As a fellow Canadian, I'm right there with you Mark. Picked up a bottle late last year and it's one of my formal go-tos. Late fall, winter and early spring - indoors - it's no screamer and that's the way I like it. More interesting than Layton (which kinda reminds me of Pure Malt), exclusif feels like a comfortable introduction to the niche oriental market and generously easy to wear with a tan sweater. However, given the price, I'll likely be going for something else once the bottle runs out.
Still need to check this one out, I’ve had my 4.2oz oajan for 3 years now and it’s almost finished, even though i love it I probably won’t get another bottle as i got josier ambre tabac a few months back and its very similar but even better imo and less dosh :)
Same here, never smelled the original. I have a small sample of Layton Exclusif. Its ok, nothing spectacular. I prefer Herod, Oajan and Habdan to this one.
I have both, Layton and the Eclusif,and by far for my taste, it's Exclusif all the way. But Layton is still a beast, for a niche 'designer' style scent, it's a total beast. The apple in it is nice and tart, while the exclusif is darker for sure.
I actually detected a bit of oud at the end, but I did sampled both. Didn’t know the note breakdown until now & wasn’t aware this had civet in it. Definitely a safe oud, if you get to smell the oud.
Shagya the best out of the house from my nose. The combo of bergamot, lime, oud, and vetiver is a true gem. I dont go with the hype with the other pdm.
I love this scent but very sad it includes almond as a note. I sprayed it and got an allergy attack (didnt know it had almond). I smelled amazing but needed quick allergy shot) So, even though I loved the smell, I have to stick with Layton. Just a fair warning for all extreme almond-allergy people around here.
Is this a real thing? Why haven't I heard anyone else mention this? Guess Pegasus is a no go too. Idk. Sounds like bs to me. You're telling me that even a small amount of almond extract on your skin prompted an allergic reaction so had you needed a shot. Almond, or any note including nuts, is not part of exclusif. I call complete bull. You're one of those people that I meet and within seconds, they're telling me they're bi polar and looking for some way to use it to their advantage. Yeah. F off dude.
You're probably allergic to coumarin and benzaldehyde which are two aroma chemicals responsible for the smell of almonds/cherry. There is no such thing as real almond in perfumery. Almond oil is practically odorless.
i just got a decant of this & it smells strikingly like green irish tweed, like so much so that i think they may have sent me GIT by mistake.. does this fragrance have any similarities to GIT to your nose? i ordered it from the fragrance decant boutique & i have heard that they send the wrong juice from time to time, & i specifically got the decant so that i could sample this as i've never smelled it before.
I don't think so, I think I have a sample around here somewhere lol. I should really sniff out the whole PDM line but it's hard to find motivation to sniff this brand.
@@robes08 I wasn’t a big fan of Layton when I first tried it, but I just used a beard oil that is clone of it. Its making me want to give it a second try. I did try Haltane recently, and had to grab a sample. Is it that they are overpriced? Or, the plethora of influencers? Im sure you have talked about it in a video, but what is it that makes you not like the brand? Im way out of the loop.
Marc I just ordered a tester bottle of layton exclusif, my bottle has a black tint to it, it actually a little darker than my regular bottle of layton, is my bottle Authentic 😟😟
I wouldn't pay 40$ for a bottle of this. The original Layton is good, but this exclusive flanker really ruined it! Waaaaayyy too many weird notes in there. It's just awkward and unpleasant. I dare you to look at how many notes it has on fragrantica. And the price per ML for this is terrible. The hype for this on youtube is quite troubling actually. Let's make a fun analogy here... Imagine if Tropicana orange juice came out with a variation of their famous orange juice by adding chocolate milk and red bull into the mix. And then they told you to pay twice the price because it was "exculive"...

Ditto. The original is more mass appealing and more occasions to use it.
I haven't gotten a chance to smell it, but I love the original Layton.

Is it just me or is this one slightly similar to Ralph Lauren polo red extreme? They both have very noticable coffee and bright fruit notes.
