NOTE: After sliding the gimbal upward and before placing the smartphone on the clamp, you must unlock the tilt arm and the clamp (they must move freely). They are locked into position so double check it. This seems to be a recurrent problem and it will not properly turn on if they are not unlocked

...always wondered if such a product existed...today I saw a guy at the Stuart, FL airshow using one...first time I ever saw one...he didn't speak much English, but we managed to communicate (in my poor high school Espanol) - he let me take photos of the device...said 'Amazon' (the universal world)...did a Google & found it - it's on my wish list now...thanx for the tutorial...amazing some of the shit you're still learning even at 72 years old...

hi. Vortex mode is the one AFTER POV (If you look closer at the video the light is blinking twice).

hi, I can't understand your question. When you said "locks in on it" are you talking about the tracking? If so, the tracking on the Q3 was not very consistent and it will depend if the app can determine what it's tracking. For a moving subject such as a train, if it's going too fast it might be challenging

Many things might be happening. Do you have the phone on the gimbal. Is every arm unlocked and free to move ? Did you try to balance the phone before turning the gimbal on ?

Thank you for this helpful video. One suggestion I can make is that you may wish to let consumers know that they have to install the Cami app before some of these features work. I was initially using my phone's regular camera app, and the tracking etc was not working, so it was initially quite frustrating. Once I got the app installed, things started coming together. Thanks again.

@@OttoJulian_ Hello again, Otto. So, my Q3 refused to connect via Bluetooth now. It connected once, but since then, it simply will not connect... I've tried everything I can think of.... I've rebooted my phone and the gimbal, I've cleared phone's memory, I have tried connecting in various orders (phone bluetooth on first, then connection attempted. Bluetooth off, run the Cami app, which prompts Bluetooth...and I've made sure the arm is fully extended and that the swiveling parts are free). Nothing is working. I really don't understand why it worked once, then never again...
Would you happen to have any advice before I return the thing? I am quite disappointed, because I really needed it for this weekend...
@@BadMonkeyFinger_Audio Pls check what indicator lights react of your gimbal ? If it's slow flash, pls make sure you pull the vertical arm all up when gimbal is off. If it's fast flash, you can upgrade the firmware via computer to try. If it's green solid, you can press and hold trigger button+MODE button+Photo/Video button at the same time for 2 seconds to reset Bluetooth.

I explain how to do it on my Q3 review, but basically you need to go to their website and download a few files (including the firmware update)

Hi. If you want to use their features such as tracking, timelapses, etc you need yo use their app. If you want the stabilization and to be able to change modes for example, you can do it even from your regular camera app

it should lock if you are just using PF mode.

Hey Otto! Thanks for the video. Unfortunately, My phone keep saying that I need to turn on pairing of the the device and I don't know how to do that. Please help.
Oh! I found the solution. We need to continously press power button for 8 times to reset device's bluetooth settings. Also, Make sure you don't (never) connect this device with phone's default bluetooth, just go to ZV app directly and connect with Q3 from there. Thanks :)

Hi otto plz make a video on smoothness of shot when using timelapse panning and vertigo coz i hv seeen there is frame drop im those scenss the continuity is. Issue
for the Vortex or vertigo mode, I showed a clip when I did the review. I did notice that on the screen it looks like it's dropping frames, but when I play it, it looks ok. I thought it was me, but I'll make more tests soon, along with the motionlapse. I have another video coming up with this gimbal in about 2 weeks so I'll make sure to find out if there are any issues worth mentioning. Thanks for the heads up

I’m having one query here that I haven’t figured out yet.
I want to make all my videos by keeping the mobile in portrait mode. I can do that by triple tapping the back button.
But whenever I click in Smart tab in the ZY cami app, the gimbal puts the mobile back into landscape mode which I don’t like.
Is it possible to use all the smart features in portrait mode?
Also, I do not see any option to do it using joystick. It only allows me to rotate the gimbal, not the mobile (like a wheel).

good afternoon! I tried to connect the stabilizer to the phone(iPhone Xr) through the ZY CAMI application, the device pairing fails. Bluetooth gives an error due to long pairing. what to do?
try restarting your phone and make sure your phone is not connected to other bluetooth devices
which mode is best for short film in this gimbale
The gimbal mode will not depend on the video duration, it will depend on what you want to achieve on your video (what movements you need for example).

please check that all axis are unlocked before turning it on.
Thanks for posting. Really helped me set up. I’m noticing my vertical arm isn’t locking when in the down(non filming) position. Even with the screw lock engaged. Is this normal or should I send it back? New to this so any advice is helpful 😁
The locking knob? Yeah it's normal that it doesn't lock down the arm the way we would think. It barely has any strength, but it seems to be normal for this gimbal.

Hello, my gimbal's roll pan is stuck and not moving no matter its on or off. I thought it may be on standby mode and when I try to switch to PF mode it goes back and all lights are blinking slowly. Do you know what may be the problem, and how can I fix it?
To start, the gimbal needs to move when it’s off, so you need to take a look of why it is not moving

hello! Ideally, I'd say everytime you are going to use it, but I'm guilty of not doing so. I will usually do it when I noticed that the horizon is not ok, or everyday when I start using it

The Q3 is a good option, but I can't confirm if it will work at 60fps when using their app. It works with some Android devices, not all of them

it is recommended to calibrate when you are going to use it, but most importantly, calibrate when you feel that the horizon is not leveled
I just bought one and I'm testing it. I found out the tracking mode when I highlight something to track, the whole gimbal is vibrating and I'm not sure if the motor is spoil or this tracking got some issue. I try tracking other things and the gimbal just spin and spin around. it's so weird!
are you using an android phone? this seems to be more of an issue on Android... on my original review of this gimbal I did mention some issues with the tracking, not what you describe but sometimes it looses the subject. Depending on the movement and what you are tracking the gimbal might try to "turn around" to find its subject and that's where it seems that it's going crazy. As soon as your tracked subject is no longer in the frame you need to cancel the tracking. Always makes sure there is enough light (tracking doesn't work too well when there is not ) and try to test the tracking limitations

Will the clamp not affect phone volume buttons?
not really, there is a round opening inside the clamp that will fit most buttons.
I ended up sending the first one of these back because the articulating sections would not move when started (not the sliding section) then I found out the factory locks these articulating pieces for reasons I have no idea about. It cost the company extra shipping costs and cost me 2 extra weeks of waiting for a working stabilizer.
Are all the brands like this when new (locked in place)? I don't mean folded up; I mean the articulating parts have to be turned manually to unlock them on this brand and model.
Hi J&D. Yeah, for the most part they are like that, as it "helps" the gimbal to stop moving around when not in use. You are not the first one running into this problem, specially with this gimbal. Manufacturers should be more clear with this using stickers maybe? I'll make sure to mention this on future tutorials as well.

there are gopro adapters that you can buy, they simulate the rectangular shape of the phone, on one side you place the gopro, the other side has a counter weight. you can find them on Amazon
