- We have all come to accept that S1mple and NAVI won't be hoisting CSGO’s final Major trophy, and the superstar's actions over the past few months may suggest that this downfall was already in the making.
It's got the entire CS:GO community asking - did S1mple's ego once again get the better of him? Let's dig into it.

Hiko had plenty of experience dealing with toxic players in the NA scene.
It definitely is his downfall, but it is also the reason he got to where he is today. If you look at how he plays and how he handles his teammates, it is obvious that he is frustrated mainly at himself since he isn't performing as well as he knows he can which leads to him expressing that frustration onto his teammates.
He never puts the blame on himself most of the time, the only player he respects is electronic and he scapesgoat losses on the rest of the team - npl, sdy and bit at the start

the liquid days are barely usable example. he was a 17-18 kid living thousands of miles from home and was being actively antagonized by both his teammates during work hours and pug players during his free time. Elige is not exactly a bastion of morailty either, there are many examples of him flaming others in pugs. From my perspective most of the NA players at the time fealt threatened by him and started to bully simple as an ego check. His only mental health outlet was hiko lmao of course he lashed out at bullies that are obviously inferior players to him.

s1mple has an ego, but he earned it with his achievements. The goal for him has to be not letting that ego consume him and his team. Look at stars in other games like Jordan

He joined Liquid, and they fucking hated him but kept him for the wins. Hiko was the only player S1mple ever played with that could hold him back and keep him calm.
s1mple deserved that ownage from sdy and woro2k. There is one good word to explain this situation: Karma. is. real. If he won't stop being arrogant, toxic and not friendly towards his teammates, he will keep loosing just like he lost against Monte. Also all Navi's problems because they kicked Boomich.

Honestly the whole team dynamic feels off. I haven't seem them laugh during a LAN event since they won stockholm. Also when they dominated kato 2020 before covid they acually had fun on stage and absolutely slapped their opponents like i've not really since then. Maybe stockholm but never after...

Exactly. Teams like G2, Faze, Liquid, etc, genuinely like they get along outside the server. Whenever i see navi, it's just npl desperately trying to hold it together while b1ad3 is angrily giving him the death stare from behind, all the while S1mple is constantly bickering with B1t, Perfecto and electroNic, all of whom look like they don't want to be there. It's really sad to see but navi isn't looking right at the moment.

Boobl4 was such a good space creator becs of his plays he gave less pressure on the team itself and the team won way more easily
I feel for the guy, really think he's just lashing out because he's feeling helpless at times. It's a feeling that can make you say or do things you might regret afterwards. Add some stress because your country has been invaded, not cool. Still, I hope NaVi or some future team get him a psychologist that can help him use those feelings to click heads in stead.

How will new team help if his attitude is the issue? They have already won a major, which proves that team isn't the issue. They need to take their time off, come back with a positive mentality. s1mple's performance has been the worst this major compared to any other. They should have stuck with sdy instead of going for NPL.

His extreme confidence and ego has always been his main weapon. He makes superb plays when he is fully confident.. They need a legit IGL.. Elec has to be free and be the top 3-5 rifler that he is to make more space and make it easier for S1mple and b1t to operate.. Id rather have elec entrying or lurking.. together with b1t they can open sites.. S1mple is fully tilted cuz he knows they are more than capable but things arent working right now.. though he is also at fault but its more of a collective underperformance from everyone in NaVi.. they need to recalibrate things and prepare differently as S1mple slowly declines..

This is why I was really annoyed when people got mad at that guy who asked him if he had any friends in real life. I don’t think coddling bullies is helpful. That’s a character flaw, a skill issue if you will, and it needs to be addressed.
I don't know how difficult it is to realize that s1mple has not become the naïve toxic pro he was. He seems to have developed some unhealthy habits and hence the difference is the determination, the confidence and the domination. It's also evident that the aggression and the hyper behavior has developed !
Its called being from CIS (ukraine specifically). Its always a toxic scene there and hes one of the old 90's guard that grew up in tough times and being aggressive. The new kids simply don't talk like that anymore.

a lot of you forget the war that been going on in his home country. this war is hugely impacting him and his current performance and attitude. he is not mentally stable to focus 100% on the game. leading to his lack of practices and dropping in performance. while this is happening, he is hoping for his teammates to put better performance except for electronic since he is now calling, which is why he is getting a little more toxic (if not a bit too much) after his peak. putting alone on his ego and toxicity is just plain ignorance.

NAVI needs boombl4, ngl its their best form and the most focused that team has ever been. Im not saying that electronic is not doing a great job, but we can see that there were questionable calls that you will only see in pubs and the formation kinda falls into chaos if s1mple dies and lose his awp. Hell his awping feels kinda restricted and not the loosey goosey calculated kind when they were with boombl4, it seems like 4 of them is obligated to cover 1 guys mistake all the time.
POV: I'm crying while watching s1mple's 2021 highlights compare to nowadays
Boombl4 not only was a good igl whit good strats and smart gameplay style. He also was the guy that keep S1mple ego in check, just hear the voice comments when he was the captain, every time s1mple would talk or give an strat he basically tells him "No, we doing this" One of the best ninja defuse i had seen is one when boombl4 tells s1mple in a 3v4 situation stay on site, we going for a ninja defuse. And the shit worked. Electronic is a decent igl and a great rifler but he has been s1mple duo for such a long time that he's unable to tell him to shut the fk off
There was an old video where someone called it the S1mple effect. S1mple joins a team, plays, gets progressivly more toxic, leaves to join or gets another and the cycle repeats. Hopefully that doesnt happen with Na'vi and he learns from this.

