I used to be a consultant and one of the rules you’re supposed to agree to is not to keep a stock. So everyone doing it is actually violating their contract with Scentsy.
I used to sell Scentsy, but I literally signed up just so I could get the "discount" of earning a percentage back, since I love wax melts & candles. But I never saw it as an income, just a discount. I quit because I couldnt stand my upline demanding me to recruit ppl anymore. I was like "thats not why I signed up lol"
I signed up for the same reason and have never had one person tell me to sell or recruit. I'm an attorney. I made it clear I already have a career and not looking for another one. I just take my own discount and that's that, and the 25% discount is worth it. 5 years, never have sold to anyone but myself.
Same,, the up lines are relentless and i had to resort to blocking them from calling and texting me.. I only did it for the discount not to get harassed by them.
@@betsybabf748That feels like such a clear example of MLMs' classism to me. Not anything you said or what you're doing, but the fact that you have a lucrative and well respected career means they know they can't take advantage of you. MLMs prey on low-income, less educated women and take advantage of class disparity. I'm glad they're not harassing you, but the fact that they've left you alone for five years just goes to show that they know what they're doing in terms of choosing their victims
@@user-rz9rq7pp2b I know others who are stay at home moms who have the same situation. Difference is being firm, laying your boundaries down, not cowering like a pushover or playing victim and owning one's situation and life.
These job titles are YIKES! Imagine someone asks about your role and you say you were recently promoted to Superstar Director. Sounds like a job in the Barbie movie.
Navy wife here! Thank you for shouting out how predatory MLMs are to military spouses! It is awful… and makes trying to make new friends when you move even harder
Same! I’m a military wife and I’ve had so many try to recruit me. I’m a working RN. If I want extra, I’ll get a PRN job with guaranteed income. I’ll stick with what I’m doing.
Every mlm video i watch, reminds me of how two of my aunts were part of the 1% of one mlm. Like they won the trips, the cars, the extra prizes, one even used to win the trip TWICE, so she took her son with her. My two aunts traveled all around the world in MLMs. I can imagine the magnitude of their dowlines.
@@krisb8569my aunts did that too, they moved from one mlm to another the same week it came to the country, most of their close friends worked there too and made bank. I wonder how many didn't.
All the Huns are victims. The ones making money are completely delusional about their role as the villain in the whole scam. It’s a literal commercial cult. I don’t think the Huns at the top are inherently predatory, I think they’re just DEEPLY indoctrinated. If they do start to become disillusioned, they are dependent upon their income, and sunk cost fallacy, along with cognitive dissonance will keep them where they are. The predators are the creators and owners of the MLMs.
I grew up with a friend whose mom did Mary Kay. She had the infamous pink car, and yet they were STILL struggling financially. So unfortunate. The thing I find the saddest is that the veneer of success tricked her daughters into thinking there might be a future in MLMs. We're not in touch anymore, but I'm pretty sure they both learned their lesson the hard way
@@user-rz9rq7pp2b Maybe the mlm my aunts were in wasn't that horrible. They didn't struggle financially. Actually, once they couldn't keep going with the MLM, they did start to struggle.
My mom’s coworker tried to convince her that scentsy wax warmers and melts were some kind of cool, innovative thing. When my mom pointed out that she’s been getting wax cubes from Walmart for years, the lady insisted that hers were somehow different and wayyy better. Like babe, it’s scented wax wym 😭
To be fair the formula Walmart uses isn’t nearly as good as the Scentsy formula they use to make wax. I’m not a Scentsy consultant by any means but there is a huge difference in the way both companies make their wax and I personally can’t stand Walmart. The wax is way to thick and hard which makes it difficult to warm it and have it turn to liquid which doesn’t allow the scent oils to release in the air
@@Toretto_the_pupI was going to say the same thing,, the Walmart ones are not great , the formula is not the greatest , but its fine enough for those who just want a bit of “smell in their home”.
I literally have compared Walmart wax melts to Scentsy. The Scentsy ones have no smell and the Walmart ones are various brands that really are superior to Scentsy. Scentsy had to go to making their warmers all fancy to get somewhat ahead of all the brands Walmart sells. And funny, all those brands make their own unique warmers that are cheaper and cuter than Scentsy. I’m waiting for better homes and gardens and yankee candle to run Scentsy out of business. Or for Scentsy to give up the MLM model and start selling in stores.
While we were stationed in Germany people use to literally fight over limited edition warmers and scents from scentsy, our tiny base was overran by scentsy and lularoe, people use to fight for the leggings too 😂
I am a candle and wax melt maker. It would be so wonderful if instead of turning to Scentsy people would reach out to small hand crafted candle companies. Not only do you get high quality products but you actually help a true small businesses
Yes, that would be really great, but let's be realistic, it's not going to happen in the near future. Prices for small business goods are usually higher than in the mass market, so not everyone can afford it. Some people just want cutesy things cheaper. I'm not saying that small businesses put prices on their products incorrectly, but they just can't get by as cheaply as some large companies without losses.
im gonna be real girl, its so cathartic to watch your videos on these mlms. pretty much all the women in my family have been victims of mlms and ive had multiple girls i knew in high school reach out to me as an adult trying to sell me mlm products. seeing someone talk about them so openly and thoroughly is so so so comforting!
