I got into lana's music in 2022 and instantly thought how on earth i spent the last 10 years not knowing this woman's music. A complete maverick, an auteur, not to mention the most important artist of our times.
Ride is my fav Lana song ever ❤
She is the most important artist of the last decade. And best lirycist of our generation. Love ur reacts. From Brazil here 🇧🇷🇧🇷
Every time I listen to Lana: "I don't know how to explain it...."
When I discovered Lana back in 2012 I would never imagine I would spend a whole decade listening to almost only her music (about 90% Lana 10% music from 60’-70’-80’s), there’s no exaggeration to it at all, that is how powerful she is, everything feels shallow to me after her work. That is my personal experience, first time that I can recall I text this on youtube. So I am at this point where I find interesting watching reactions and get people’s feedback on Lana’s music (for me it’s more than music, as you, I can’t explain it the way I feel it).
@@Dave-vb4nd I 100% get what you’re saying
@Dave-vb4nd omgosh I feel the exact same! Listening since 2012 too! And same 60s 70s and 80s but also 90s 20s but totally obsessed with Lana there's not a day that doesn't go by in my life where I don't listen to her. She's still underrated. I also find myself watching all Lana reactions bc I like seeing someone else's perspective and I find more and more things I didn't catch before🎉
That's what happens when Gen z discovers a radical auteur. Lana is the greatest artist of our times imo
@@siddharthnaagar7028 genZ is ruining everything
Edit: “Radical auteur” 🤌🏻
When you do ultraviolence don’t forget her 5 bonus tracks (black beauty, guns and roses, Florida kilos, is this happiness, and flip side)
om ty for this!!! people always forget about is this happiness and flipside!!!
Just recorded my reaction. Flipside was removed from streaming and I can't react to it using a source that's not from streaming platforms because TH-cam is tougher on smaller channels when it comes to that stuff otherwise my whole reaction will get taken down. Thanks for informing me and I was able to do the rest of the songs
I named Lana
@@JayCluessyeah it’s not on Spotify or Apple Music, it’s a vinyl variant in Japan

My favorite genre is hip hop boys discovering Lana!
Not me exited to see his reaction to cola 😂
I love yayo exactly because of that feeling of hypnosis that it brings.❤😂
if you have any interest in Lana's poetry, the Ride music video with the full monologue is a great watch!
16:10 Body Electric references "I Sing the Body Electric", poem by Walt Whitman whicj explores the physical body in connection with the soul. In this poem Whitman establishes the links between the body and the soul by celebrating perfection of the male and female body and the importance the body castes upon the soul and bodies connecting with one another. This song and poem praises the physicality and sensuality of the body. She's singing "We get down every Friday Night". She contrasts sensuality with references of Faith as well, such as Jesus her bestie and Mary praying for her. She mentions Marilyn Monroe who is known as a very Sensual 'American' icon.
In the lyrics, we can see Lana deceiving herself; "Pretending I'm not hurt and go about the world like I'm having fun". She sings "We dont need nobody, we got eachother.. or at least i pretend". She pretends to not be hurt and go about partying, embracing and celebrating sensuality of the body and soul.
this is a perfect explanation :)
"Tropico" is a short film by Lana Del Rey, released in 2013 The film is a 27-minute visual journey that combines three of Del Rey's songs from her "Paradise" EP: "Body Electric," "Gods & Monsters," and "Bel Air." 😍😍
Amazing video
Lana is pretty much the embodiment of summer. I mean it. Every single album is summer in their own way.
really can’t wait for Ultraviolence
You're the gift that keeps on giving, dude.
You have awesome Lana reactions! It’s fun to watch and you do a great job of interpreting her lyrics.
You don´t just listen to Lana Del Rey, its an experience for sure.
Soemone online explained Carmen, and I think he nailed it. I remember Lana saying that Carmen is a metaphor for liquor, but after seeing the video, I knew it was about meth anyway, I’m gonna copy & paste his statement:
Carmen is a girl who is alcoholic (Lana obviously) but the symbol of Carmen through the song becomes a symbol of crystal meth or methamphetamine. You can see in the chorus, it's really simple.
"The boys, the girls, they all like Carmen'' - all her friends like and do meth
"She gives them butterflies" - meth helps the release of serotonin (a hormone contributor to well being and happiness)
"Her mind's like a diamond" - diamond = crystal
"Like lighting, white lighting" - obvious
If you watch the Carmen video closely, you can see that the some parts of the video show for a second how methamphetamine affects the central nervous system and the release of serotonin.
Reaction is incomplete without "without me"
For Cola she had a boyfriend who told her that american girls walk around like they taste like pepsi cola and she thought it was so funny she wrote a song about it.
