I feel like ti's also worth pointing out that George Lucas has brought up that, since Star Wars is a big homage to a lot of pop culture things, one of them was in fact Wizard of Oz. Chewbacca being the most obvious, with him being a beast man with some lion sounds for her noises, but also I believe he said the wicked witch's melting helped inspired how Obi-Wan dies in a sort of melting-esque way.
Kozmo Delta Shuttle is based on the Imperial Lambda class Shuttle seen in Return of the Jedi, with the design just being flipped upsidedown and are both named after Greek letters
Kozmo Lightsword is also depicting the Darth Maul fight from Star Wars Ep. 1. Also the Farm Girl isn't just a 1 to 1 mix of Dorothy and Luke. Farm Girl is a mix of Luke, Anakin, a little of padawan Obi-Wan, and Dorothy. The Kozmo storyline starts at some mix of the beginning of Ep1 and Ep4 due to the presence of the Maul stand-in that Farm Girl and the Good Witch fight against at some point as well as what looks like the "Jedi Temple" still standing in Kozmotown.
I really want Konami to do more of these. I'm surprised they haven't done it yet. They should regularly take two interesting things from pop culture, and cleverly mash them into a new archetype for the game. Kozmo was so well executed.
If they did it more often, it’d feel less special and open them up to legal issues if they didn’t make the references subtle enough. Much easier to stick to robot dragon anime waifus

Another cool archetype I’d love to see covered on this is the Six Samurai. They have an interesting story behind them and they show up on a ton of cards outside their own archetype
I feel like it's a crime that you didn't mention the artwork of Kozmo Lightsword is literally Maul vs Qui Gon and Obi Wan :o They're even using the correct colors for the lightswords! :O
Zexal definitely was the peak of bonkers attack point values in the Yugioh animes. Monsters going above 8000 was really rare in 5Ds, Arc-V, and Vrains, but 10,000 and up happened multiple times in Zexal. I like that Kozmo Farmgirl and her allies are Light monsters, while Kozmoll Wicked Witch and her forces are Dark monsters with the very obvious nod to the Dark and Light sides of the Force.
I think the peak was still DM during orichalcos arc but that's only happeend once, while zexal deal with badonkers number in daily basis. It kinda carried over to arc v but cypher dragon didn't have that kind of attack boosting ability and instead we have raidraptor and rebellion dragon series but even they rarely hit 10k.

I have a whole deck built around Numerounia in MD and in paper YuGiOh, and they're heaps fun to play. You'd be surprised how infrequently cards like Raigeki and Dark Hole actually come up in practice. Opponents are usually using those before you get Numerounia out, since nobody really expects you to go past the Numeron Gates or Sunya.
I love that Dark Vader character lol. Jokes aside I like videos like this because it points out some thing others may not fully see at a glance. Aesthetically I find I love building decks for fun with archetypes rather than just meta decks which can be just okay or even boring.

I love the Kozmo archetype. It's one of those archetypes that even if it has fallen out of meta, I still play because I just like it. The artwork and the playstyle. I wish more cards were added to it
Loved the video, it's a really nice blend of "Hey lets learn about the mechanics of these cards" while also examining their inspirations. I do have to call ya out for calling Darth Vader "Dark Vader" though honestly, I'm just gonna imagine you did that on accident and thought "Wait, if I don't fix this, nerds in the comments will call me out and that means more engagement, plus less editing" that or maybe I missed some crucial star wars lore at some point.
Forgot to mention that iC1000 had destruction protection, target protection, only number monsters could attack it and the 100k stats were its original stats in the anime
In game we have 2 trap card's: one with destruction protection(for all number monster's) and negate card(must be used only if u control XYZ monster). Usually, problem is card's with "back to hand/deck" effects.
This video sent me into such a star wars rabbit hole that I ended up watching an entire episode of the mandalorian before coming back and finishing it.
I used to love and still run Kozmos. I remember when they were a menace back in the day. And I swear, despite Konami gagging their artists, GenzoMan's style is unmistakable.
The little DexLogs skits at the end are fun. Reminds me of that brief period of time when you had ad skits that used... I think it was some kind of vocoded voice? The voice was by far the thing that stood out the most for me from those.
been playing kozmo since they were tier 1 in 2016, i can still get to plat with them on master duel lmao. even in 2023 some decks just cant get over DD or planet well. the main issue with kozmo in current day is they cant link summon pretty much at all, they need to be destroyed or banished to get effects so its really hard to use them as link materials. it would be nice to get some legacy support with something like a link that could destroy the link materials or something so you can float.
Kozmo is such a wacky idea for an archetype. Amazed they actually managed to add it to Duel Links, I was worried fear of copyright related shenanigans had made it go the way of Air Neos.
Kozmo is one of my favorite archetypes, partially because I love Star Wars and like The Wizard of Oz, but also because it was so well designed. It was fun and fair, but viable in the competitive scene. I miss that version of Yu-Gi-Oh.
When I see Kozmo Farmgirl I think of Becky Lynch. Becky is a wrestler in WWE. A few months before the card was released, she also wore glasses in her hair. In some cases, her clothes looked very similar to those on the card and she also had the same hair color.
What's also interesting is that Numerounius Numeuronia is the only Number monster in the game to have iC in it's name, which stands for Imaginary Chaos. In my opinion, the reason it has Imaginary in it's name is because there are no level 13 monsters in the actual game