So glad you’re discussing Scentsy. I’m from a small town where MLMs are everywhere and as a child, I would cuddle with Scentsy’s stuffed animals, specifically the lamb. But I do remember my mom removing the scent from them.
I feel like Scentsy and other MLMs like Pamper Chef or Mary Kay actually ~care~ more about selling products so they feel a smidge less scammy to me. Also, a lot of their products are pretty good too! I grew up around a lot of these products and they lasted forever. My mom still has kitchen utensils that she bought when I was a kid. I had a handful of family members around me growing up that were in MLMs and just did it on the side. They never thought they’d make Mary Kay their full time gig. I feel like there has been a HUGE push to be a girl boss and entrepreneur so recruiting is more important for new MLMs like Monat. Maybe social media has also added to this too?? I don’t know. Just blabbing 😂 Great video as always! Love watching you.
My understanding is that Mary Kay and pamper chef started as door to door sales companies (legit not scammy kind) and, at least Mary Kay, has moved to an MLM format.
Most of the MLMs that had good quality products have gone WAY down in quality. My mum used to buy pampered chef when I was real young (late 90s early 2000s) and we still have a can opener, a couple spatulas, and a slap chopper from back then that are nice. My mum and I went to a bridal show back in 2016 before she got remarried tho and they had a booth. Their stuff is not nearly as sturdy and nice as it was 10-15 years ago sadly
My bonus aunt also sold scentsy years ago, and my mum would buy from her occasionally. It was nice stuff. But in recent years the scents fade so quickly, the quality just isn't there anymore
@@witchyemofurbs8623I went to a Pampered Chef party about 12 yrs ago and felt obligated to buy, so I got one of those ground meat chopper things when you brown it, and a set of 3 breading bowl things. The meat thing is now popular everywhere now for WAY cheaper and I hated mine. It does not work for ground d beef- spatial way better, BUT when my hubby spotted it in the trash, he dug it out and suggested it may work for a mashed potatoes. YES!! To this day, it is my potato masher. I throw my actual masher away. lol the breading bowls were naturally overpriced plastic, but I do use them all the time. I’m done going to parties and I’m done guilt buying. I even lost a friend because of Scentsy. Or my honesty. 😆
Here in Australia, Scentsy is HUGE. A girl I went to high school with got a “free” trip to Disneyland.. they just had to foot the bill of the flights. Let’s just say it ain’t cheap or quick to get from Australia to the US 🙃 I also work in Aged care and they are such huge targets for this stuff I hate it.
Just a suggestion - I started making my own wax melts with my used candles! Once it gets down to the bottom where the wick is gone and it won’t burn, i put the whole candle in a pot and bring it to a boil, once the wax is melted I pour it into a silicone ice cube tray. It sets in about an hour and then it’s ready to go into the warmer. I also do the same thing with damaged candles that have sat in a car or something and the wick is stuck underneath all the wax, I usually get ones like that from yard sales or thrift stores for super cheap :)
I'm so glad you covered them. Scentsy hits a sore spot with me. A year or so ago, a local counseling agency that I make referrals to posted something about how a scentsy rep was doing a fundraiser for them. I got so infuriated that a rep tried to take advantage of a counseling agency (that primarily accepts Medicaid clients). I was able to calmly explain to the local agency and they thanked me for the info, but im still so mad.
Ooooo thank you for covering Scentsy! I'm in the UK so Scentsy is probably the most prevalent MLM at the moment where I live, but I don't really see it talked about very much
My mom uses scentsy buying stuff for herself and selling to friends and family. She blocked their email or whatever so they can't bug her about adding more people. She said 'What're they gonna do fire me?' lol
I joined last year have zero pressure from anyone & if I did i wouldn't put up with it. I joined for myself & sell to my coworkers. I dont have family like that to have parties etc. I haven't had 1 party & doing just fine without stock piling products. So it truly is all about the person.
So strong! The former renter who lived in my house had a scentsy order delivered after they’d moved. I reached out to ask them to pick it up. While waiting for them to do so, I had to keep moving the unopened box because it stunk up my house, my car (it was in the trunk!) and ended up in my detached garage. They never came to get it.
had a teacher (not part of the mlm just a customer) with a scentsy wax melter in her classroom and even she knew it could be bad, she asked everyone at least once a week to tell her if she should turn it off
My mother got given a starter kit from this company a few weeks ago. Had to remind her that it was an mlm and to respectfully decline an offer to take part. She ended up purchasing a candle holder from her friend to support her but luckily it didn't go further. Im glad you've made a video on this!!