Ultraviolence finally next, we all sat for that. It's my fave album, if Born to die and Paradise blew your mind, you have no idea what she created with Ultraviolence. Remember to also include the reaction to the bonus tracks.
Ride is my “gun to my head” favorite Lana Del Rey song. It’s SO difficult to choose just one, but if I had to, it’s Ride.
really glad u noticed her vocal technique, it's really beautiful :) if you're going to do a reaction to the ultraviolence album (or any other of hers) please open genius and try to understand more of the lyrics. (you're amazing, that was not a complaint!)
Blue velvet is a cover of a old song that I believe was released in the 50s
Yes, it is
Thank you so much for not making us. Wait! Love your videos.
Also you forgot to do born to die deluxe which includes 3 extra tracks: without you, Lolita, and lucky ones

@@riggamorrischan thank you💪🏼 everyone has been so great and it’s meant a lot to me
Loved you reaction as always ❤️
Can’t wait to Ultraviolence
Hi Jay, I’m a big fan of listening to music and note that reactions can be based on the technical musician pick ups which I love.
BUT displaying the real reaction FEELING of the music and picking up the narrative of the lyrics is the true gold. Lana is top tier for me and exploring how others react and interpret her lyrics expands my understanding of her music. Thank you!
You're serving on time with these reactions 😁
Your one of the very good lana reactors
I like how all her album covers look like she put no effort into them. So you think, hmmm, I'm curious. Then you listen, it's magical what she does to the brain chemistry ❤
I strongly - highly recommend watching Ride music video it's basically watching a short film. Thought-provoking beautifully done it is pure artistry at top tier level. Must watch until the very end. Also, another perfect one is Tropico🎉 short film. They all tie into the Paradise album. Even her music videos are pure bliss. You won't be disappointed ❤
you spoil us 🙏
Really been digging these reactions. Though, kinda bummed you missed the three bonus tracks from the main deluxe album (Without You, Lolita, Lucky Ones)
You’ve earned a new subscriber regardless, keep them coming! 👍🏻
Love your reactions. Lana is bae.
gosh i love how deeply interested you are, the way you try to describe your feeling towards the song it's so amazing and cute. Definitely gained +1 subscriber, kisses from Brasil💜🇧🇷🫶

Jay could you please listen to Marina and the Diamonds her and Lana used to be good friends back in the day and she has also inspired artists like Billie eilish and Melanie Martinez
When you listen to Ultraviolence, make sure you don't miss the Deluxe tracks. They're stunning, just like the rest of the album.
OMG ULTRAVIOLENCE IS NEXT BEST ALBUM IS COMING
You need to react to The Bonus tracks without you, lolita, lucky ones
i luvvvv paradise. the ride music video has been my #1 fav music video ever since it came out. Ride is classic lana, and i think one of the songs that sums up her music the best. famous cola starting line lmao, she actually came up w that line bc a european ex of hers said "american girls walk around like their p tastes like pepsi cola" she refers to men LIKE harvey weinstein in cola, but after his sexual abuse allegations came out she stopped performing this song live. its so good in her lives tho. u gotta stop pausing during the bridgesss lana is queen of the bridges they usually the best part of the songs. blue velvet is a cover :). she usually has a cover in each album. gods and monsters is ab LA and hollywood, she says la la la in the beginning. It's ab the toxic sides of hollywood and how evil the industry is, it takes away one's innocence, she doesn't want to sell her soul for the fame. Paradise's biggest themes r escapism/religion+heaven/freedom. Yayo is a really good song underrated af, but imo the unreleased version of yayo is better than the released one. I think she relates her love for yayo (coke) and the euphoric singing, to the love she has for her man, which also feels euphoric/addictive to her, like drugs. good job on posting so frequently, can't wait for ultraviolence. ur right that she has such captivating music, it does paint a picture in ur mind and thats why i love her.
@@TanyaPhilipose thanks for the explanation, it helps a lot :)
Looooove it, but don’t push urself, it’s no rush, this is the kinda music u listen to by ur heart.❤
You said that Body Electric sounds like it could be in a movie and you know what? It kinda is in a movie :) I recommend you check out her short film titled "Tropico", consisting of 3 tracks from Paradise EP which are Body Electric, Gods and Monsters and Bel Air.
