Tone like it is on the Simplex + but I have been using the All Tone's and I still have them on the all metal mode and the X-Terra Pro is a totally Great Detector and like you said that it's a Game Changer Detector for Sure..... Edit: and I haven't checked yet on the 5 MHz , but mainly i have been using the 15 MHz and Park 1 and Minus ➖ 4 iron Bias but each areas are totally different than the ground that I have detected and the only thing that is a problem with the X-Terra Pro is not having any headphones 🎧 being sold with it and the Iron volume is needed to be higher than 25 but If they have headphones then the iron volume is fine but it's a Very Decent Detector for the lower price.....

    I knew I would get you looking at it more I wouldn’t 💩 ya Merrill you are one of my favorite channels . That machine will find everything that the Equinox 600-800 does on a beach , are the numbers bouncy ? Yes , but are they bouncy on Round good targets ? No they are not I call it high resolution detecting , once you get over the way you get numbers from the equinox and just focus on tones that machine is way better than the old Series equinox, having said that , my 600 is still my main beach machine because I like how gold ranges on it better mostly because I’m just used to it more and I have 1 year of warranty left so as Ask Jeff Williams says “ Yeah it’s gonna get wet !”

    This year, 2 new detectors from golden mask hf 1000 in single coil and double coil versions are yet to arrive on the market. Hello Merrill , first of all I have to say that I like your videos. Can I get your take on the following ?
    I live in the Netherlands and I have been searching since 1991 . I have had only Whites detectors .The last two were the Eagle Spectrum and XLT. I didn't do any searching for the last 10 years but I want to start again now and then ( not so much as in the '90s ) . I noticed that Whites is gone and a lot of new detectors are out there. My XLT screen shows lines and I can't find any replacement on the internet. I can buy a second hand DFX for €400 but would this be a good choice because of the choices in newer detectors.... What could be better ? My budget is around €600 . I can spend more but I know that I am not going to use the detector that much. Maybe I will be searching on the beach for a change ( the XLT wasn't that stable on the beach ) but most of all I will be in parks / Forrest. What's your recommendation ?
    Greetings
    Aart

    • @carolrice2063
      @carolrice2063 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I know the X-Terra Pro is just like having a Top End Detector for the lower price and also ALOT of people are trying to Kill it By having the Sensitivity on Full Sensitivity without expecting any kind of ground Feedback ( Jumpy VDI) and Not Many Permissions that you can get the full sensitivity on and I have mine set at 12 Sensitivity and If I really need to go Super Deep Targets then I will go to 18 and nothing higher than that and you will have about all the Targets that you can Dig Up and I will have it on 18 and only that high if I know that it's going to be Raining in the next day and that way when the rain comes it will help out with the plugs and get the loose dirt back to the ground and then after the rain comes the targets will really sound off and the lower sensitivity is the key to get the X-Terra Pro to really work for me and I prefer the X-Terra Pro over the Equinox 600 but To be fair the equinox is needed to be updated and it was never updated since it was a New Detector....... and I'm The Third owner of the Equinox.....

    What I would like to see is all these detectors used on the same target before digging the target to see if they all get the same reading on that target. No one has done this yet. Why? because of marketing! I think they will all see the same thing.

    • @MrBottlecapBill
      @MrBottlecapBill 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      There's plenty of comparison tests online. Much like you said........most of them hit most targets well enough. You might get some minor depth or id or unmasking advantage using stock coils from the more expensive machines but if you want better depth or id it's cheaper to buy a few more coils than a whole new machine.......usually. Problem solved in most cases. That's why the Legend already has a number one ranking by Mer. It has basically everything you need to hunt almost anywhere you need to, so long as you're willing to learn and not be so picky. Same with the nox lineup. Heck even the D2 has the lite version which is pretty cheap now........just useless in the water without upgrades.

    @stevewilson4071 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    From a marketing standpoint I'm not really sure where this score detector is going to fit in their lineup. There's already very little room between the simplex ultra and the legend right now and now you want to squeeze another one right in between there? Why? People that buy the score were thinking about either the simplex or the legend and now you're going to be pulling sales from them to buy the score. I think they're diluting their lineup too much unless this detector has something special attached to it that's going to make me want to buy it over the ultra or the legend.

      After thinking about it, I was thinking what would make me buy this detector at that price point. And I thought if it had the e-trac's ferrous and conductive vdi scores combined with the lightweight of the new ultra it would have my attention. Nokta, are you listening?

    Hey man....love the B&B clips 😆
    And just a footnote. The Fisher CZ-6 of 1991 ran 5khz and 15khz and for many years was the top beach detector. From memory not simultaneous. 1991 was also the Minelab Sovereign BBS multi frequency (used All Tones).

      I have the Fisher CZ5 which is 30 years old. I took it out recently from out of the closet and searched in an area which I went over with the Vanquish 540. It found DEEP coins that the Vanquish missed.

Wading through the rock concert guitar whining, and messrs. beavis and butt head was loud and tedious. i will have to get to the salient details for these new detectors somewhere else. And if everyone else that you know will just lower the Sensitivity down below 20 and then the X-Terra Pro jumpy VDI will Somewhat Stabilize and then when they get on a junk signal target and then the jumpy VDI is letting me know that it's a JUNK Target And just keep Walking On and then when you get to a Coin target it will really come alive and I have set mine at 12 Sensitivity and I only go as high as 18 Sensitivity. if I really want to keep digging deeper and I don't know of any kind of detector Ever made that can get the Full Sensitivity without any kind of ground Feedback ( Jumpy VDI) and the lower sensitivity will help out with it.....

AND I'M NOT HAVING ANY KIND OF PROBLEM WITH THE XTERRA PRO INSTEAD IT'S A SUCCESSFUL DETECTOR JUMPY VDI FEATURES THAT IS INCREDIBLE ❤️❤️❤️........

    the x-terra can't go over 18.75khz. This limits its recovery of small jewelry and gold that shows up better at 40-80kHz, and will get detected by SMF. I can't help thinking that mickey mouse earring that was recovered with the x-terra was accidental, as there was still a signal when you passed the coil over the hole.