I bought into the Scentsy thing, but only sold to 1-2 folks when they smelled the fragrances in my office and wanted to do the same. I was my own customer - basically doing it so I can get the discount and not give my money to someone else. I never used it to get money or as a business, and I had ignored every single email, text, post that the person who i signed up under had sent. I can tell you very very few people make any money off of it, and many people who are already in poverty buy into it thinking they will.
I was with Pink Zebra for 4 years..... They are a fragrance company that started with wax sprinkles you put in warmers... They were awesome bc you could mix your own scents etc. I joined for discount for me and my family and to make a lil money . I didn't know what an MLM was. In this company to get to the first rank, well you start as consultant, but you had to recruit 3 people to just get to next rank which was executive consultant. I never recruited anyone in 4 years. I didn't sign up for that, in my eyes. I lost $14 month for my website and still to this day have thousands of dollars if old stock I can't use!!!! I quit once I found Chelsea, you, Deanna , Savannah.... You all saved me!!! Pink Zebra is Scentsy's rival....lol
As a former rep, I appreciate as many people talking about this company as possible. They fly under the radar so often because they don't seem as egregious as many others, and I admit my getting suckered in was my own fault, it gets so easy to fall into the sunk cost, and needing to make it work. One of my happiest days was when I finally let it go. Sold literally everything in a huge lot except for a couple of warmers that I loved, at a loss of course, but I was free.
The income disclosure is even worse than it looks as it’s not taking into account expenses- buying all your supplies ie scent testers, catalogues etc really adds up and you have to have them or you can’t sell
I hated being a consultant for this company. It was the worst decision I ever made. I spent more money than I ever made and I still have inventory that I can’t get rid of.
I've watched a lot of your videos and appreciate what you do, have you ever heard about Life Leadership? I think it's just called "Life" now, it's like someone combined MLM, self-help and Christian pop culture all into one. I was disabled from 2012-2018 and lots of MLM people tried to prey on me, but that one stuck out as particularly nefarious because they tried to make it about faith. Thankfully something felt off about their "work opportunity" so I looked into the company and realized that something was indeed off. I would really appreciate it if someone did a deep dive video about them and the creepy cult-like flavor of MLM they embody. I believe the founder is named Orrin Woodard? Anyway, thanks for what you do... keep shedding light on this stuff!
I have a facebook friend who is a top leader at Scentsy and still has a side business making stuff AND a job. I know for a fact she has a huge team too and goes on all the incentive trips. The thing is Scentsy is so big where I am that everyone and their dog sells it and if you haven't been approached by at least 3 people you know about it, you are the odd man out. It's a popular item but saying it is oversaturated here (in Canada) is a major understatement.
Last Saturday I went to my vet to pick up cat meds. At a stoplight, I saw a couple of signs on the sidewalk to my left. One said "Support local businesses". The other was a Scentsy flag. Doh! 🙀
I’ve been waiting to see something exposing scentsy. Everybody in my town has been about scentsy for years. I’ve never personally bought any of it but the products I’ve received from other people have been REALLY good, so I don’t understand why it can’t just be sold in stores... I’ve known several reps who don’t intend to make a living off of it and just want the discount, but most recently there’s a SAHM I’m friends with on Facebook, who has been recruiting and just got back from Cabo with their bullshit. She makes the generic posts about how it’s changed her liiife etc etc etc. I want to tell her to piss off so bad
I have purchased a bunch of Scentsy from a former coworker. I feel like their wax melts have a stronger scent & last longer than buying from Target or Walmart. IMO I haven't bought in a while because I have so many & don't turn my warmer on daily. I know a different coworker that quit to sell/recruit Scentsy full-time. She seems to do well......always qualifies for the trips for her, her husband & their toddler.
I’d fail at all MLM’s because I’m not social and I hate asking people to buy something from me. We do one fundraiser a year for our sons football program and that’s it, I feel bad even asking once a year!
I remember seeing a wax melt small business on Instagram and they used scentsy wax melt burners. There was a lot of comments saying hey, this is an mlm, maybe don’t promote that. She was arguing with everyone that she was promoting her own products that she worked hard on, and the scentsy burner was just because she liked the design. But it was still in her Instagram pictures 🙄🙄
@@kapowwapowI do wonder tho does scentsy have a non compete? They must right? So this lady couldn’t both sell her own stuff and scenty? So what’s the draw? What’s she trying to get out of it? Unless she passes interested people over to a friend and gets a cut of the sign up fee or commissions?
The quality of the product is irrelevant. The product could be the top of the line; the best that's ever been. The problem with MLM is that it's a crappy business model and you'd be foolish to get involved.
I keep finding Scentsy warmers in the Goodwill dumpster. I figured they were sold at Target or Kohls or something since they throw out so many. They can't even sell them for $5 so they just end up in the landfill, as of 2024 at least.
