I've been getting really nostalgic for old TCG stuff this past year, and as someone who got into Pokemon back in Gen 3, you've got me wanting to try this out and look into other retro TCG formats.
@@caliburnabsolute8517 that’s awesome! I highly recommend looking at 2010 format then as well. I have a new video coming out next week on a Pokémon format from the last 2 years which is fun and super cheap if you don’t want to drop $500+ on a deck.

Awesome video i have been wanting to build my rs-pk decks jist about time and a lot of world championship verisons lol My favorite format is legacy im probably one of the few who plays it nowadays in paper but i love it u get primes amd all the BW era sillyness but the erratad catcher and Xy turn one rules make it alot funnier than the actual Bw ere formats
@@jacobguy3343 that’s awesome, I’ve never tried our legacy I’ve mostly just been playing current format and certain retro formats? Are there decks that use prime cards in legacy?
@KiruTrading yes there are quite a few i currently have Flareon / donphan prime built but u can play it with Yanmega prime instead and Yanmega can be paired with magnezon. Electrode prime and can be teched in too any deck with the plasma freeze draw electrode or be made into a box style deck on his own Typhlosion prime with reshiram is a great counter too Virgen
@KiruTrading im sure there are like i think limitless has some stuff what I mainly have done over the past year is I just watch legacy format PTCGO TH-cam videos and build off that which surprisingly helped me understand the format really fast! apparently people play with a informal banlist aswell i heard whismicast mention with Vileplume and The hand disruption Weavile banned im looking for more resources myself actually too see who else is playing it

I think Pokemon company should print a reprint set with basically all the cards from these decks. It wouldn't affect the value of the original cards they wouldn't have the same set symbols or be the same cards they would look obviously different.
@@orsonzedd I totally agree! We sometimes get reprints from the generations sets, delta species gardevoir ex is a great example. It’s a $50+ card that Pokémon reprinted and is pennies, same with rockets admin and neither effected the original cards price
@@KiruTrading An alternative would be a MTG style "The List" and every set would reprint, say, 50+ cards from a previous set that aren't necessarily Legal. Collectors would love them, people who want those cards for playing would love them.
@@nathanieljones8043 hello, so this isn’t for every tournament but from what I’ve researched most tournaments do not allow you to use proxy cards because of the risk of them being marked in some way. These same tournaments did offer rental decks for players to use, bur this is also why many of the tournaments for this format are done through online simulators because how egregiously expensive the cards are.
I've recently gotten into retro pokemon formats and from my experience I actually prefer 2006 worlds format over RSPK. It's the one time where I think having less sets makes for a better play experience and since 2006 doesn't feature the last 3 sets of the block, you don't have to deal with Cessation Crystal which I think is one of the most obnoxious cards ever. And I know people will comment saying "just play windstorm" but I would rather just play a format without the card. I also think Rayler/Camler is a super annoying deck to play against and Gardevoir isn't especially fun either. Yes, 2006 misses out on some cool decks like Meganium delta but I think it still has most of the fun decks from the era while skipping on the ones that make the experience worse.
@@NintendoMasterNo1 I totally agree cessation crystal isn’t the most fun card to be sitting across from, and not every format will fit people’s preferred play style. Personally I haven’t played 2006 format as I’ve always played rspk or other retro formats so I’ll have to check it out and see how I like it without those cards !
Not allowing proxies can have its problems, of course. However, if you are running tournaments for a vintage format of a card game, not allowing them guarantees your format will languish, end of story.
@@AutumnReel4444 It definitely does prevent a lot of people from being able to play which is sad, but thankfully online tournaments using online sims is a free way for everyone to enjoy it.
honestly, tournaments should allow proxies if they dont offer a competitive advantage. Expecting people to shell out multiple hundreds of dollars to even play physically is incredibly stupid.
@@sakuraanime122 it is definitely excessively expensive, it’s why many tournaments are done online with how expensive the cards are! Unfortunately proxy cards are very hard to manage at a tournament level as they can very easily be considered “marked” if they’re slightly different from real cards. That being said, I’ve heard that some places that run in person retro Pokémon events haves offered rental decks for players who can’t afford the incredibly expensive cards.
@@KiruTrading It makes some sense, but quality stantards for proxies could be easily implemented. Even some MTG tournaments allow proxies. Far from impossible!
@ I agree, the video wasn’t me stating that I’m against proxies simply explaining what some tournament organisers have decided to do. If someone wants to start an rspk format tournament that allows proxies that would be awesome!
nah they didn't understand how to make cards until the 2nd half of gen 5 sets and even then imo ex cards are lazy whenever they are legal everyone uses them because they will never print an ex that is any less then 2x the power of any non ex so sure it's riskier if you ignore the risk of sending a weaker pokemon that dies faster only to realize it didn't buy any turns and made less progress than the ex. you can only put one energy card on pokemon per turn if you put it on an ex its not literally like putting 2 energy cards on the board but on some level it kinda is same with tool cards doing attacks etc. I like the video I just wholesale disagree with your favorite format dark T tar is one my most hated hated cards because they keep reprinting it as basic under the mewtwo name at least T tar was an evo so you couldn't turn 1 with drawing 3 different cards in you turn 1 but still its a easy to set up snowball. If I can't kill it who cares that I get 2 prize cards for it.
@@nathanieljones8043 thanks for your comment! are you talking about mewtwo treasures from legendary treasures?
