    Wow!! what a great job on one of the most reliable skis ever made. Great to see that you could restore that beauty. The sandblasting was a phenomenal job. I will do the same with my WaveVenture, hopefully it comes out as nice. Cheers!

    Do you know if the cylinders on these machine are cast or Nikasil? I want to bore mine out due to piston failure but I'm not sure if I can bore it or does it have to be sleeved.

    Dumb question. Does it have crank case oil fill. . Another stupid thing only started 3 hours a year. . But to winterize I only had time to burp it to get water out for freeze. . Still runs. I’m so lucky. I need to know about oil though. I’ve never missed service on anything before.?? Lol

    Hey just wanted to thank you for your help, I got the carbs back on and it's running great on the trailer, but in the water it dies when I give it throttle. If I pump my primer it will run great. It seems like a fuel delivery problem but I've checked everything, all valves, fuel shutoff, fuel lines, etc. stumped. Carbs freshly rebuilt.

    With a stubby 12mm I was finally able to get the carbs off! Any tips for getting those inside nuts back on when I re-install? Did you do it with the interconnected fuel lines removed? Thanks for the help!

    My opinion the 4 stroke PWC have changed everything. Smoother quieter and they are so much more reliable. However 4 stroke engines to replace cost nearly double of a two stroke engine. And the 2 stroke engines are much easier to work on. If you have the extra money I prefer buying a 4 stroke ski. I really like the FX and FX Cruisers.

    Just picked up this wave runner and I think the carbs need a rebuild. Looks like it's not too hard to pull them since you put them in after the motor was in?

    Hi, thanks for your video. it's so helpful. Trying to figure out how to remove the throttle assembly from the carb assembly and it's hard to tell from your video and from the service manual. Can you explain?

    • @fiero880
      @fiero880  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      meaning the plate that holds the throttle and choke cables ? or the actual rod assembly going to each butterfly ?

    I just picked up the same exact pwc with trailer for $100.00 this last Wednesday. it is seized and I plan on doing a rebuild ( I tried to fill the cylinders to soak the rings but only one held fluid ). where did you get your parts? I do not really want to go to ebay but thats all I'm finding.
    thanks and good job!

    Where is the electrical box/relay sylinoid located?

  • @fiero880
    @fiero880  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Another thing the two inner nuts you will only be able to loosen these with a wrench. The rest of the way you'll do it with your fingers. Same thing with putting them back on. Also there is a gap between the side of the hull and the floatation foam. If you position your wrench correctly you can use this gap for additional space to wrench on or off the nuts.

      fiero880 how do the hoses go back for the water

  • @fiero880
    @fiero880  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Yes I left all the fuel lines on the carbs except for the return and input line. And the crankcase line going to the fuel pump. You'll have to use your fingers getting those two inside nuts started. Sometimes opening the throttle some manually with someones help or your other hand helps get those nuts started.

    I rebuilt my 1100 also. To each his own but I just pulled the entire engine then took it apart. I guess I took some of the exhaust off first but overall it's a LOT easier to get at on a workbench.

    The bad news, the nuts do not stick to a magnet. LOL!! It can be done very easily without pulling the head. Just take your time. Your mainly going to use your fingers to remove them. And yes you will most likely drop some nuts into the hull. One trick I have used in the past is using a very long screw driver alittle smaller in diameter than the threads. Put the head touching the tip of the intake bolt and use this to slide the nuts up and down removing them or putting them back on. Take you time

    Job well done ....when Skis looked like Skis not like Harley's and 1970's Luxury Cars

  • @fiero880
    @fiero880  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    No not hard at all. Just remove the air box, air box platform, disconnect the chock cable and throttle cable. disconnect the return fuel line and fuel input line. Remove the carb platform nuts (14mm I think). Those are the hardest part of it. You can get a wrench in there to loosen them then finish them with your fingers.

    how do you remove exhaust I would like to see that nothing on utube about that thanks

    • @fiero880
      @fiero880  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      John, You have to remove it in pieces or stages. And be creative with your arms and hands. If I remember correctly you have to remove the elbow piece. Then the larger piece and then the manifold. It is a pain.

    • @locomojo0485
      @locomojo0485 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Was really easy... You have 4 bolts in the head area connecting the large exhaust pipe to it. Towards the rear is a hose clamp on the rubber section down at the bottom, a sensor with a couple 10mm bolts. another small hose. Then on the front side there's 4 12mm bolts that connect the large top part to the exhaust manifold itself. Take those out and then it's all free, just wiggle it forwards and lift the rear up and slide it all out in one piece. Takes about 20 minutes. Be careful of the spark plugs as you wiggle it out, may bump into them and they break easy. I just changed the flywheel and starter and bendix on mine. Took maybe 3 hours. Have to pull the front steering section, gas tank, and front engine cover as well.