I have an aunt who kept falling for the MLM gambit, though I don't know how much she is now. She would rope in other family members for a few different companies, and while I know she meant well her house was always piled with boxes with the newest recruiting-based totally-not-a-pyramid gigs. My entire childhood, single digit to high school graduation. It's kinda sad looking back, my mom would take me to attend some parties/seminars for a few companies and bought a lot of scentsy especially. She really wanted to support my aunt, and they're thick as thieves still. (I don't want to imply my mom was encouraging it or joining as a recruiter either. She just wanted to support family trying to make a business grow and liked the products she bought.)
My old roommate in university was into scentsy and (before that) It Works. She did both with her mom and oh boy, did they really go all in for the 1 year they were into both during our roommate ear. Scentsy in particular was on the last year of uni, and our flat always smelled like it. If she was home, it was on. Her aunt (it was a whole family affair) would be sending her sample packs all the time. Some scents were nice but they were all so strong. And they really believed two things- one, that being in this MLM was going to really get them out of the economic class they were in. And two- that having a nice smelling house alludes to wealth. Perhaps if it was like a light linen, lavender or something, but not a blueberries' butthole. I feel bad saying this, but whoever was in their up-line came from a wealthy lifestyle and tried to convince all these people that they would be suddenly become upper class through selling this. It broke my heart, but I didn't realise how much I love the smell of nothing until after I moved out. I hope they are both doing okay now, I believe they stopped selling scentsy after a few years, but my god.
Scentsy's headquarters is where I live, I grew up knowing so many of my friends' families that sold them. We had various products from Avon, Pampered Chef, and Scentsy around the house when I was young. My mom was smart enough to never start but that didn't stop her from helping out friends when she could afford it. I am so glad information out there on the scam of it. But I wish people around here wouldn't push it so hard. Melaluca just spent millions on the biggest video board (for Boise State) for any Mountain West school. 😩
I wish I didn’t like Scentsy bars so much lol. I also love Disney and when they have their Disney warmers come out it makes it so hard to say no lol. I love home fragrance so much lol. This is my first video of yours I’m watching but I know pink zebra is the biggest rave off TikTok. They allow their consultants to sell there on live but Scentsy they are NOT allowed too. In my opinion Pink Zebra is terribly expensive and not worth buying. Their smallest jar of wax sprinkles cost $10 and their biggest is $36. Crazy how much everything is over there and it looks super cheap in my opinion.
My step mother used to host parties for scentsy and let me tell you those were so obnoxious, but as a fragrance company in person events were really effective. I think she's still signed up to it for the discount, and she has so many warmers and a hoard of the bars. My step mother has a bad habit of going *all in* when she gets into things, she has at LEAST one warmer in every room, I can hardly be at my dad's house when she refills the warmers. I do like some of their fragrances! But they're *SUPER* strong and I'm prone to headaches when I'm around a fragrance that's too strong for me. Overall though I think my step mother quit hosting parties when we had to quarantine and now she's even more paranoid about getting sick than she was when I was a kid so she's just signed up for the discount.
The worst thing I saw was a person asked about reusing the wax after the scent was gone. Someone suggested making candles. The scentsy person responded with something like ‘I hope your house burns down’. I thought that scentsy person had been scammed and was desperate or had some mental issues.
In 2011 I was volunteering at a homeless shelter and one of the women who lived there was selling scentsy , she'd pressure other woman living there to purchase from her & join.
my aunt used to have "parties" at my grandma's house for scentsy a few years ago she still gives us tons of scentsy stuff for gifts honestly i never liked the products that much because the scents r WAY too strong i once had a room spray from my aunt it was scentsy and it would make me cough so much
Growing up with my mom being apart of 5+ MLMs, I love hearing about how these companies conduct business and understanding what my mom was experiencing while being a consultant for each company
I'm only to 8:50 but if you don't mention it Scentsy actually has displays at Walt Disney World during the Flower & Garden Festival. They sponsor a garden spot and they promote their scents by pumping them out in that area.
I was a scentsy rep when I learned about the Anti MLM community and after spending a couple thousand on product I quit asap. I STILL a few years later have wayyy too many scentsy wax bars
The wax bars used to cost much more. I think they brought down their pricing because Walmart and other big box companies started selling them. At the same time they then raised the prices of their warmers. It's mind blowing what they charge for them!
I'm late to the game here, but so glad this was mentioned. It seems like Scentsy is the one no one talks about. Irony, the products are decent enough that if they did an actual affiliate program or a wholesale program, they'd probably do really well. I used to love our products. What I didn’t love was the required minimum purchases to stay active, because we didn’t go through stuff that fast, because I'm too lazy to run around the house, turning things on if I don’t have to. It was the only reason I signed up, because it was less expensive and my "commission" on my own purchases made it more of a discount. I couldn’t be bothered with selling and recruiting. If it was just a regular sales company, I'd probably still buy from them. I don’t because older, wiser me can't support the MLM of it all.