Bel Air is so underrated. It brings me to tears.
also bel air is the intended last song for this album, which is very powerful to me to end the EP with that song and the children playing as if youve reached paradise. i highly recommend the Tropico short film, it has themess of religion, being corrupted, and being "saved"
The screeching static-y noise that you hear, is an instrument called a musical saw ! Fascinating right ?? And she does use it a lot ! 😊
Before you get into ultravionce you need to check out Young and beautiful from the great gasby soundtrack
I wish someday u react to lorde's albums❤
The cola line is bc her Scottish ex thought American girls tasted like Pepsi and she thought it’d be funny to add to the song.
@@rmt222 it sure was funny😂
Paradise is a really good album cause it's the last album that has "classic" lana. If you look at the paradise tour clips, you'll know there was a certain aura to her. She was drenched in glamour. She's toned down that old hollywood aesthetic since UV came out.
Edit: conceptually. The album starts with Ride which has the line "I've got a war in my mind" and ends with Bel Air which has the line "Lead me to war with your brilliant direction." I think that's very telling of the cyclical "paradise" theme
Great reaction! You should react to her music videos starting with the ones from the Born to die album theyre amazing
U should react to some live performances of the songs u ve listened
@@caps07 will happen in future videos
React to mv of the songs u ve listened. U will understand more
22:30 Every instrument, switch up in tempo, switch up in pitch and cadence... everything is done on purpose. That's an important take away for Lana's Discography.
29:45 yayo is the only song from her first ever debut album Lana del Ray Aka lizzy grant which is a good album honestly but she took it off iTunes because she felt like the company 5 points record wasn’t doing anything with it so she left them got the rights for her music and moved to interscope and polydor records where she first released video games and has since stayed with them .
Maybe in the future when your done with all the albums you gotta react to the music videos because they all make the song make more sense and add much more into the song and the album
You should watch and react to ride music video
React to Lana del Rey's Honeymoon Album ❣️
@@Hirakhokhar01 coming soon :)
if you enjoy or have some knowledge of 50/60's music, you'll catch up a lot of Lana's music's references, like in "Body Electric", she loves Marilyn Monroe, Ella Fitzgerald and the most loved one by her: Nina Simone
30:44 freudian slip
😂😂😂😂 I truly didn’t mean it
this one is hit or miss for me but the ones that hit are so good
10:44 "whatdidshe SAYYYY?!" 😅😅😅
Not the expected lyrics from Lana, that's for sure LOLL
I'm pretty sure she took what her boyfriend told her and fit it into the song, which in my opinion, is referencing the Harvey Weinstein situation. "Harvey's in the sky with diamonds and he's makin me crazy" "all he wants to do is party with his pretty baby"
and I'm pretty sure the line "i pledge allegiance to my dad, for teaching me everything he knows" is saying, "my dad told me all about the evils of the industry, and what NOT to do, or ever be a part of, no matter what" more or less making it clear that she's very aware of what's going on, and what to avoid while navigating the music industry. Which explains exactly why she's never won any of her 11 Grammy nominations. Because unlike so many others, Lana cannot be bought ! Her soul is not for sale ! 🖕
I am loving this journey man. Like i said, you're picking up on things that normally get glazed over this early on. It's really cool to witness. But don't burn yourself out moving too quickly through her discography. Each body of work tends to be really draining, and heavy, consuming them in one sitting. You mentioned that you were gonna sit with each piece of work for about a week or so, and that's a really great way to go about it. That's why i wasn't expecting to see this post by you for a while ! Way to make my day !! This was a lot sooner than i was anticipating ! 😊
Tropico must be next !! And that doesn't have to wait anytime at all because you've already heard the songs, it's only really about fitting everything together for you with her visuals, which i cannot WAIT for you to experience for yourself. That's basically how i feel about all things Lana; The experience for your SELF ! Putting yourself out into these reactions, is much appreciated, but I'm excited to hear more about what the experience ends up being for YOU ! Because Lana will surely get into your head more and more from here on out. It's the Lana effect. Should be studied in every university ! 😅😅😅💙
Okay now, back to the reaction ! I paused it at "whatdidshe sayyyyy?!" 😂
thank you for the kind words :)
Okay, before you continue, I suggest you react to the music videos from Born to Die and Paradise before going on. Plzzzzzz you will be amazed.
Please react to the music video for ride, it’s about ten minutes and has a long story behind it, helps put some context behind the song and what her life was like before fame. She used to be poor and struggled and had to get money in a lot of shady ways. She was living in a trailer park and spent most her days hanging around the gas station
Well she wasn't exactly poor but she did part ways with her family during the recording of AKA. They gave her 10k for the album process and that's when she went to the trailer park.
@@Oni_1 even before aka, she was living on her own just signing at small bars in her town, and in pawn shop blues she talked about having to sell many personal items in order to afford food on the table and she could only afford bread and oranges