I'd be curious to see (assuming you haven't made a video on it already that I missed) a video covering cards that contain references to other Konami properties. Things like the Spyral archetype seemingly making reference to Otacon and other MGS characters, or the Gradius and Goemon inspired archetypes. It's a neat little bit of Yugioh history and I'm sure there're more references I'm not aware of.
You know what they need? Silent Hill based archetype. Just call it Fogtown or Quiet Hill or something. With Alessia the tortured witch, Rust Sirene, Pyramid butcher, etc
I've always adored the visual designs of all of the Kozmo cards. They have some of the best art of the game IMO. Also another fun nod to Star Wars and Luke Skywalker in Farmgirl is that she's on a planet with 2 suns, like Tatooine.
If not for Scaredey Lion and the Japanese name of Kozmotown, I would not have been convinced that the Kozmo archetype was influenced by very influenced by Oz at all.
Another fact about numeronius numeronia: The "i" in "Number Ci1000" stands for imaginary. If the card seems like some fan's deviant art boss monster, that's because it essentially is - as it's a number that only exists because don thousand made it up mid-duel to keep himself from losing. Technically *every* chaos number is like that, and really every number in general (their stats, effects, and summoning requirements being based on what the original owner needed when they're first summoned), but the chaos numbers - or "number c"s - are essentially doubling up on that aspect and are created on the spot when their owner uses a rank up magic on one of their numbers. This is why while only 25 were used (and therefore printed) *technically speaking* every single number has a number c rank up in theory - it's just konami hasn't gotten around to making any more of them yet.. and no, galaxy eyes prime photon dragon's new chaos number in photon hypernova doesn't count, nor does shark drake veiss, as they aren't made via the canonically busted rank up mechanic.
@TheDuelLogs, I'm a bit disappointed you didn't mention the art of "Kozmo Lightsword" also being a reference to The Duel of Fates from Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace! But still, good that you featured Kozmo in your video. Hopefully, Konami gives these space farers some legacy support, like say, a cross between the Emperor and the Wizard, or Kozmoll Dark Lady before she fell to the dark side.
I think I have only fought against Kozmo twice in Master Duel. They actually kicked my ass as I was unfamiliar with their effects and play style. Definitely found its artwork interesting although I didn't make the connection to either Star Wars or the Wizard of Oz at the time. Certainly a fascinating archetype.
If there were more cards to the Kozmo series, what other WoO/SW combination inspirations would we have? And would we be using the original WoO books, and/or using the movie as inspiration? Are we sticking more to "A New Hope", or does it include "The Empire Strikes Back" and "Return of the Jedi"? Maybe The Great Oz/Emperor Palpatine? What'd be the Yellow Brick Road? Who'd be Han Solo? Princess Leia?
Video idea if you haven't done it: "Cards that Aren't the Type You'd Think They Are".... or something. Examples: Two-Mouthed Dark Ruler is an Earth monster, despite resembling a Thunder Dragon fusion and having "dark" in the name. Firegrass is an Earth monster, despite having fire in the name.
I think Kozmo Wickedwitch is the most clever, it's Darth Maul who got cut in half and The Wickedwitch of the East who got a house dropped on her, and the effect mostly just makes her hard to kill.
Honestly I would love for them to make more Kozmo cards, a good one would be to combine The actual Wizard of Oz himself with Emperor Palpatine, Maybe call it Kozmo Emerald Emperor.
Another otherworldly archtype that should be cool to see in your videos are the Gradius's spaceships; Gradius (Vic Viper), Falchionβ, Jade Knight and Lord British and their respective bosses, the B.E.S. Spaceships including Delta Tri all of them based on the spaceshooter classic Gradius from Konami.
It bugs how Kozmotown was translated. Card artwork: space ship flying through an ecumenopolis full of miles high skyscrapers. TCG translators: ah yes, that's a fine town if I've ever seen one. Kozmopolis was the obvious choice if they wanted to shorten the japanese name, why are they like this!
I think Dark Lady is intended to be more of an Emperor Palpatine than a Darth Vader, as Wickedwitch fills Vader’s role of a sympathetic villain with a connection to the protagonist.
it's really weird that the Kozmo archetype exists considering there were already Cosmo cards. i get that the Oz pun is really good but that has to have confused someone before
oh man you really need to proofread your videos. a few typos here and there are fine but "Dark Vader" is really bad and some sentences are impossible to follow.
Kozmos are what sealed me getting into Yugioh about a year ago. Scrolling borely through the filler of packs in legacy of the duelist I saw them and saw the playstyle and references, was instantly hooked. While I wish they got support, any expanded content on either property is awful these days and I don't want an inevitable Rey reference Kozmo Mary Sue the pendulum to be a thing even if it did save the deck.
Its more of like the transport shuttle that Vader and the Emperor used than the v19 also given that its named "shuttle". I also noticed you forgot Kozmo Sliprider card.