I sold Scentsy a few years ago. It made me really sad when I figured all of this out 😭 I do love the products and selling it. It made people so happy when they got their stuff. Anyway. It’s a bummer
I received a warmer and some wax bars as a gift. I use the $2-$3 wax from Walmart!! I watched a Scentsy rep on here and she literally had boxes and boxes of stuff.
I think this video is great for people who dont know that these companies dont make money for you. BUT this product is not for people looking to make money. Honestly as a person who truely all about smelling good, for house products no one beats scentsy. The conplements i get on my home are amazing. I am also a collector, one thing i collect is disney products. They have plenty of disney products to that blend amazingly with my collect and home. This is a product you spoil yourself with. For me its therapeutic. I love to deep clean my house and turn on my scentsy and enjoy the aroma while i drink a coffee and watch my shows. Scentsy for me is almost like sell care. Know me and my house smell amazing gives me life.
I’ve got a few friends, plus a family member who sold Scentsy. I bought from them because I loved the smells and cute warmers. None of them pressured me to “join the biz” at all, never once. They honestly sold Scentsy because they loved the products. They weren’t in it for the “opportunity”. They don’t sell now as this was about 10+ years ago, but they never pressured to buy or sell, never polluted social media like Huns do now, def weren’t obnoxious. The scents didn’t last long at all, which is why I eventually just stopped buying.
Legit, I was interested in Scentsy when I saw them at an office I was temping at, but while working there I noticed how quickly the colors and scents degraded! I ended up getting some much better melts from yankee candle.
Same. I have a friend who sells it as well and she’s not trying to recruit ppl. She loves the product and wants to sell it to customers not recruit ppl.
I have a friend who about two weeks ago started making posts about it HOURLY almost. It really came out of nowhere. Like entirely something she had never talked about before. Then a sudden change to ‘IVE STARTED MY SCENTSY JOURNEY because of this this and that and I’m so happy’. And it just felt odd. Like it didn’t feel natural at all. And especially KNOWING her it felt super odd. After about two weeks of her posts I had to check into the company. God I wanna tell her. Like I feel I owe her the ‘hey don’t get wrapped up in this’. But I can already tell she’s taken the bait. And it’s sad cuz I KNOW her life atm. And how her and her husband have been struggling the last couple of years with 3 children. But I’m torn. Cuz I can SEE she’s bit. She’s got the ‘oh my god have you heard about…’ bug. I wanna share her this video but I’m so torn. Great video regardless. I KNEW this was as bad as every other MLM I’ve heard of.
Legit only bought my plug in warmer from Scentsy because it was Lock, Shock and Barrel (on clearance too). One thing I hate about buying anything scented online is that I can't personally smell anything. 😂 I also can't really stand to watch thousands of reviews on Scentsy products to determine whether they smell good or not.
I signed up for scentsy, not to sale but to get the discount on the warmers. I’m a MAJOR Disney and Harry Potter fan/nerd so when I saw they had those warmers I signed up so I could buy them and have first access. It’s horrible and I’m anti-mom but I can’t find those warmers anywhere else unfortunately 😢
Thank you, its very good information. I was actually about to sign up for Scentsy I am looking for a new opportunity and i do believe the MLM opportunity can be a successful venture. But some of my non negotiables are: quality products at an affordable price, and transparency. Guess I'll keep on looking. Maybe ill have to start my own 🤔
Oh this one's interesting because I found out about Scentsy when they were introducing their warmers. I still have mine actually xD because it's the only style I've ever liked of this specific warmer, and I've been keeping an eye on other decorative ones since, but this was like 10+ years ago that I got it. The scents honestly aren't any different than Yankee Candle lol. I just use my warmer now for wax melts from smaller creators. They smell better and most of the time those creators look for better ways to source their items as well as better quality items imo.
One of the things that really rubs me wrong about Scentsy, aside from its popularity here in Orlando/Kissimmee/Celebration because it sponsors Epcot events, is that the products themselves are really good. Before moving from Oregon to Florida, I technically had a Scentsy warmer that I got at the thriftstore with some partially used melts. The thrift store was one my aunt-in-law runs in Bend, OR and all the proceeds go to the local animal clinic that helps offer free and affordable care to rescue pets. It is also so hard when an MLM has good products, because if they were just a normal wholesaler and their reps just sold products, it would be a perfectly good company....but no, they have to add the recruiting and ruin it.
