These older Maytag washers were the best, I wish I still had mine instead of selling it with the house!!! BTW Peter I use to use a half of a spring clothespin to keep my machine running with the lid up and it worked great!!! Thanks for the video and have a great night...
Hi Robert, would you believe that I don't have one clothespin in this house? I'm gonna have to ask somebody. if they actually still have a clothespin. By the way, Robert, my Maytag was my favorite Washer. I had with my mother years ago. Same color.
I use a piece of 14 gauge wire with alligator clips on each end. I have it clipped to each terminal on the lid switch so I can run my Maytag with the lid up all the time but it doesn't hurt the machine and all I have to do is unclip the wire and it's back to factory again.
Good work ! A Maytag powerfin can handle that no problem. Nothing fancy about these machines but good solid engineering and aesthetically pleasing looking.
You Should Be Able To Get To The Lid Switch By Removing The Rear Cover Of The Control Panel, Once You Locate The Switch Take Some Black Tape And Wrap It Around The Switch To Keep Button Pushed In
Look at that Maytag. It's too beautiful 😊

Hi Pat, I was amazed at how well it did. I know that was a heavy load for that machine.

Thanks for the info. I got to try something.
It still doing a good job
Could you imagine at that age and still running perfectly?
An HE top load washer would do half that load, and you'd have to wash them twice.
Lol I think your right. Don't forget, they even have giant tubs and still can't wash anything.