I remember in like 2014-2015 when Simple wasn't old enough to go to majors, he was benched in t2 teams, specifically I remember Flipsid3, because of this. s1mple is not frod, he's not an over the hill player with a ridiculous ego. he's just in a game where teams limit themselves based on language. if na'vi spoke all english they could get any player they wanted and do good.
As much as I'd like to blame s1mple for his downfall and the downfall of NaVi, B1ad3 is also partially to blame here. Asides from sdy, his comments on headtr1ck was also unnecessary and harsh for a player considering he consistently popped off in NiP.

Skillwise s1mple might be the greatest player in CSGO. But the GOAT of CS entirely is clearly NEO. Not only was he the best player in CS1.6 (closely followed by f0rest), but he also was a godlike player in CSGO for quite some time. And: He is a humble person.
Every GOAT has some kind of attitude. That is why they are so good. It's the competitive mentality and goal for perfection. Messi and Ronaldo have that aswell. But the teammates of them still say they are supportive, funny and put their ego down for the team goal. We can also see that with dupreeh, now official the GOAT of CSGO because he is the only player with 5 major title and the only player who played every CSGO major. We also see that with dev1ce and other top 10-20 world player, like zywoo, sh1ro etc.
What s1mple said at the major about the war always makes me cry. This is how I want to imagine s1mple always is. Humble. Respectful.
I hope that he will grow up finally. He isn't a teenager anymore. I hope in CS2 he will be a great person, not just a great player.

na'vi has no team chemistry at all , and that's what brings them down. You could see in the "car ride" sequences that all the teams were goofing around and na'vi was just sitting silently with their headphones.

I'd be mad at SDY too if i'm s1mple. 1 year with the team but still makes the same mistakes each and every map. There's a reason why NaVi fans were calling for his head. He isnt a bad player, just wasnt a good fit. Also if you watch the games, it was in the tail end of SDY's NaVi career where toxic became "toxic" towards him. He was always by his side in the early stages of them being teammates. S1mple was even saying highly of him when they first got him. About the Woro2k issue, it's just a classic case of 2 competitive players not playing with synergy and 2 different ideas clashing. It was a tournament for fucks sake not some random FPL. S1mple getting frustrated = Toxic S1mple is back?! Heck Puppey (Dota2, Team Secret) was smashing keyboards and monitors and we're publicly pointing out his teammate's mistakes. In a game where every small detail is critical, why would you tolerate your teammate's repetitive mishaps? I also truly believe that the lack of natural IGL is the cause of this.

Tbh, no sport can you be that toxic and get away with it. You can put pressure in practices to get your teammates better, but having an ego becomes unreachable. I don’t think s1mple has ever reached his peak n won’t ever due to this. Lots of amazing talented players in regular sports wouldn’t ever be picked up. Difference between confidence and completely toxic in gameplay. There’s also toxicity that drives teammates not details them, narrative is too broad
S1mple hasn't had an ego like that in a long time. He's not calling or making meta decisions about strategy. They started sucking after they kicked booml4, and never recovered. Electronic is an amazing rifler and should remain as such.

Maybe I am wrong, but I think it would be incredibly hard (if not impossible) to reach the performing level of s1mple without an ego. The thing that makes him lash out is also the driving demon of his talent. He wants to be the best and expects the best…I understand that can be ‘toxic’ but being nice doesn’t have a correlation of success. He is tough on himself and his mates, but I think the community looks to deeply into it…he’s a true competitor who can get angry…just like the rest of us.

S1mple can be a dick sometimes sure, but man give him a break. He didn't play well in a major for the first time in ever basically.. the team had problems. Npl is very young and inexperienced and imo electronic needs to be a rider again and try to find a new igl. Electronic isn't bad but he has suffered in other areas.. I think s1mple is frustrated and it's showing. Dudes still a phenomenal player

to answer the question, yes. but at the same time no. Navi needs players that can control s1mple's ego. boom14 is one of them. if I have to say another player, maybe someone like glave, cadiaN or Karrigan.
Dude i cant lie monte has big advantage there, SDY was literally in freakin navi so probs knew all the strats in and out and how the navi players react to different situations, so therefore, its not surprising that they won, but also kinda bullshit coz they then went and lost 2-0 to gamerlegion sooo u know would have rather seen a more competitive navi vs gamerlegion match up but oh well who knows
S1mple plays better when he's relaxed and having fun. I don't think B1ad3 creates a good atmosphere for the team. They always seem uptight and unfocused as a result.
S1mple always had an ego, when he won trophies and when he didn't, his downfall is navi management getting unexperienced academy players instead of an igl, so navi becomes worse, that's his downfall
I don't think he will change. He had plenty of opportunities to do so, but he CHOSE to don't evolve.