I’ve heard of scentsy cause I grew up in the south. When I moved to idaho, I lived down the road from the scentsy main campus. I literally did not know they were an MLM until I learned about MLMs. I worked with people who did chemistry internships with them at the main campus in Idaho….so weird. But they do have the BEST Christmas lights in the area. It’s a gorgeous light walkthrough. I never did it though cause eff MLMs
As a consultant who know realizes how bad their model is I don’t even push it. Unfortunately, warmer pricing has been going up and up and while wax bars are still $6 you can barely smell them anymore. I just got the new summer scents and they have absolutely no scent to them unless you actually stick your nose in the warmer. All of the ones at the top also post false income claims all the time and the company does nothing about it. When I sent an item into compliance to see if it was acceptable I got a b**** slapping by my SSD telling me what I did was wrong when in fact she was wrong and just got caught. I don’t like the way they treat people especially if you’re not adding enough to their bottom line. The girl that made the meme got called out by compliance but I was told I shouldn’t have done that because they’re struggling with cancer, while I’m over here with a husband with terminal cancer and I lost part of my thumb, pinky and had my middle finger amputated due to cancer but apparently her cancer journey was much more devastating then my entire families. Just be aware if you don’t make them enough money you are NOT important to them.
MLMs are rampant in military wife circles and have been forever. A 'party' every week...Tupperware, Princess House, Mary Kay...you name it. Before social media was a thing, there were MLM circles.
I was brought some Scentsy bars a few years back with a warmer. I wanted upstairs and downstairs to smell nice so i used some of the wax in a normal wax burner. I had no idea the Scentsy wax has a lower melting point and the flame from the candle was too hot. The wax started spitting out out of the burner, hit some of the books on the shelf a small fire started. I pulled the books off and stood on them to put the fire out while blowing out the candle. A short story on how i nearly burnt my house down with scentsy wax 😂
Loving your look!! I love the warmers and have a couple, but yeah…I had some friends sell it and still have some wax melts. I love them but don’t burn them quick enough to purchase on a consistent basis. From now on, will just get them from Target or Walmart (or H-E-B here in SA).
my mom and sister would buy scentsy stuff thru their friends a LOT back in the day. their scents actually were pretty good i wanted to get one of the burners and some melts for my own room😭
Wonderful thing is you can get fragrance oils that are dupes for Scentsy scents and lots of handmade wax small businesses can make dupes. Scentsy was my intro to wax melts like 8 years ago but I really started disliking them because their fragrance oil seeps out of the wax which is not fun to touch and usually means they're using way too much.
That crazy 150 dollar stargazer diffuser is sitting on my kitchen counter 😂 My mom bought it for herself at a fair like 6 years ago. We don't even use it as a diffiser, it's just a pretty light. There's a setting where the colors change and its super pretty! Shitty company that we don't purchase from now, but she still loves that damn diffuser lol. Also funny story with it. My mom bought it at the fair, the lady had a display one set up and it was on this beautiful blue color. My mom opened hers when she got home, turned it on, and it was this weird orange color. Pretty, but kind of meh. The lady never told her that the color changes or that there are different settings. There was no paperwork or instructions with the diffuser. So it sat on the counter for THREE YEARS at this weird sort of pretty orange color. We went to a differenr fair and saw another lady sellinf them. Hers was on this beautiful green color. My mom told her the story of our ugly orange one, and the lady proceeds to push a button on hers and it starts changing color! My mom was shocked, and i started dying laughing. We got home and my mom switched it to color changing amd its stayed on that setting ever since lol.
Only thing I’ve purchased from Scentsy is the Grogu/Baby Yoda plushy as it was one of the first out there. It’s really nice, but I’ve never found any scents that I liked.
I’ve been seeing pink zebra all over tiktok lives recently! It’s like these beads that melt to a wax and you get to mix them and “customize” your scents. These women seem to be doing great. But when I asked on one persons live if it’s a MLM I got muted…
we can get these products in other stores at a better price!! i have! i like to shop, buy it and go home, with out fear that a hun its going to pester me about buying more or trying to convince me to join. Buying from an mlm seems so difficult that's not worth it at the end. The juice its not worth the squeeze!! Also distributers dont understand that people cant buy their stuff at the rate they want! lets say i bought a wax melt from a hun, does not mean that i will constantly going to buy and buy, i dont have that money to spend like that!! And the constant harassment does not help either.
Back in their glory days, I loved this company (that I didn't actually know was an MLM).....as a customer who wasn't sucked into being a #bossbabe. I can't speak to their quality today, but if that hasn't changed, their bars destroy others in terms of the scents and longevity. The burners are.....yah....stupid prices, but I haven't found any bars that are half as good as Scentsy.
I remember my neighbor growing up selling scentsy products and jamberry nails. You should totally do a deep dive on jamberry! I remember going to a jamberry house party as a kid haha
I used to be a consultant for scentsy and pure romance. Obviously both MLM’S. I never did it for my primary income. It takes a very long time to actually profit off of it. I think the most I made was $30 and that was someone placing a $200 order with me.
omg my grandma LOVES scentsy… i’ve only ever heard of the brand because of my grandma. i didn’t know it was an mlm until a couple days ago after binging a bunch of videos like this. thankfully my grandma doesn’t work for any mlms but i’m honestly not surprised she’s into tacky mlm products and is friends with people in mlms lol.
