I love how dark & rich the castings in here look!! Soooo many isopods in there helping out!! I agree paper is natural😂I have some burlap sacks I brought back from cranberry picking and I've been trying to decide which bin to put them in!! This was just the motivation I needed to make a decision!! Excellent video Rick!!🪱🪱🪱
Sounds good Patrick. I’ve been wanted to add some burlap for a while now. Luckily I came across some from work. Natural bedding does produce some great looking castings. 😁🪱
I am just warning you, the worms will definitely get into that burlap, when you go to feed and "fluff" that bin again have a empty bin or something else close by to place the burlap in, or just fold it over one side to the other. I covered a few of my bins with burlap a few years ago, the worms loved it, a single layer of burlap lasted around 3 to 4 months. Worms and castings are looking great Rick, Stay Well!!!!
I just started making sure I have my mortar tray that I use for harvesting with me the last few check ins. Yeah I was just happy to throw it in so there wasn’t any structure when I put it in the bin. Thanks for the time frame Brian. This natural bedding bin has been doing a great job making vermicompost. 😁🪱
Oooh, worms love burlap! Sometimes the little wisps get hung up in it, so I found it's a good idea to always keep the bubble wrap on top to keep it moist. ~ Sandra
Your bedding is looking very rich and moist from my perspective. Incredible amount of worms that are clustered. I thought you gave to big of a feeding but I don't know what you know, as I don't even have a bin.
@@AlmostaGreenAcre-zs5eu thanks! I am very pleased with how the bedding is looking and this was a pretty large feeding. It does have a variety of faster and slower foods. I try to watch and not over feed. If the worms are eating everything I will give more, and if they slow down I will also back off on how much food scraps I give.
Good morning Rick, from Windermere Florida zone 9b 🇺🇸
Looks good in the bin🪱👌🪱
❤Peggy❤
Thanks Peggy the worms are having a great time eating up the bedding and food scraps
Enjoyable update as usual.
Thanks Joe

Thank you for the birthday comment. Enjoy the rest of your evening. 🪱
You’re welcome AJ. Mine is in another week. I remembered yours was earlier than mine in December.

Thanks for the tip Sandra. It will be neat to see how the worms interact with the burlap.
Wish I still had my worms but going to Moms every summer doesn't work well with that. At least I get to visit with yours each week.
Thanks Jack! Hopefully your raised beds are loaded with worms. 😁🪱
