Thanks for another great tutorial. Shame you couldn't run it, would have loved to see the first start with the map and then your tuning process. I have been using your previous videos to load a base map on to a Rocket III, and have been doing street runs slightly tweaking timing and fuel to dial it in. Would love a video of your tuning process without a dyno if you get an opportunity!
How much ft lb torque and bhp does Ecu flash make please ona standard 1600 vs 1700 Also with 1600 and 1700 supercharger kit please, I hear the 1600 supercharger kit alone takes it up to 152bhp and 140ft lbs torque on 1600, so guessing alot more with ECU FLASH on top and even more so on the 1700. I test rode the 1700 commander version for the 1st time riding a cruiser, my dad had 750 super magna when I was a kid that did 140 him on 130 me on, but only 105mph the thunderbird I tested, but the torque delivery and how fast it got to 105mph was very impressive but, I hear the 1700 storm more powerful as standard and I still need test ride that, also The 1600 and older shape rocket to comparison before making up my mind, the rocket 140mph and 140bhp 120ft lb torque will feel great but surely the lighter 1700 or 1600 plus a supercharger kit should make it a better bike especially as 6 speed and if im satisfied with just ECU Flash as the test ride ive never had so much fun with the high torque and comfort of big cruiser before, so im going to try find more out about these bikes before I buy and hopefully make nice memories, ive got Autism adhd and Dislexia and truly facinated by these 3 models, my mrs said she will come on back on one of these, my m8s say they suit me when sat on them, my other bikes are 2000 honda cr250 2 stroke im hoping get fully road legal and let my son do odd race on it, and 2001 low milage gen1 fazer1000, dream to own a cruiser and even though there are some classic 700 and 750 magnas out there 88 shape the thunderbirds have abs and bigger size, probably cheaper on fuel than a rocket but i just don't know enough about tuning them and if id be satisfied on what one to buy yet. If you can message me back in due course be brilliant, thank you. Ps i love the 1700 storm in dark red all saddle bags, backrest and big screen with decat and shorter exhausts but, the 1600 and rocket 2300 nice to, I need narrow it down lol
Hi Ben, Thanks for your comment! Sorry I am unable to answer your questions on power figures as all I have done here is flashed a base map onto the bike, (which is not mine). The base map was put on so that the timing was appropriately retarded and the AFR a bit closer to where it needed to be to cope with the extra pressure from the supercharger. The ECU flash alone does not make too much difference to HP and torque figures. As far as what bike you choose it's totally personal preference. Like you said maybe a lighter bike will be more suitable than a heavier bike. What is it that you want from the bike? It seems like you are looking at top speed and power. What you have in power and speed may take away rideability in other areas. Have a great day!
@TheBobberVlog iv actually got a test ride booked next weekend 1700 storm, cant wait, not fussed as long as it gets to 100mph and fast torquay but better than the commander 1700 but that was impressive but hear better things for the storm, ive got sports bike for faster speeds but as long as i can have tons of torquay fun up to 100 mph ill be ok, own a nearly road legal 2000 honda cr250 that is very light and i can set that up for either 70 80mph and aggressive torquay fun or supermoto set up for 120, so the more choices ive got to ride the better, but im riding my fazer most of the time 80 to 100 or just causing, only go top speed every now and then so for luxury rides and views Im hoping ill enjoy the thunderbird with a short exhaust and decat, id like to do charity rides and days out with mrs on the back also, but freinds say these big bikes suit me and probably better than the rocket as cheaper to run when id be doing same speeds. But the option of having a supercharger kit on it one day if need more grunt is somthinking to think on and good upgrade
In case it helps, I tested 2015 Nightstorm 1700 156NM , standard 2011 1600 145NM and a standard 2021 T120 105NM. The 1600 felt the best to me. It put a huge grin on my face, despite testing on a mountain road on a very wet day. It handled so well, so planted, taught, totally unexpected. The T120 felt skittish and weak in the same conditions, just by back to back comparison. I tested the Storm on a beautiful day in hill country. Perfect biking weather. But it didn't feel so good to me - kind of harsh and all the black just looked so dull to my eyes. Colour is just personal taste of course but the harshness wasn't what I was looking for. So I bought the standard 1600 and since then have been gradually making it lighter. I'm loving it. By the way, top speed is totally irrelevant to me for this kind of bike - I have a 147ps Daytona 955i SS for when I want to wind it on. The Thunderbird is for Thundering along on regular mountain roads, with fat response 30 - 80, laid back, enjoying the scenery. It's in its element doing that. Just need to improve cornering clearance 😊 Good luck on your Thunderbird journey.
Each bike is so different, why wouldnt you want a custom map done on a dyno. I had several bikes done and when compared to the provided map for the mods. The dyno tune map was quite different.
So it’s used as a base map and should take less time to tune. That’s what they did with my bikes. First load a base tune for the mods, then finish tuning from that. Thanks for the response.

The bike is going to go on the dyno. This is just the base map.
So it’s used as a base map and should take less time to tune. That’s what they did with my bikes.
First load a base tune for the mods, then finish tuning from that. Thanks for the response.