I spent a lot on scentsy before I started becoming anti mlm. Easily over a grand. Ive spent close to that on two launches alone. Most of my warmers are amazing. One will not fully melt wax to save its life (also happens to be the last warmer I purchased). The latest waxes I've bought dont keep their scent long at all. They would be scentless after one or two burns and I dont keep them on all the time. Their quality has really went downhill. Once I melt through my stash, I'll never purchase their wax bars again! Can definitely buy better wax elsewhere. I just wish there was another place to get licensed warmers! I love love love my Nightmare Before Christmas warmers!
this throws me back. a friend of my mum sold those and my mum bought some of the scents back in the day (she never got into the scam, thankfully, just bought some scents) And ffs... I will never find anything that smelled like that one purpel(?!) scent? I think of this scent regularely... bruh...
My family used to be in another mlm, and scooped up some scentsy warmers from a consultant. We keep finding scentsy waxes at goodwill and we haven't ever gotten them since. Anyone who's into wax warmers, definitely thrift or buy from actual small businesses. We've found quality warmers at other places, too. There's really no need to keep supporting them
There maybe other people talking about this same topic, but this is the first time I’m seeing someone saying anything about scentsy. I know someone that did/does scentsy and I just couldn’t stand all her posts about it. It was constant! But what really made me hate it was when she mentioned her down line. She had an absurd amount of people and I just couldn’t believe she was using them to gain the money she was reporting to have from scentsy. Because of course she was telling people on fb how much she made a month. It was just really gross.
I used to love Scentsy! I was not a consultant but a customer of ours was (I worked at a bank). Then I realized how toxic fragrance and wax is, so we only use certain melts and we only use coconut or soy. But to be honest, their melts were MUCH better than WalMart
Use my code ISA for 7 days free access to CHEEX: linktr.ee/isacheex
How do they not see that THEY are the customer?! Look at how much inventory they all have it’s insane lol 🤦🏻♀️
The amount of TikTok’s I saw (bc of my research) of massive closets full of scentsy was unreal to me!
Definitely my SIL has loads and we end up getting them as gifts at birthdays and Christmas etc.
Because they don't actually track their expenditures vs revenue.
TRULYYYY. their downline is their customer base.
Same! They had a deal on the kit so I got a ton of waxes. I sold a bit to my coworkers, like only a few orders, then quit.
Army wife here and I completely agree sis. It makes it sooo challenging making spouse friends bc so many are in some kind of MLM.
I have a former coworker who got into an mlm company on the 1st year or two. She makes bank, but she is the ONLY one I know that makes money
@@Toretto_the_pupI was going to say the same thing,, the Walmart ones are not great , the formula is not the greatest , but its fine enough for those who just want a bit of “smell in their home”.
neither scentsy nor walmart are made with quality ingredients. they are full of toxins!
@@elizabetherne556 everyone is has their own opinion 😊😊. I am not affiliated with Scentsy but I prefer their wax.
@@mammoto1749 hi, me and my boyfriend making wax melts and yeah our price is cheaper than Scentsy and Yankee candle
Do u have etsy or anything I've been looking for a small business to support for wax!!! Fall scents especially lol
im gonna be real girl, its so cathartic to watch your videos on these mlms. pretty much all the women in my family have been victims of mlms and ive had multiple girls i knew in high school reach out to me as an adult trying to sell me mlm products. seeing someone talk about them so openly and thoroughly is so so so comforting!
Let’s just say it ain’t cheap or quick to get from Australia to the US 🙃
I also work in Aged care and they are such huge targets for this stuff I hate it.
Oof when I flew from America to Japan the flight cost a fortune! Australia is FARTHER. It had to have been at least 2 grand a ticket!
@@Zelda00Gamer she took her husband and her young son as well so the “free” trip 100% set her back minimum $5k
You are so right. We're flying from LA to Sydney in February. 7500 for both of our tix. That's premium economy on quantas
I also do the same thing with damaged candles that have sat in a car or something and the wick is stuck underneath all the wax, I usually get ones like that from yard sales or thrift stores for super cheap :)
i do the same! i dont personally use melts, i do candles and incense, but i give them to people around me
I'm so glad you covered them.
I'm in the UK so Scentsy is probably the most prevalent MLM at the moment where I live, but I don't really see it talked about very much
I'm in the UK too, and my SIL is in scensty!!
Are you still doing well?
@@Catglittercraftsyes I am
scentsy smells so strong it can be headache inducing
@@Periwinkle12988eww thats awful. my friend keeps the stuff she has in so many thicc bags and it still cant hide it completely
had a teacher (not part of the mlm just a customer) with a scentsy wax melter in her classroom and even she knew it could be bad, she asked everyone at least once a week to tell her if she should turn it off
My mother got given a starter kit from this company a few weeks ago.
