    Would you mind posting a video of the slide operating? My husband and I are wanting to replace the gross carpet in our camper with some type of vinyl flooring but are concerned about the slide movement. Thanks for the video!

    Did you consider butting the first vinyl plank in the slideout area up against the existing black transition piece? The wider exposed piece might not have been objectionable, and that would have both protected the plank edge and made the transition a bit more level. Would like to see the slide-out operated in and out too. I'm getting ready to do the same project. Thanks for the tips!

    What thickness of vinyl plank did you use. We are planning to redo our trailer floor but I am nervous about the floor that the slide goes over. And with the interlocking planks getting caught or scratched when the slide comes in, did you all do any adhesive on that section of your floors?

    How did you get it to stay in place? Will it slide around? Sorry but new to this.

    Nice job. I missed this video before I replaced my RV carpeting with vinyl plank, but I managed to muddle along. I really didn't want to totally empty off the slide, so I left that carpeted, but it turned out that taking out the dinette did make it easier to place the main floor beneath. Not exactly easy, but better than paying thousands to have someone else do it. It does make a big difference in a 20 year old Winnebago.
    If you will allow, I have my video posted here: th-cam.com/video/NA6cwnNIjow/w-d-xo.html

    So it has been about 18 months since you did this project. How is the front edge of the plank holding up? Have you had any issues with it? After watching this video I just did mine (1/7/22) the exact same way and have the exact same issue and was wondering how it has held up.

    Was there a strip of plastic on the main floor where the slide came over? And did you remove it? July 28 @ 4 pm

    I am not an expert, and I've never done this, but I have an idea to cover up the edge of the slide. I wonder if you could use a heat gun to soften the laminate floor enough to bend it over the edge? If it works it would look great. I know it's too late for you, at least this time, but it might help someone else out.

    Did you consider the "peel and stick" flooring at all ?? I have read some complaints about the gaps opening up on floating floors when the temperatures vary between summer and winter. Have you experienced that with your floating floor ??

    @Family Fulfillment Project Your floor looks great! Happy New Year btw (2024). I need to change out my flooring in my RV, I just hate my carpet. I want to change it to the tongue and groove floor panel (like you have). Although, I have heard that this style is not stable. When the RV is moving, some of the panels may move or get displaced. Have you encountered that problem? One more thing, what thickness is your flooring? When the slide comes in and out and the flooring is too thick, it will scratch the new floor and make groves into it. Any input would be much appreciated. .... Rick

      A set of slide ski's will help with this while protecting the sub floor ends from wicking moisture.

    If you don’t have the vinyl cutter you can use a right angle, box cutter and just cut and snap

    @Family Fulfillment Project The floors look freaking GREAT! Great job! Now that you've had the flooring for 3 years, I wanted to know how the floor is holding up. Like you, I have been doing alot of research on TH-cam and most of the videos are recently posted (less than 1 year). When you take your RV out, does the planks shift or do the planks come apart or break while driving when transporting the RV? I have a 2019 Jayco with carpet/vinyl and want to change it to vinyl planks. What thickness are the planks?

    • @FamilyFulfillmentProject
      @FamilyFulfillmentProject  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey! So we traveled across the country In it and zero moving. Some people we know bought the RV (when we sold last year) and it’s still holding fast! Zero movement 👏 I don’t remember the width size of the planks.

    Love the remodel. I have purchased a 2006 Fleetwood and also want to remove the carpet and install the same flooring that you did. My quest is have you noticed any scratch or rub marks on the floor from the slide? Also, how did you attach the flooring under the slide?

    • @FamilyFulfillmentProject
      @FamilyFulfillmentProject  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Okkkkkk so some scratch makes but only if we don’t sweep properly and a little stone gets under there. The scratch isn’t noticeable unless you’re down cleaning it. Start your floor under the slide and you shouldn’t have to attach it, that was our mistake.

      has anyone tried felt furniture pads on the bolts on the piece that moves the slide out? the shoe thingy that now have felt in newer ones me thinks...haven't tried

  • @kdmccabe4152
    @kdmccabe4152 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I realize that this is an older vid but, I'll bet the slide scratched the new flooring when retracted. The Author of the video only did half of the flooring work by not telling or demonstrating the replacement of the "glide shoe" which is mounted on the bottom of the slide and is scratching the flooring. When changing from original carpet to vinyl or laminate, you have to remove the plastic and metal "shoe" and replace it with a carpeted one to center the slide and prevent scratches.

    I have concerns about vinyl plank flooring in an rv. It's not designed to use in extreme temperatures due to expansion and contraction. Most manufacturers state on the box not for rv use.numerous people have ignored that and after a year or two are seeing their flooring project open up and buckle. There is vinyl flooring suitable for rv use and homes that are in extreme temps and not heated or cooled like vacation cabins. it resist shrinking expansion and cracking. Most rv manufactures either use that or sheet vinyl which is more dimensionally stable.there are also commercial peel and stick glue down commercial grade tiles.Most RV and campers see temperature ranges from below freezing to 130f they are not kept at a constant temperature like your home especially when stored. If you go this route and use vinyl planking install in cool temps like 50 -60f and leave 1/2" all around for expansion.