The name "Glinda" existed in the original book. It didn't originate in Wicked.

It does also have the rotating s foils and weird middle blade of the v-19 so i can see the resemblance but by the name its definitely the lambda
It also wouldn't make a lot of sense to have one random reference to the Clone War era when everything else is obviously the original trilogy

I've always adored the visual designs of all of the Kozmo cards. They have some of the best art of the game IMO. Also another fun nod to Star Wars and Luke Skywalker in Farmgirl is that she's on a planet with 2 suns, like Tatooine.

If not for Scaredey Lion and the Japanese name of Kozmotown, I would not have been convinced that the Kozmo archetype was influenced by very influenced by Oz at all.

Another fact about numeronius numeronia:
The "i" in "Number Ci1000" stands for imaginary. If the card seems like some fan's deviant art boss monster, that's because it essentially is - as it's a number that only exists because don thousand made it up mid-duel to keep himself from losing.
Technically *every* chaos number is like that, and really every number in general (their stats, effects, and summoning requirements being based on what the original owner needed when they're first summoned), but the chaos numbers - or "number c"s - are essentially doubling up on that aspect and are created on the spot when their owner uses a rank up magic on one of their numbers.
This is why while only 25 were used (and therefore printed) *technically speaking* every single number has a number c rank up in theory - it's just konami hasn't gotten around to making any more of them yet.. and no, galaxy eyes prime photon dragon's new chaos number in photon hypernova doesn't count, nor does shark drake veiss, as they aren't made via the canonically busted rank up mechanic.
7:14 the twin suns in the background are also a reference to Tatooine.

@TheDuelLogs, I'm a bit disappointed you didn't mention the art of "Kozmo Lightsword" also being a reference to The Duel of Fates from Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace! But still, good that you featured Kozmo in your video. Hopefully, Konami gives these space farers some legacy support, like say, a cross between the Emperor and the Wizard, or Kozmoll Dark Lady before she fell to the dark side.
I think I have only fought against Kozmo twice in Master Duel. They actually kicked my ass as I was unfamiliar with their effects and play style. Definitely found its artwork interesting although I didn't make the connection to either Star Wars or the Wizard of Oz at the time. Certainly a fascinating archetype.

If there were more cards to the Kozmo series, what other WoO/SW combination inspirations would we have? And would we be using the original WoO books, and/or using the movie as inspiration? Are we sticking more to "A New Hope", or does it include "The Empire Strikes Back" and "Return of the Jedi"?

I think Kozmo Wickedwitch is the most clever, it's Darth Maul who got cut in half and The Wickedwitch of the East who got a house dropped on her, and the effect mostly just makes her hard to kill.

Another otherworldly archtype that should be cool to see in your videos are the Gradius's spaceships; Gradius (Vic Viper), Falchionβ, Jade Knight and Lord British and their respective bosses, the B.E.S. Spaceships including Delta Tri all of them based on the spaceshooter classic Gradius from Konami.

I think Dark Lady is intended to be more of an Emperor Palpatine than a Darth Vader, as Wickedwitch fills Vader’s role of a sympathetic villain with a connection to the protagonist.
I think Kozmo dog fighter is supposed to be closer to the hyena bomber or vulture droid, and the Kozmo shuttle is closer to the imperial shuttle
it's really weird that the Kozmo archetype exists considering there were already Cosmo cards. i get that the Oz pun is really good but that has to have confused someone before
oh man you really need to proofread your videos. a few typos here and there are fine but "Dark Vader" is really bad and some sentences are impossible to follow.

Kozmos are what sealed me getting into Yugioh about a year ago. Scrolling borely through the filler of packs in legacy of the duelist I saw them and saw the playstyle and references, was instantly hooked.
While I wish they got support, any expanded content on either property is awful these days and I don't want an inevitable Rey reference Kozmo Mary Sue the pendulum to be a thing even if it did save the deck.
Its more of like the transport shuttle that Vader and the Emperor used than the v19 also given that its named "shuttle". I also noticed you forgot Kozmo Sliprider card.