Have any of the amber scent? Lol…
Iv never heard of pink zebra 😅 glad to know it’s a MlM before I do lol
People snap up Scentsy at thrift shops.
@@loydamedina235 it’s pushed on you by your upline. The whole thing is ridiculous.
Doh! 🙀
Absolutely love seeing your channel go from strength to strength. More subscribers and LOTS of engagement. Well done 👏
IMO
I haven't bought in a while because I have so many & don't turn my warmer on daily.
I know a different coworker that quit to sell/recruit Scentsy full-time.
She seems to do well......always qualifies for the trips for her, her husband & their toddler.
Shes not actually making more.
I’d fail at all MLM’s because I’m not social and I hate asking people to buy something from me. We do one fundraiser a year for our sons football program and that’s it, I feel bad even asking once a year!
I noticed they never actually said Scentsy isn’t an MLM. They tap danced around that question 😂
OH I saw that too! It was rlly iffy how hard they were defending the brand too
@@kapowwapowI do wonder tho does scentsy have a non compete?
Whoa, that's intense
My Scentsy owl from 2014 side eyeing me 😅😅
I got my circa 2015 buddha head...no regrets!
Thanks for making these educational type videos. MLM is not a good business structure, and preys on people in vulnerable situations.
This and other MLMs have my town in a chokehold
My mom knew this old lady (rip) and she had a literal whole house full of inventory
I’m wondering how come no one ever addresses people joining these companies to save money on purchases they make themselves.
Maybe ill have to start my own 🤔
Scentsy has absolutely invaded the police department I work for lol. It’s so bad, their items make me so sick and give me headaches.
I love scentsy wax bars much better than Walmart ones. I also love the car air fresheners too
Ahhh!!! I’m SO excited you’re covering Scentsy!!! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
You look amazing today, Isabella! Also, glad to see a bit of a deep dive on Scentsy.
There were six booths of Scentsy at the Covered Bridge festival last year.. Six. Oh there were plenty of other MLMs there but they won by far.
I love the covered bridge festival!!!
MLMs are rampant in military wife circles and have been forever. A 'party' every week...Tupperware, Princess House, Mary Kay...you name it. Before social media was a thing, there were MLM circles.
Girl I love this hair style on you! You look amazing as always 😍
I’ll just stick to my 9-5 I get paid hourly just for showing up and paid vacation paid holidays 401k medial insurance
Loving your look!! I love the warmers and have a couple, but yeah…I had some friends sell it and still have some wax melts. I love them but don’t burn them quick enough to purchase on a consistent basis. From now on, will just get them from Target or Walmart (or H-E-B here in SA).
Thanks so much. I would like to see a video about Ruby Ribbon. I haven’t seem much about that MLM.
Right. They tell you the discount is a reason to sign up, but when you do and that's all you wanted, they get mad 😂
my mom and sister would buy scentsy stuff thru their friends a LOT back in the day. their scents actually were pretty good i wanted to get one of the burners and some melts for my own room😭
Which indie wax melts brands have you tried? I love indie wax melts, and I'm always looking for brands to try!
@@sapphicsiren I've tried a handful of brands. I'm a big fan of Squeaky Peach and Tonshi Mountain Studios right now. I like Villainous Wax's themes.
My coworker is in this. She has tried and tried to get me to buy. She uses every occasion. Holidays. Birthdays. Me moving. It gets really annoying.
Im loving your videos , i was wondering if you could cover Primerica if you haven't already 😅
I heard the intro from a small screen, and was like, what kind of MLM bs. I heard you and knew I was in for some fun!!
I like Scentsy, however, wax melts from Walmart like Better Homes and Gardens performs better then Scentsy and only cost 2.00!
I remember my neighbor growing up selling scentsy products and jamberry nails. You should totally do a deep dive on jamberry! I remember going to a jamberry house party as a kid haha
There's a cop that's a scentsy shiller in my area. Sharing this on Facebook rn. Lol
I used to be a consultant for scentsy and pure romance. Obviously both MLM’S. I never did it for my primary income. It takes a very long time to actually profit off of it. I think the most I made was $30 and that was someone placing a $200 order with me.
As a man, I appreciate your sponsor.
omg my grandma LOVES scentsy… i’ve only ever heard of the brand because of my grandma. i didn’t know it was an mlm until a couple days ago after binging a bunch of videos like this. thankfully my grandma doesn’t work for any mlms but i’m honestly not surprised she’s into tacky mlm products and is friends with people in mlms lol.
I find it hilarious how many people think that Scentsy came up with scented wax cubes. We had these in the 80’s.
I love love love my Nightmare Before Christmas warmers!
how tf
this throws me back. a friend of my mum sold those and my mum bought some of the scents back in the day (she never got into the scam, thankfully, just bought some scents)
And ffs...
I live in a small southern town where there's a scentsy sales-person on every corner. None of them make anything from it.
